WATCH: Iraqi hijacks car with drawn gun in Linz, Austria

He injured three people, engaged in a wild chase with the police: now a dramatic video shows how that Iraqi hijacked a car in Linz – with his assault rifle in his hand.

After a suspected knife attack on his 42-year-old wife on Monday morning, a 41-year-old man caused multiple gunshot wounds and car accidents from Linz all the way to Leonding until his dramatic arrest. A policewoman and a policeman had been seriously injured (eXXpress reported). A video now shows further dramatic scenes: With his assault rifle in hand, the Iraqi hijacked a car in Linz.

“Whoever takes in half of Calcutta does not help Calcutta, but becomes Calcutta himself. This quote by Peter Scholl-Latour unfortunately fits too well with the incident in which an Iraqi stabbed his wife and one of her colleagues, as well as seriously injuring at least one policeman, and subsequently hijacked this car,” wrote Vienna’s Freedom Party leader Dominik Nepp about the video.

The first victim, his wife, had called the police herself at 6.45 a.m. and was taken to hospital with abdominal injuries. The Iraqi then drove to the woman’s workplace and attacked his alleged rival with a knife and also seriously injured him. During his subsequent flight out of town in the direction of Leonding, he was involved in two traffic accidents. An eyewitness reported a large number of heavily armed police officers and a completely demolished car. Another witness stated that the man had tried to pull the driver of a van out of the vehicle. He allegedly drove straight into two police officers. A collision ensued in which one policewoman was injured in the foot, a second policeman was so seriously injured that he was still in a coma on Monday afternoon. He then took an assault rifle from the officers and fled until the special Cobra unit was finally able to stop and arrest him.
