‘Fascist tendencies’: German court misuses ruling to incite hatred against the US government and conservatives

The 13th Civil Chamber of the Bonn Regional Court caused a stir with a recently published ruling. The case actually concerned a lawsuit against an international social network: a user wanted to know whether US intelligence agencies had accessed his data. But instead of sticking to the legal assessment, the judges used the ruling to make sharp political jibes against the US – and in particular against Donald Trump’s administration – as reported by the Beck platform.

Referring to Edward Snowden’s revelations, the court ruling stated that data protection requirements in the United States are significantly lower, ‘which, incidentally, exposes the statements made by the current Vice President of the United States, J.D. Vance, in Munich in February 2025, according to which the civil liberties of citizens in Germany are allegedly less protected than in the United States – also for other reasons – to ridicule.’

The court then launched an unprecedentedly sharp attack on the government in Washington: “Nevertheless, the US government has learned little or nothing since then, which is surprising given the now openly right-wing extremist -populist government in the US under its current president, Donald Trump, which is now even questioning decades-old alliance commitments from which the US has also benefited politically and economically for decades, even if they no longer want to admit (or are unable to understand) this.”

Another part of the text said: “Right-wing extremists have always been known in court as the biggest enemies of individual freedom (of “others” or those who think differently), while at the same time constantly presenting themselves – persistently repeating lies – as its supposed greatest defenders in order to mislead their own (electoral) people – which unfortunately often works, especially now via “social” media, as recent years have shown. In addition, right-wing extremists are generally the most corrupt type of politicians because the ideological basis of right-wing extremism is unreasonably exaggerated (national and individual) egoism.”

Despite this massive criticism, the court conceded that the USA was ‘still an ally of Germany’. At the same time, the judges attested that the Donald Trump administration had tendencies that were ‘clearly anti-democratic, anti-constitutional and autocratic’, even referring to ‘fascist tendencies’.
