
A suspect was arrested for a suspected sex offence at a Koblenz school. Now the prosecution is also investigating a possible accomplice.
According to the police, the 20-year-old suspect was arrested on May 4. He was therefore brought before the magistrate and is in custody. He is suspected of having committed sexual acts on an 11-year-old girl in a Koblenz school at the end of April. As the public prosecutor Koblenz confirmed at broadcaster SWR’s request, the suspect is an Afghan. Previously, the Rhein-Zeitung had reported on it.
The man is also being investigated for another alleged sex offense, the prosecutor’s office said. In addition, he had already been sentenced to a fine in a previous trial for possesing a firearm, even though he did not have a gun permit. The public prosecutor’s office is also investigating a possible accomplice. The prosecutors do not want to disclose further details in order not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
According to a police spokesman last week, many concerned parents from various Koblenz schools have called the police since the investigation became known. The concerns would be taken very seriously, according to the spokesman. There is no danger for students. The school in question is in contact with the police. There, a crisis team was set up, which communicates with pupils and their parents.
