A Moroccan national was arrested on Sunday after setting fire to the Santiago Apóstol church in El Pozuelo, in the municipality of Albuñol (province of Granada). The 21-year-old broke down the entrance door by smashing a stained-glass window, then destroyed the parish church with a hammer and set it on fire. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. and did not result in any casualties, but part of the interior was significantly damaged by the flames. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the Civil Guard and the fire brigade, the damage to property was limited.
In this context, the Union of Islamic Communities of Andalusia (UCIDAN) strongly condemned this attack, ‘which in no way represents the Muslim community of Andalusia.’ ‘We would like to emphasise that this criminal act is completely contrary to human and Islamic values, as well as to the principles of mutual respect between religions,’ it said in a statement.
The Archdiocese of Granada also condemned a ‘serious arson attack’ as a ‘grave attack on the most sacred aspect of the Christian faith and the religious feelings’ of the majority of the local population.

Of course as soon as the head imam at UCIDAN sent the email “condemning” the arson and falsely saying Islam doesn’t do this, we was probably laughing with his buddies and thinking about the next young child to molest.
