A heinous crime has come to the fore in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. A minor girl was held captive and gangraped for two days in the Lahowal constituency. As per reports, the girl was abducted by one Bhaijan Ali. He took the girl to a nearby tea garden at Bebejia in Lahowal on February 3.
According to the Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Bitul Chetia, the minor girl was found unconscious near the Athabari tea garden with her hands and legs tied with rope. Police has arrested the prime accused Bhaijan Ali. Upon Ali’s confession, two others have also been arrested in the case.
ASP Chetia added, “We have found the girl and sent her to AMCH for further examination and treatment. We have also arrested the prime accused and started our investigation. We have booked the accused under POCSO Act, 2012 and 376 IPC. We are investigating the matter.”
ASP Chetia said, “We were informed about the incident this morning. We have recorded the statements of the victim, her family and other locals. Three accused are under police custody and are being interrogated. Meanwhile the girl is undergoing treatment at a hospital.”
The victim’s mother said, “A boy named Bhaijan Ali had abducted my daughter and raped her for two days. She went missing on February 3. He along with some others has forcefully assaulted my daughter. I want all the accused to get the required punishment so that they would not repeat such kind of heinous atrocities on any girl in the future.”
