France: ” The white man has to piss off, this is my town, we live here “- Victim of racism and death threats, a socialist politician resigns from the municipal council of Les Mureaux and leaves the municipality

“Yes, citizens of European origin can be the target of racism”. With these words, Boris Venon addressed the town council of Les Mureaux (Yvelines) for the last time on Wednesday September 28. Was this the last statement of a well-known politician before he left the stage? Far from it, reports Actu.fr: Boris Venon is in fact a long-time Socialist Party activist – but he had resigned as first federal secretary of the PS of the Yvelines department in April 2022 because he did not approve of his party’s rapprochement with La France insoumise. Boris Venon, who has been a member of the left majority in Les Mureaux since 2014 and second deputy mayor (PS) of Les Mureaux since 2020, has therefore decided to resign from all his posts.

In front of his colleagues, the former Socialist MP explained that he had been the victim of anti-white racism. “The white man has to piss off, this is my town, we live here”, that’s what I had to endure before they chased me to the front of my house and then threatened me with death”, Boris Venon told the city council in a very emotional way.

The former deputy mayor also spoke of homophobic insults. “He regretted that “a man whose entire political career has been on the political left” would “say this”.

The deeply scarred Boris Venon even decided to leave the town of Les Mureaux in addition to his offices. “I no longer identify myself with this town, which has changed a lot,” he recounted. The former MP has lived in Les Mureaux for many years and believes that the situation has deteriorated considerably for some time: “In the 14 years that I have lived in Les Mureaux, I have had no problems for twelve years. And in the last two years I have experienced as many as a dozen verbal attacks”.

Boris Venon gave up a career that looked promising: A loyal supporter of Mayor François Garay, he was often seen as his likely successor. A possibility that the socialist politician did not hide during his speech: “This is something I had not ruled out. It has always been my ambition to continue the policy that François Garay started.” However, this ambition seems to have been destroyed by the insults, ending Boris Venon’s political career. “I am making way for others,” he concluded, receiving a big hand from the entire city council.
