A British abortion charity is under fire for encouraging “sex-selective” terminations – despite it being against the law.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS), which carries out 110,000 terminations a year, has sparked controversy for suggesting that aborting a baby on the bass of sex is not illegal.

The charity faces accusations of acting irresponsibly given fears these are on the rise among the country’s Indian women.

Many pregnant British-Indian women are under a great deal of pressure to have boys, meaning they could be coerced into having an abortion as soon as a scan reveals a female foetus.

The latest figures show that women of Indian origin are likely to have aborted 400 girls on the basis of their six in the five years up to 2021.

On the BPAS website, it says: “The law is silent on the matter. Reason of foetal sex is not a specified ground for abortion within the Abortion Act, but nor is it specifically prohibited.”

The Department of Health’s own guidance, which was issued to doctors in 2014, reads: “Abortion on the grounds of gender alone is illegal.

“Gender is not itself a lawful ground under the abortion act.”

In the 2024/25 financial year, the charity recorded an income of £64 million, £63 million of which was derived from NHS-funded services.

Campaigners warn that sex-selective abortion remains a hidden but persistent problem. Dame Jasvinder Sanghera, a prominent activist against forced marriage, said there was no doubt the practice was occurring.

“There are many reasons,” she told The Times.

“Dowry culture still exists in some communities, meaning girls are seen as an immediate financial burden. Health professionals must stop looking the other way out of cultural sensitivity or fear of being labelled racist.”

Journalist and broadcaster Khadija Khan described abortion based purely on gender as “a repugnant practice”, while Rani Bilkhu, founder of Jeena International, which supports Asian victims of domestic abuse, said authorities were reluctant to address the issue.

“They worry the conversation will be framed as racism, but this is about lived experience,” she said.

“These are realities within our communities, and silence helps no one.”

Senior Conservative peer Baroness Eaton called the issue “a great tragedy” and urged lawmakers to act.

“Parliament must ensure there is an explicit ban on sex-selective abortion,” she said. “That would protect baby girls and women who are at risk of coercion.”

Catherine Robinson of the pro-life group Right To Life criticised BPAS for publishing guidance stating that sex-selective abortion is not explicitly mentioned in UK abortion law.

“It is irresponsible,” she said. “It risks normalising the practice and makes it harder for women to resist pressure from partners or family members who may insist on an abortion because the baby is a girl.”

She added that women trying to push back may be told that the UK’s largest abortion provider says the practice is not illegal.

Data from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) shows that among women of Indian origin, the sex ratio for first and second children mirrors the national average of 105 boys to 100 girls. However, for third births, the ratio rises sharply to 113 boys for every 100 girls.

Ms Bilkhu said pressure on women intensifies after the birth of one or two daughters.

“There is enormous expectation to produce a male child,” she said.

“That pressure comes from husbands and in-laws, regardless of education level or whether families are first- or second-generation immigrants.”

Responding to the criticism, BPAS spokesman Katie Saxon said: “Foetal sex is not mentioned in abortion law in the UK. The reasons women seek abortion care are varied and complex, and in our experience of supporting more than 100,000 women each year, it is extremely rare for anyone to request an abortion solely on the grounds of foetal sex.”

She added that there are circumstances, such as serious sex-specific medical conditions, where foetal sex may legitimately form part of clinical decision-making.

However, the DHSC said the Government’s stance was clear.

“Sex-selective abortion is illegal in England and Wales and will not be tolerated,” a spokesperson said. “Sex is not a lawful ground for termination, and it is a criminal offence for a practitioner to carry out an abortion for that reason alone. Any evidence of this practice should be reported to the police immediately.”

Case in point: UK police have confirmed that they are seeking information from the FBI on unverified claims published in recently released court documents related to so-called ‘pedophile ring parties’.

The claims were made by a US woman, who alleged that these parties involved high-profile figures in the UK.

“The person alleges they were driven to the gatherings by their father when they were between six and eight years old, and claims they were later drugged.

[…] According to the latest tranche of documents, released on Monday night, the victim was once taken to royal property Frogmore Cottage, where they were restrained and tortured with electric shocks by Ghislaine Maxwell. They claim that Andrew and other men watched on as the torture took place.”

Police in the UK says they were not previously aware of the allegations.

The woman spoke to the FBI before Maxwell’s bail hearing ahead of her trial in the United States.

Surrey Police reportedly found no evidence of these allegations, so they are engaging with relevant agencies to obtain access to the redacted information.

“’We take all reports of child abuse seriously and encourage anyone with information in relation to these allegations to report this to us online, or via 101.’”

The victim also claims to be have been taken to Epstein’s house in Florida.

“‘I was molested by a man that I later recognized as Epstein when he was in the news.’ They added: ‘He took pornographic photographs of me in a skirt’.”

One of the most infamous cases is Lucy Connolly, the mother of two children, who had lost her little boy after his hospitalization, and expressed her anger after the brutal Muslim terrorist murders of three little girls at a dance studio. Lucy was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison even while Islamists have been allowed to spout their support for terrorism and genocide.

Meanwhile Muslims are not only allowed to call for the mass murder of non-Muslims, but actively welcomed if they do so.

Alaa Abd El-Fattah, an Egyptian Muslim with a British mother, who had been imprisoned in Egypt for what the Left and the media claimed was “activism” had lots of thoughts about the British, Jews and killing all white people.

In posts circulating on social media on Saturday, he said he considered it “heroic” to kill “any colonialists and specially Zionists”, adding: “We need to kill more of them.”

In a series of tweets from his account, posted between 2008 and 2010, he heaped praise on Osama Bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda and mastermind of the Sept 11 terror attacks on the US.

He expressed his intention to “join Bin Laden” on five separate occasions, saying in one post: “Now all I can think of is joining Bin Laden and killing a few Americans.”

The following year, he declared that “police are not human”, adding: “They don’t have rights, we should just kill them all.”

In a separate post he wrote: “I’m telling you that I hate white people.”

“Humanity will be not be redeemed until we commit genocide against all white people (some of my best friends are white)”

PM Keir Starmer announced Alaa Abd El-Fattah’s arrival in the UK with a tweet, “I’m delighted that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in the UK and has been reunited with his loved ones, who must be feeling profound relief.”

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy tweeted, “delighted that Alaa Abd El-Fattah has been reunited with his family in the UK. I thank the Government of Egypt for this outcome.     I first met Alaa’s family in Opposition, and I committed to them then that I would do everything I could to advocate for his return. It’s an immense relief that this has now happened.”

If you tweet against Muslim mass migration, you will be arrested. If you tweet for killing white people and Jews, PM Starmer and Lammy along with the rest of the British leftist elite will welcome you in with open arms.

Dozens of celebrities – including the actors Dame Judi Dench, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Olivia Colman and Bill Nighy – backed the “Free Alaa” campaign.

Alex Hearn, the co-director of the campaign group Labour Against Anti-Semitism, said: “It is reckless at best to openly state that getting him into Britain was their ‘top priority’ which they were ‘delighted’ to achieve, especially following deadly attacks on Jews.
“There is absolutely a case for revoking his citizenship. He should have been arrested on arrival in the UK, not welcomed.”

Despite the fact that all of this was widely known long ago, PM Starmer claimed that he knew nothing about it. The BBC and the rest of the UK media refuse to actually quote Fattah’s tweets and instead insist that he’s an “activist” and that the Tories are bad people for wanting him gone.

The Right has, understandably, been in a joyous mood as of late. Populism is on the rise almost everywhere across the West; Trump’s return to power, almost a year ago, put an end to the notion that wokery had come to stay, that it could not be reverted, and that conservatives would sooner or later have to come to terms with it. We now know that collective neurosis can, indeed, be led to collapse under the weight of its own absurdities—if only those of us who are sensible and patient enough have the energy for the fight. But triumphalism is a dangerous false friend, as the events surrounding the quiet cancellation of Christmas in Portugal have come to show.

When government-rule schools decide, without consultation with parents, to purge all Christmas imagery from class photographs in the name of ‘inclusion,’ the problem is far larger—and politically more relevant—than a mere forgettable bureaucratic misstep. That was what happened in Pinhal Novo, where a number of government schools decided to simply erase any Christmas-related symbolism from their premises with the argument that Christmas might offend immigrant minorities living in the country. They did so by preventing children from having class photographs taken with anything that might be related to the festive occasion. Instead, the pupils were forced to do them in sanitised sets with a blackboard, a globe, and a pencil. Not much fun, really.

This was the practical expression of an ideological worldview that has learned to disguise itself as neutrality. Now on the defensive, the Left no longer wages open war against tradition; it empties it of content and presents the void as moral progress. Proclaiming head-on the urgency of immolating native religion and national culture seems a tad too much in the era of Trump and Meloni, but how about pretending it is not self-erasure we’re engaged in, but an act of enlightened compassion and benevolent hospitality? For that, indeed, there might yet be narrative room—so much so, indeed, that those responsible for the shameful decision haven’t even found themselves forced to apologise for the incident.

That no one must feel ‘excluded’ is the familiar justification. Yet this abstract concern is never grounded in any concrete complaint. No parents, whether native-born but irreligious Portuguese or those of immigrant backgrounds, are actually known to have felt offended. No minority mobilised against Christmas. There were no demands for a great purge of Christmas decorations and symbology from any group. Instead, a hypothetical sensibility was elevated above lived reality, and on its altar, a real, shared cultural practice was sacrificed. The result wasn’t inclusion, but denial. It wasn’t tolerance or anything resembling it, but ugly, naked cultural self-censorship.

Portugal is a profoundly Catholic country. It is the nation that Christianised half the world, from Nagasaki to Brazil. Christmas, in Portugal, is not merely a religious observance. It is a marker of civilisation—the language of memory, ritual, and belonging that grounds the shared existence of the Portuguese people. An attack on Christmas, therefore, is an attack on the nation itself. When schools remove Christmas symbols, they are not making space for diversity; they are signalling that the majority’s culture is unworthy of being observed or continued. They are saying that they want to abolish it altogether.

For these latter-day disciples of wokery, diversity ought to include everything, indeed—every habit, no matter how harmful; every belief, no matter how silly or foreign; every tradition, no matter how meaningless or, in Portugal’s specific national context, artificial. Everyone is to be invited to the grand table of diversity, except one despised guest—ourselves. Everything is permitted in the public square—except historical continuity. Every identity must be affirmed—except the one that already exists. 

This latest episode follows a well-known script. It begins with a supposedly technocratic decision, taken behind closed doors. Then, the opportunistic moral framing, with critics accused of intolerance, backwardness, or latent extremism. Finally, following public outcry, the self-serving attempt at damage control. The issue, however, is not whether or not schoolchildren were forbidden from posing with Christmas decorations for their class photos. It is the poisonous worldview that made this sanitisation seem reasonable and virtuous in the first place.

Under the previous left-wing government of António Costa, now the lame duck President of the European Council, the same logic reshaped language, curricula, and public broadcasting. This largely continues to this day, despite a flurry of promises from the new, faux conservative, EPP-aligned executive of Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. Gender ideology is introduced to children as settled science. Recently, the state television broadcaster RTP, a known bastion of the far left largely impervious to democratic control, caused a national scandal after running a series of repugnant cartoons for schoolchildren. The programme, named “Sex Symbols,” praised transsexuality to school-age children. On their official educational website for kids and youngsters, RTP still writes in no uncertain terms: “Today, it is known that biological sex does not determine gender, just as gender does not determine sexual orientation. … The process of [sex change] is broad. Cláudio may become Cláudia and Joana might become João, but what there is to alter might include voice, haircut, body and changing the sex itself.” These are the things the Portuguese taxpayer is still being forced to finance after almost two years of a so-called ‘centre-right’ government.

Defenders of these measures insist this is not about ideology. That claim is perhaps the most ideological of all. Only a movement deeply convinced of its own moral superiority could believe that stripping symbols, renaming traditions, and reengineering childhood education is somehow apolitical. It isn’t. Wokery is trying to survive by presenting itself as common sense—as the only position that does not require justification.

This is about far more than tinsel and carols. It is about the right of a society to recognise itself without apology. Christmas is Portugal itself, and there can be no Portugal without it. If, indeed, there are those to whom this might cause discomfort, they are more than welcome to simply not come.

A former MI6 operative has issued a stark warning that Britain faces the threat of a catastrophic terrorist attack comparable to 9/11 or the 7/7 London.

Aimen Dean, who worked as a double agent within the terrorist organisation for eight years while feeding intelligence to British security services, believes an attack is inevitable.

“It’s not about if another 9/11 or 7/7 attack will happen; it’s about when,” he told the Sun.

The former informant, whose undercover work proved instrumental in thwarting major plots against Western targets, warned the UK harbours “hundreds” of potential Al-Qaida sleeper agents who could be activated to strike at any moment.

Mr Dean argues Islamic extremism and Iranian influence represent the gravest dangers facing the West today.

His journey from terrorist to intelligence asset began in his teenage years, when he joined Al-Qaida and received bomb-making training in the Afghan mountains over an 11-month period.

During his time with the organisation, he worked alongside some of the world’s most dangerous figures, including Abu Khabab, who oversaw the development of Al-Qaida’s mass-casualty weapons programme until a CIA drone strike killed him in 2008.

His intelligence gathering for MI5 and MI6 proved invaluable in disrupting terrorist operations, most notably a planned attack on New York’s underground transport network orchestrated by Khabab.

The information Mr Dean provided to British and American security services is believed to have prevented hundreds, possibly thousands, of deaths during his eight years operating covertly within Al-Qaida’s ranks.

Mr Dean contends that Western governments have misdirected their attention by treating Russia as the principal adversary, when Tehran poses the more pressing danger to British citizens.

He argued Iran has provided sanctuary to Al-Qaida for a quarter of a century, creating conditions that have enabled sleeper cells to mount attacks against British nationals, including deadly assaults on UK citizens in the United Arab Emirates.

“A threat like Iran needs to be countered because of the fact that they are a nation that has sponsored terrorism,” he stated.

While acknowledging it remains “impossible” to determine the precise number of Al-Qaida operatives present in Britain, he insists the figure runs into the hundreds at minimum.

“Unfortunately, I would love to tell you the world is an amazing place, but it’s not,” he added.

Mr Dean’s path to radicalisation began at just 17, when he encountered Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the architect of the September 11 attacks, following a year spent fighting in Bosnia.

By 18, he had pledged his personal allegiance to Osama bin Laden and was receiving explosives training in Afghanistan, where his aptitude for mathematics drew him to the technical aspects of bomb construction.

However, the 1998 suicide bombings targeting American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania fundamentally altered his worldview.

The attacks claimed 200 lives and left 4,000 wounded, prompting Mr Dean to recognise he had chosen the wrong path.

To extricate himself from the organisation, he feigned illness and travelled to Qatar, where he formally renounced Al-Qaida.

Just nine days later, MI6 agents made contact, recognising his potential value as an intelligence asset.

Mr Dean’s covert operations brought him into contact with Al-Qaida’s entire hierarchy, from bin Laden himself down to recruiters such as the notorious hook-handed preacher Abu Hamza at Finsbury Park Mosque.

His double life came to an abrupt end when Time magazine published an article online that, while not naming him directly, contained sufficient detail for Al-Qaida to identify their mole.

Mr Dean immediately contacted his MI5 and MI6 handlers and was rushed to London, where he was placed in protective accommodation and given a new identity.

He has since published a memoir detailing his experiences as an undercover operative.

Brigitte Bardot, the French screen legend who walked away from the film industry to support animal rights and lead opposition to open borders and mass immigration, has died. She was 91.

The Guardian reports Paris-born Bardot shot to international fame with the 1956 film And God Created Woman, written and directed by her then-husband Roger Vadim.

For the next two decades she embodied the idea of the archetypal “sex kitten.”

Her work on screen was not to last. The Guardian notes in the early 70s she announced her retirement from acting and became increasingly active politically.

Bardot’s outspoken support of animal rights evolved into comments about ethnic minorities and open support for France’s Front National, resulting in a string of convictions for racial hatred.

Acknowledged as a symbol of woman’s liberation, Bardot told Le Figaro in 20915 she was against the Muslim face veil.

“Communitarianism takes on too much importance. It is the culmination of thirty years of laxity.”

A committed free speech activist, the actress faced trial five times between 1997 and 2008 for “inciting racial hatred” including for comments criticising mass Muslim immigration in France.

On one of these occasions, she was convicted for “decrying the loss of French identity and tradition due to the ‘multiplication of mosques while our church bells fall silent for want of priests’.”

She always maintained she simply respected the French way of life and sought to protect it and its inheritors.

Bardot was also a vocal opponent of Muslim halal slaughter, which often involves slaughtering an animal without stunning it, causing pain and distress before death.

Bruno Jacquelin, of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the protection of animals, told the Associated Press she died at her home in southern France, and would not provide a cause of death. He said no arrangements have yet been made for funeral or memorial services.

Bardot had been hospitalized last month.

The King tied it to values like compassion and reconciliation, praising how people of different faiths share a “longing for peace,” a nice sentiment, perhaps, but one that ignores reality.

“As I meet people of different faiths, I find it enormously encouraging to hear how much we have in common; a shared longing for peace and a deep respect for all life. If we can find time in our journey through life to think on these virtues we can all make the future more hopeful,” Charles said.

Charles invoked the Christmas story of journeys and hope, noting the Holy Family’s homelessness and the Wise Men’s pilgrimage. He even quoted poet T.S. Eliot on finding a “still point” amid chaos.

However, critics are slamming the address as out-of-touch, especially after a year of violent unrest in cities like Leeds and Manchester, where tensions over unchecked immigration boiled over into violent clashes with police.

People were quick to slam the comment on social media, with several posting the alarming diversity arrest rates in Britain.

On the same week that media outlets such DW posted articles about closed German Churches being repurposed as gyms while others wrote of the news that 47 Catholics leave the German Church every day, it was important the Stuttgart’s Saint Mary’s Parish put their best foot forward to get people back in the pews.

Instead, they put on what is objectively the weirdest thing we have ever seen in a Catholic liturgy. In fact, maybe in any capacity ever.

Their parish website, when looking forward to the event, stated:

The incarnation of God in a vulnerable world is the focus of the televised service and is powerfully illustrated by a performative Nativity scene featuring a real person wrapped in rice paper

We don’t want to provoke, but we also don’t want to look away. We want to inspire.

Well, you can’t always get what you want and it appears as though the only thing that they inspired was revulsion across the globe.[…]

Can a statue be the victim of sexual assault? This is a very serious question that recently stirred up Parisians for several weeks. In the heart of Montmartre, the famous hill where artists and lovers of Paris have gathered for nearly two centuries, stands a bust of the Egyptian-born singer Dalida, known to the French for several immortal songs that have become part of the national musical heritage.

Like so many others, Dalida frequented Montmartre for many years and made it her home from 1962 until her death in 1987. She now rests for eternity in the Montmartre cemetery overlooking the hill.

On the small square that bears her name, a bust by the sculptor Aslan was erected in her honour in 1997, on the tenth anniversary of her death. Passersby and tourists brush against it and touch it. Tradition has it that she brings good luck in love. People take photos of themselves next to Dalida, smiling, while caressing her generous curves. The gesture is so frequent that the metal has changed colour, and the singer now seems to be wearing a strange golden bustier where the bronze has been polished and re-polished.

How many millions have touched her? Considering that Montmartre is one of the most popular tourist districts in Paris, the numbers are certainly staggering. That makes for a lot of culprits. Because it is indeed a crime to caress the star so voluptuously. And every crime calls for punishment.

Acrime: that is how Parisian Green Party politicians see it. Several of them have therefore taken up the issue at the Paris Council, explaining that allowing Dalida to be assaulted in this way was “a form of trivialization of non-consent and a symbol of the appropriation of women’s bodies in public spaces.” The Wikipedia entry on the Montmartre square has been duly amended to lecture us: “This lack of respect is symptomatic of a certain conception of women’s bodies,” the encyclopedia tells us in a stern tone.

Other statues around the world have suffered the same fate. Ask Saint Peter what he thinks, whose poor right foot has been rubbed for much longer than Dalida’s breasts. In the Parisian church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, where there is a statue of him, his foot shines brightly, carefully polished by tourists and pilgrims. On the 13th-century statue found in the nave of the basilica in Rome that bears his name, the toes have even disappeared from being rubbed so much.

To be precise, for the past ten years or so, it has been forbidden to polish the foot of the guardian of paradise, and pilgrims seeking to appease the one who will open the gates of heaven for them on Judgment Day are invited to address their supplications from afar and in their thoughts. The reason is quite simple to guess: a few more centuries of pilgrimage, and the foot will eventually disappear. A crippled Saint Peter would not look good, if we may say so.

In the case of Saint Peter, it is not a question of eroticism, but of common sense and the preservation of heritage. But let’s get back to Dalida: the problem concerning her is quite different. This time, it’s about sexism, street harassment, consent, and all those terrible things that the Left has invented to vent its negative energy on males (white, if possible), who provide them with some kind of rustproof culprits. In 2025, such scandals cannot be aired in public without retaliation. Since Dalida’s statue cannot file a complaint for sexual harassment, others are taking care of it. Fortunately, feminists exist to deal with this kind of complicated situation.

In a civilized world, all this might raise a gentle smile. In the world we live in, the energy expended by this handful of embittered city councillors to defend Dalida’s modesty is appalling. Every day in Paris, hundreds of women are followed, harassed, assaulted, and sometimes raped. They suffer in their flesh and blood, but the self-proclaimed representatives of women’s cause see it as more urgent to worry about a piece of bronze. Faced with the increase in daily assaults, they respond by stigmatizing a ‘feeling of crime’—allegedly fuelled by the ‘far right’—and shifting their fight to the supposed rights of a statue of a singer from the 1960s.

One can argue that the act of fondling Dalida’s breasts shows remarkably poor taste. There is no doubt about that. But then again, it is only a statue. What would be the response to this attack? Cover Dalida up? What a wonderful idea: feminists, after campaigning for the right to wear miniskirts and for sexual liberation now find themselves covering statues like those Iranians who thought it appropriate to cover ancient Roman statues. Our ancestors were not so prudish, delighting in decorating palaces and gardens with seductively curvy Venuses, without anyone finding fault with it.

Another solution: dismantle the statue and put it in storage. That would drastically solve the problem. Women in the closet: that pretty much sums up the result of sixty years of feminist struggle.

The final word goes to Orlando, Dalida’s brother and sole heir, who donated the statue to the city of Paris. Faced with what he described as the “ridiculous” nature of the controversy, he felt compelled to speak out. With a good deal of common sense, he believes that the gesture denounced by Parisian Greens is in no way disrespectful but rather expresses “affection and admiration.” He pointed out that nothing can be done without his consent regarding this poor statue, which has asked for nothing. He said he might be in favour of raising the statue’s pedestal. However, he specified that “this is the only change I will authorize. There is no question of putting up educational signs or fences,” he warned, considering that Dalida belongs to the public. “By prohibiting everything, we end up prohibiting nothing.”

An illegal migrant from Africa who had a deportation order is suspected of stabbing three women on the Paris metro on Friday in what appears to be another example of the French immigration system failing to protect the public.

A Malian migrant was arrested on Friday evening after three women were attacked on the number 3 line of the Parisian metro system between 4:15 and 4:45 pm local time.

Thankfully, the lives of the three victims are not in danger as their wounds were superficial. However, the 25-year-old African should not have been in the country had authorities performed their duty, reports indicate.

According to Le Figaro, citing sources from within the Paris prosecutor’s office, the illegal from Mali was previously imprisoned last year for aggravated theft and sexual assault.

He was released in July and was issued with a OQTF deportation orders, yet nearly half a year later, has still not been removed from the country.

Following the attack on Friday, an investigation into attempted murder has been opened by the Regional Transport Security Service (SRT), which is reportedly not currently considering terrorism as a motivating factor. The suspect is believed to be “mentally unstable”.

The incident appears to be the latest case in which a migrant with an OQTF “Obligation de Quitter le Territoire Français” deportation order has gone on to further victimise innocent members of the public.

The system came under heavy scrutiny following last year’s killing of Philippine Le Noir de Carlan, a 19-year-old student in Paris. The suspect in the case, a Moroccan migrant, had been previously issued with an OQTF order after having been jailed for rape but authorities had failed to remove him before the killing of Philippine.

The government has long struggled to carry out deportation orders, with many migrants arriving in the country after having either discarded or destroyed their identity paperwork.

According to analysis from Le Figaro, just 9,160 of the 134,000 OQTF orders were carried out in 2022, good for a successful removal rate of just 6.9 per cent.

Unsurprisingly, there is widespread appetite in France for a reform of the status quo. A survey taken earlier this year found that nearly nine in ten French voters would support a system in which those issued with deportation orders were remanded in jail until they are removed from the country.
