A council has spent over £2million in taxpayer money to translate materials for people who do not speak English.

Figures uncovered by a Conservative councillor have revealed that Cardiff Council has used taxpayer money to pay a £2,047,975 bill to translate materials for people who cannot speak English.

The sums, disclosed in response to written questions tabled by Cllr Calum Davies, show that Cardiff Council over the last five years spent £1,145,525 of public money on pre-booked interpretation services.

An additional £506,034 was used for instant interpretation services.

Meanwhile, a further £396,416 went on translating documents between English and foreign languages.

Translating materials to Arabic incurred the highest cost at £314,446, far ahead of next placed Czech and Bengali on £125,631 and £96,289, respectively.

£72,932 was spent on translating documents to and from Arabic alone, while Czech and Bengali hoovered up a little over £41,000 each.

Materials translated on an annual basis are part of a budget consultation and an Ask Cardiff survey that evaluates citizens’ views on the council.

The council also has a webpage and animated video that is called “Tips on applying for a school in Arabic.”

Cllr Calum Davies said: “Cardiff and Britain are running out of money under Labour, so why are we frittering away millions on translation and interpretation, indulging a broken immigration system and failing integration policy when we have no obligation to do so?

“People expect public money to go on the frontline services that serve them before anyone else, so Cardiff residents will be at a loss to know why we are being told immigration is to our economic advantage when Council Tax is going up for wasteful spending like this.”

The average household in Cardiff is paying over £1,700 a year in Council Tax, meaning the total bill of all of the costs is equivalent to over 1,172 households’ full contribution of tax.

Council Tax within Cardiff has also exceeded the rate of inflation since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

William Yarwood, Campaign director at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, added: “Councils can’t afford to waste millions on translation costs.

“Ratepayers are facing record bills, yet councils continue to subsidise foreign families that don’t bother to learn the language.

“Local authorities must stop this soft-touch approach and expect residents to speak English.”

It comes as Cllr Calum Davies highlighted statistics showing that one-in-five social housing tenants in Cardiff were born abroad – most of whom are unemployed.

A Cardiff Council spokesman told GB News: “Cardiff is a proudly diverse, multicultural and multilingual city.

“Providing information in languages other than English and Welsh helps ensure residents can access essential council services, understand important information and participate in consultations on matters that affect them.

“The figures referenced represent cumulative expenditure over approximately four years, rather than a single year’s spending.

“Cardiff Council has the highest demand for language support of any local authority in Wales and during that period, language support services were provided to thousands of residents.

“During 2025/26 alone, 13,000 instances of support were provided across face-to-face, video and telephone interpreting, as well as written translation, covering more than 60 languages, including British Sign Language (BSL).”

Germany: Syrian Man Not Required To Find a Job To Avoid “Provoking” Him

Medforth AI

A homeless immigrant man will continue to receive benefits and not be asked to find a job by the Ennepe-Ruhr district job center in Germany, as the office says the man is dangerous and should not be “provoked.”

The man in question is Amer G., a Syrian asylum seeker who reportedly arrived in Germany in 2015 and has become known in Witten for publicly reciting verses from the Quran using a loudspeaker.

For years, residents have complained about Amer’s loud recitations. According to reports, he walks through Witten’s city center on a daily basis, while reciting Quran verses, sometimes in the early morning hours. Police and the public order office have been dealing with the man for a long time.

According to the job center documents, Amer continues to receive €563 per month in citizen’s allowance as a single person. His current benefit approval period is scheduled to run until July 2027. He currently lives in a homeless shelter and therefore does not receive additional housing allowance. Yet despite receiving benefits, the man has reportedly not been invited to job search interviews for years. Support programs and concrete employment offers have also largely ceased.

The special treatment began with a memo dated August 7, 2023. Job center staff reportedly concluded that placement in employment appeared impossible because of Amer’s “background.” The decisive justification was that “potentially dangerous situations should not be provoked.”

The Syrian man was subsequently classified as “exempt from activation.” The reported arrangement means that Amer has largely been spared the standard measures applied to other benefit recipients, including regular appointments, training programs, and the requirement to actively seek employment.

Documents seen by German media outlets indicate that the concerns about “potentially dangerous situations” had already been raised before the August 2023 decision. According to the report, Amer’s probation officer contacted the job center three months earlier and reportedly asked that the man not be “provoked.”

The North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Labor has criticized the principle behind such an arrangement. The ministry stated that removing a person from active job placement solely because of a potential risk to public safety is “illegal and not provided for by law.”

For Amer, however, the arrangement has meant years of largely discontinued job placement efforts at the expense of the German taxpayer.

PM Sanchez Defends Moroccan Invasion, Blames Israeli ‘Misinformation’

The “sacred struggle to liberate the occupied cities along the Atlantic Ocean”

When politicians spend a lot of time talking about ‘misinformation’, you know that a big lie is on the verge of falling apart.

wrote earlier this week that PM Pedro Sanchez’s lie that the invasion of 80,000 from Morocco into Ceuta is under control and the invaders will go back is coming apart. Instead, the Spanish government is asserting emergency control, trying to seize spaces to house the migrants and preparing doses of tens of thousands of vaccines that have to be administered across a year.

In response, Prime Minister Sanchez is continuing his media tour, denying the obvious, that Morocco was behind the invasion from its territory and blaming Israeli and Russian “misinformation”.

How about we start with this very informational piece of ‘misinformation’.

Then the Moroccan Minister of Islamic Affairs cited the “sacred struggle to liberate the occupied cities along the Atlantic Ocean” while referencing the Islamic history of Ceuta and its connections to Mohammed.

Nothing to see here, I’m sure. Or here.
