Irish gov’t demonizes mothers by going after ‘tradwife influencers’

The Irish government is waging a quiet war on traditional wives and mothers, dressed up as a campaign for women’s “equality.”

The Journal claimed that this has been “debunked,” but the Irish government’s strategy is transparent enough to those who read its documents. They don’t want Irish women so much as listening to “tradwives” who promote the traditional lifestyle of staying at home to care for one’s children, home and husband.

How do we know this? The government’s admission is in their recently issued three-year Action Plan designed to implement last year’s National Strategy for Women and Girls 2025-2030, which aims to achieve “gender equality” for women.

That National Strategy decries “tradwife influencers” who “seek to promote restrictive, stereotypical roles for women and girls.” It also disparages “patriarchal norms, often focused on men as decision-makers and breadwinners and on women as carers.” (Read: mothers)

It claims these norms “uphold harmful stereotypes and limit life opportunities, preventing women from pursuing particular career paths and economic opportunities and inhibiting men’s likelihood of engaging in caring roles for their children or Dependants.”

It is clear here that the government views the promotion of the role of stay-at-home mother and wife as harmful.

Accordingly, its 2026-2028 Action Plan for its National Strategy for Women and Girls states that one national goal is to “Reduce people’s exposure to harmful gender norms and stereotypes, including in online spaces.”

Even to a disinterested observer, such an aim should seem strange. If the government truly cared about women and respected their autonomy and judgment, it would allow women to hear different points of view and make up their own mind about whether they want to devote themselves full time to motherhood or not.

The Irish government’s goals, like those of so many institutions that are falling in lockstep with the globalist agenda, reveal an ideological bias that clearly does not regard staying at home to mother one’s children and entering the workforce as two equally valuable choices.

Whether its proponents recognize it or not, this agenda seeks to weaken and undermine motherhood as well as the family.

It is, in fact, a poisonous agenda. It seeks to perpetuate one root cause of so many of today’s societal ills — women’s neglect of the care of their children in favor of focusing on their career.

This does not mean women are intentionally or consciously neglecting their children, or even that they want to be in the workforce instead of at home, because many women feel they are financially forced to take on a job outside the home. Or is working at home while caring for one’s children equivalent to taking a job outside the home and putting kids in daycare.

Children’s separation from their mothers has a more profound negative impact than many realize. A prominent psychoanalyst has warned in recent years, for example, that daycare is “absolutely terrible” for children age three and younger due to their spike in stress levels resulting from separation from their mother.

“(S)tudies show that babies who are put in daycare have very, very high salivary cortisol levels,” Dr. Erica Komisar pointed out, referring to the main human stress hormone. These cortisol levels are “through the roof in babies who are separated from their mothers or primary attachment figures under the age of three.”

“And so when you raise those levels of stress hormones in the brain, it actually doesn’t allow the brain to develop in a normal way. It ends up forcing the brain to develop in a pathologically adaptive, neurologically compromised way,” Komisar warned.

For this reason alone, the government should be encouraging women to stay at home with their children, not discouraging it by seeking to suppress, censor, and hide the voices of tradwife influencers.

It is not only the healthy psychological development of its future citizens at stake but the well-being of the very women it claims to serve and the happiness of its families.

As CNBC has reported, based on Gallup research, “Women have reported higher levels of burnout than men for years, a gap that has more than doubled since 2019.”

The agenda of suppressing the traditional role of wife and mother in fact suggests an anti-woman, anti-feminine bias according to which women have greater value if they have a career, taking on the traditionally masculine role of breadwinner.

The idea that women need to be “protected” from “tradwife” ideas further suggests that women are like children, whose intellects are too undeveloped to assess their own lifestyle options.

This crusade against traditional motherhood should make Irish women stop and think: Is this really about women’s empowerment, or something else?
