The Christian Democratic Union was the party of former Chancellor Angela Merkel, who ushered in the days of open-door mass migration in Germany. Now the CDU is attempting to formulate a plan to deal with the nation’s migration woes. Stated in its new manifesto:
Muslims belong to Germany so long as they “share our values.”
Implied in this statement is a recognition by the CDU that Islam may not be a “religion of peace” after all, and that German values and law must be respected and obeyed by people who are living in Germany, even above Sharia values.
Only time will tell how serious the CDU is about its manifesto, immigration reform and confronting Islam in its country.
