French Muslims agitate against survey proving radicalisation of French Muslims

A survey accused of ‘distilling the poison of hatred’ and ‘reinforcing amalgams’. Several officials from Muslim organisations announced in a press release that they had filed a complaint following the publication of a survey by the IFOP Institute entitled ‘State of relations with Islam and Islamism among Muslims in France’, which was published on November 18.

According to the complaint lodged by the Departmental Councils of the Muslim Faith of Loiret, Aube and Bouches-du-Rhône, ‘this survey violates the principle of objectivity established in the law of July 19, 1977 on the publication and dissemination of opinion polls, is based on biased questions and focuses on minority results that are presented for polemical purposes.’

Lawyers Raphaël Kempf and Romain Ruiz describe the magazine that commissioned the survey as ‘vague and reactionary,’ adding that ‘by distilling the poison of hatred in the public sphere, this survey reinforces correlations in a context where figures from the Ministry of the Interior show an explosion of anti-Muslim acts, an increase of 75% compared to 2024.’ .

They concluded: ‘This survey, conducted by several far-right media outlets, is an insult to Muslims in France and an insult to the values of equality and fraternity promoted by our Republic.’
