France : An illegal Senegalese migrant damages about 30 graves in the Saint-Louis cemetery in Évreux; all the crosses have been ripped out

Around 30 graves in the Saint-Louis cemetery in Évreux were damaged on Wednesday March 8, 2023. A 39-year-old man was arrested by the police.

Crucifixes torn out

It was just after 10.30 a.m. when the police forces intervened at the Saint-Louis cemetery in the city centre after witnesses reported several cases of damage to property. The suspect, had just unscrewed or torn out crucifixes from about 30 gravestones.

The alleged offender was a 39-year-old Senegalese national who had no permanent address and had entered the country illegally. He was arrested and taken into police custody. Paris-Normandie
