It is getting more and more out of control: Islamists attacked a police patrol in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin, chanting “Allahu akbar” (Allah is great) and throwing two Molotov cocktails at the patrol car. The eight to ten hooded men managed to escape.
The police officers were on their way at around 1 a.m. on Friedrichstraße in the centre of Berlin. They had been alerted to a burning rubbish container. Today it is assumed that the officers were deliberately lured into an ambush. As soon as they arrived at the scene, eight to ten people suddenly appeared in the darkness. They were masked with scarves.
Suddenly, objects were thrown in the direction of the police car. They were two burning Molotov cocktails. The Islamist gang shouted “Allahu akbar” – ” Allah is great” – and then fled.
The police officers turned out to be very in luck, the incendiary devices did not ignite. The two officers and a colleague were unharmed and were later able to continue their duties. The State Security Service at the State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation.
