A 44-year-old man suspected of planning to assassinate his girlfriend’s ex-husband at her request was arrested on Friday afternoon in Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis) and subsequently taken into police custody at the premises of the Paris criminal investigation brigade, Actu17 reported. Investigators suspect that the two suspects, who are known for their radicalisation, intended to carry out their plan in the coming days.
In this case, preliminary investigations were launched on December 7 by the Interregional Special Jurisdiction (JIRS) in Paris after they received information pointing to this criminal plan. The investigators learnt that Estelle*, a 41-year-old woman from the Hauts-de-Seine department who converted to Islam and is listed in an S file, had fallen out with her 34-year-old ex-husband, in particular over their four children, of whom she has custody.
In recent weeks, the woman is said to have told her new boyfriend Hamid*, a 44-year-old former Thai boxing champion, about her dislike and desire to get rid of her ex-partner. Long discussions within the couple are said to have led to a plan for murder, while a court decision on custody of Estelle and her ex-partner’s children is due in early 2024. Hamid knows the former husband and is said to have a “conflicted” relationship with him “characterised by rivalry”, according to a source familiar with the case. Estelle, for her part, is suspected of having “motivated” her boyfriend to commit the murder, which both are said to have meticulously prepared. Actu17
