France: North African man beats up a woman after trying to rip off her clothes in the street

As she was walking up the stairs in Le Suquet in Cannes, she had clearly noticed a person walking behind her. A man of sturdy build, dressed in a parka with a hood, was following her.

On December 28, the petite woman in her fifties took a step to the side to let the stranger pass. But instead of moving on, he grabbed her by the collar and shouted: “Show me your breasts”. (…)

Panicked, she tries to free herself from his grip. When he fails to tear her clothes off, the drunken attacker violently throws her to the ground, hits her head on the pavement and then kicks her in the face. His trainers are smeared with his victim’s blood.

She was in shock, her face was swollen and she suffered a broken nose (7 days temporary incapacity to work). She turned her eyes away from the dock where her attacker was sitting in immediate charge on Friday. “He had taken pleasure in his deed,” she finally revealed.

However, we do not learn more, as Farid G., a 43-year-old Tunisian, will request a period of time to prepare his defence on the advice of his lawyer. (…)

He is still being held in pre-trial detention. His trial is adjourned until the 31st of January 2024.
