WATCH: Unlike Austrians, Orientals are not subject to Corona restrictions in Vienna – Persians light unmolested bonfires in the middle of Stephansplatz Square – Brawls between Turks and Kurds – Attacks on gays

On Sunday, hundreds of migrants celebrated the Persian Spring Festival at Stephansplatz Square in Vienna. At the end of the event, riots broke out.

Immigrants provoke with loud celebrations in front of St. Stephen’s Cathedral

In the night from March 20 to 21, the equinox “Nouruz” has been celebrated as the beginning of spring in several oriental countries for more than 3,000 years. Until now, there have been no public Persian New Year celebrations in Austria. But that changed last Sunday: The migrants are becoming more and more self-confident and drive out of the area districts into the city centre to let the rest of the local population take part in their goings-on.

Police did not intervene despite Corona violations and bonfires

That same evening, numerous videos were circulating on various social media platforms, showing loud shouting, music and scenes of violence. The migrants dance embraced tightly and often without wearing face masks and subsequently set fire to a bonfire in the middle of Stephansplatz Square. The police do not intervene at any time. Where are the strict checkers on distance-keeping and mask-wearing like at the Corona protests, where there were thousands of charges for exactly the same “offences”?

Turks against Kurds: Celebration escalates into brawl – as well as attacks on gays

Omnipresent in all this is the flag with the emblem of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK, and the likeness of its founder Abdullah Öczalan, sentenced to life imprisonment. Once again, Vienna becomes the arena for foreign conflicts.

No wonder, then, that after some time, passers-by of presumed Turkish origin began to disrupt the celebration, which had been announced as a “rally”. According to eyewitnesses, anti-gay statements were also made, as the “tweet” of relevant activists below shows. The revolution is clearly eating its children.

Nevertheless, the police of the Minister of the Interior, Nehammer, is satisfied with the course of the evening:

The rally was basically peaceful, and there was only a short disruptive action at the end of the meeting. However, this was quickly pacified without further incidents by the intervention of the police. After the end of the rally, a man attacked a police officer in the course of an official act and was temporarily arrested on suspicion of attempted resistance to state authority.
