Boulder’s mass killer not a ‘white domestic terrorist’ but a product of media bias

The mass shooter who killed ten people in Boulder, Colorado, is not a “white domestic terrorist”, but a Syrian immigrant. He has been identified by American law enforcement as the 21-year-old Ahmad al-Aliwi al-Issa.

The Islamist shooter was shot in the leg as he was gunning down white shoppers including a white police officer in a grocery store. He was taken to hospital for treatment before being charged with 10 counts of murder in the first degree, the New York Daily News reported.

But before the identity of the gunman became known, so-called “blue check” Twitter users rushed to declare the suspect a “white male”. The blue verified badge on Twitter is an authentic account of public interest, usually given only to mainstream journalists. This did not prevent them from tweeting anti-white racial denouncements even though all the victims of the shooter were white.

Uzair Hasan Rizvi, journalist at news agency AFP’s service for verification of facts (AFP Fact Check), simply ignored the facts: “He was arrested, not killed because he was not brown, black or Muslim.” And Rizvi was not the only one with a biased attitude.

“Extremely tired of people’s lives depending on whether a [W]hite man with an AR-15 is having a good day or not,” Deadspin senior writer Julia DiCaro tweeted. USA Today’s “race and inclusion” editor Hemal Jhaveri agreed with DiCaro in a now-deleted tweet. “It’s always an angry [W]hite man. Always,” Jhaveri stated.

Meera Harris, the niece of Vice President Kamala Harris, also publicly blamed white men: “The Atlanta shooting was not even a week ago. Violent [W]hite men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country,” Harris tweeted. Other high-profile users followed with similar statements. Left-wing pundits also dismissed the race of the victims.

The suspect’s social media accounts were being scrubbed, but the Daily Beastmanaged to obtain some of his Facebook posts, revealing him to be a vitriolic anti-Trumper, incessantly ranting about “Islamophobia” and white “racists”. This may be a plausible case of how left-wing media bias contributed to this heinous act with frequent unsubstantiated accusations of “white supremacy”, “racism” and “Islamophobia” fuelling a mass shooting.

“He would talk about him being Muslim and how if anybody tried anything, he would file a hate crime and say they were making it up,” one of his acquaintances told the Denver Post. In 2017, the immigrant, then 18, assaulted a classmate at Arvada West High School. Witnesses told police the Syrian immigrant had attacked the classmate for no reason. According to the assaillant, the classmate was a “racist”.

On his now-defunct Facebook page, the delusional gunman had posted in 2019 that he believed “racists” at his former high school were hacking his cell phone.

Ironically, Colorado already has some of the strictest gun control measures in place but it failed to stop the mass shooting, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene noted after the Biden administration called for more gun control laws in the wake of the tragedy. Also under Biden, the war in Syria could soon be restarted with the US setting up a new military base in north eastern Syria. This move will no doubt once again increase the flow of Syrian “refugees”.

This mass shooting happened only days after another similar event in Atlanta in which sex workers – some Asian – were gunned down. The media had focused intensely on the race of the Asian victims.
