Two migrants beat up Austrian man badly for “being given the hairy eyeball” and lack of respect for their Arab origin

After extensive investigations, two Syrians (15 and 18) were identified as the perpetrators who attacked two Innviertel residents (23 and 37) waiting for a taxi in the town of Braunau for no reason on the night of August 6th.
The two were beaten and a mobile phone and other valuables were taken from them. The perpetrators then fled in an unknown direction after the victims, who were lying on the ground, shouted for help. The two victims had to be treated in Braunau hospital.
With the help of clues from the public, a Syrian citizen (18) living in Germany was identified as the main perpetrator and his brother (15) as an accomplice. A European arrest warrant was issued by the public prosecutor’s office in Ried for the unstable 18-year-old.

In cooperation with the Simbach border police station, investigators from the Coordinated Criminal Investigation Service in Braunau were able to arrest the Syrian in Lower Bavaria on October 10.
The 18-year-old was handed over to Austrian authorities on November 7 and taken to Ried prison after questioning. The boy confessed fully. He cited ” giving so the hairy eyeball” and a lack of respect for his Arab origin as his motives.

In the course of the investigation, the officers were able to track down several young people who filmed the offence and shared it on social media. The videos were secured. All of the young people present at the time of the offence will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Ried for “failure to prevent an act punishable by law”.
