Street vendor stabbed in throat by Ivorian minor at French funfair

A 16-year-old Ivorian unaccompanied minor has been arrested in France on suspicion of stabbing a street vendor in the throat at a funfair in Limoges.

As reported by Le Figaro newspaper, an altercation broke out between the vendor and migrant youth shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday at an event on Cours Gay Lussac in the central French city.

After a verbal exchange, the Ivorian minor used a knife to stab his 25-year-old victim twice, including once in the carotid artery.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and the victim was rushed to the Limoges Hospital Center in critical condition. It is understood that his health has improved thanks to the speed of the emergency services.

The authorities’ investigation into the case to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and any motive remains ongoing.

The attack is the second of its nature in as many weeks in Limoges after a 16-year-old boy of Turkish nationality was stabbed twice in the city center on Christmas Day.

The incident occurred in the parking lot near Place Winston Churchill but the boy had managed to walk a few meters from the scene before collapsing in the road. He was later pronounced dead at the Limoges University Hospital

Five Pakistani minors were arrested in connection with the murder.
