An Isis-linked terrorist who “plotted to kidnap a British ambassador” has been found to have entered the UK illegally in the back of a lorry.

Zana Abdul Rahman Rahim, 43, arrived in Britain via Dover from France in June despite being handed a UK-wide ban.

Rahim was discovered after being stopped by West Yorkshire Police for a broken light on his car.

During a routine stop check on the vehicle, officers at the scene discovered Rahim’s true identity.

Despite his ban, Rahim had made several previous attempts to enter the country.

While living in Derby and working as a car washer, he was arrested as part of a larger police sting across Europe in 2015.

He was then deported to Italy and jailed for seven-and-a-half years for his role as a spokesman and strategist for an Isis-affiliated terror cell.

Rahim was also part of a larger terror network which plotted to attack and kidnap British and Norwegian ambassadors.

In May this year, Rahim travelled to France having completed his sentence in Italy, before successfully crossing to the UK.

Rahim is currently in custody following his arrest in Yorkshire and will be sentenced on October 30.

The case is not the first of its kind to be prosecuted in the UK.

Rebwar Hamad, 48, was also a convicted terrorist from Iraq who entered the UK illegally.

Hamad crossed the Channel by small boat in September 2025, having been convicted of terror offences in Italy.

Mohammed Yaseen, another Iraqi national, was previously convicted in Germany for being a member of Isis.

He then arrived in Britain by a small boat in the Channel in December 2025.

Earlier this month, Yaseen was living in a bail hostel in Windsor and was spotted at a Co-op store close to Windsor Castle, after being released from prison.

Hakan Barac, a 28-year-old Turkish national who arrived by small boat in 2023 was jailed last year for posting videos in support of Isis.

Barac was in the process of applying for asylum when he was arrested by police.

The Isis supporter was jailed for 45 months after sharing material glorifying “violent terrorism”.

In a statement, a Home Office spokesman told GB News: “It is standard Government policy that any foreign national who receives a prison sentence in the UK is referred for deportation at the earliest opportunity and will be barred from ever returning to the country.”
