According to the Paris Prefecture of Police, the escalated demonstration was a commemoration of the victims of the fire on Rue de Charonne on April 7, 2024. In this case, as Le Parisien recently reported, the tenant of the flat affected by the fire is suspected of having shot two of his guests, including one of his Afghan compatriots, before setting fire to the scene to remove the traces of his crime. Three people died in the tragedy, for which a criminal connection is favoured.
