On Thursday July 8, Mourad D. was found guilty of assault and racial insult. In a video posted on social media on May 30, the man could clearly be heard racially insulting a woman who was recording him after a violent attack: “You nigger, you dirty black bitch”, or “we Algerians have sold you like cattle for 800 years”. A few minutes earlier, he had not hesitated to hit an Uber Eats delivery man. The events had taken place outside the restaurant “Le Brasco” in Cergy, in the Val-d’Oise.
After the airing of these pictures, the owner of the establishment was in serious trouble. Zoubir told his tale of woe in the studio of L’Heure des pros, on CNews this Friday July 9. “It’s the end of the world, I get messages and racist insults.” He was even threatened with death: “Die, you and your family full of scum,” “You deserve to be burned,” “You will be raped, your restaurant, your family, your bastards,” he was told on the phone. The rating of his restaurant given by internet users quickly dropped to 1″ instead of the initial 4.2″. “It’s a horror movie, except that a horror movie lasts 1 hour 30 minutes without giving me a break,” Zoubir complained. He filed a complaint for threatening his life at the local police station.
Around 11am, about 10 people then gathered in front of his restaurant. “Not to eat, I feel it immediately,” Zoubir described on CNews. They actually came to fight, assuming that Mourad D. worked at Brasco. When Zoubir explained that this man did not work in his restaurant, “no one believed him anymore”. Very quickly, a hundred people gathered in front of the establishment without a “possible conversation” taking place. Two municipal police officers were deployed and tried to ” keep the people and the restaurant owner at a distance”. Zoubir’s employees, “a Senegalese and a Gabonese”, were also insulted by the angry crowd: “white negroes”, “Arab negroes”, “bounty”… On Thursday July 8, Mourad D. was in court. He was sentenced to two years in prison and banned from staying in Val-d’Oise.
