She is led into the courtroom in handcuffs like a felon.
Supermarket bully Rihan B. (19) was put on trial on Wednesday at Wittmund District Court (Lower Saxony). Charges: assault, abuse, insult, coercion, interference with road traffic, threats. The public prosecutor counted 20 offences in just one year.
In October, the brazen behaviour of the Lebanese woman caused a nationwide stir. In a supermarket in Wittmund, Rihan shouted that she had no job as a refugee – but earned 200 euros a day. She shouted: “And you Germans pay taxes and keep working, yalla, yalla!” The rioter then posted the video online. Rihan B. later admitted to the newspaper BILD that she did not earn 200 euros and only wanted to provoke.
She now admits in court that she hit and slapped a female shop assistant. “I had opened a drink in the shop and drank it!” she reports. A female shop assistant told her that this was forbidden. This triggered the attack. The shop assistant (21) suffered a bruised nose and several bruises.
The young woman’s career can be summarised as a criminal record. In 2015, when she was just 9 years old, she fled Lebanon with her mother and siblings. She explains to BILD: “I have no school-leaving certificate, no education. Everything didn’t go well. A lot of stress, a lot of trouble!”
Three charges from the biological mother alone. Rihan is said to have attacked her several times, in one case banging her head on the floor several times. Consequence: banned from approaching her mother, stepfather and siblings.
According to BILD, Rihan already has 160 charges listed at this time. She gave birth to her daughter in the women’s prison in Vechta in 2021. She is now three years old and lives with a foster family.
Eight witnesses are summoned. A security officer (34): “There was a suspicion that the accused had smashed a window – and was able to use a shard as a weapon against us. It took around 10 colleagues to bring her to a separate cell.”
Rihan B. Is currently being held in Moringen prison. A judgement will probably be handed down in mid-April.
