Italy: Somali attacks five people with a knife – among them a child

In the Italian city of Rimini, police have arrested a Somali man who injured five people, including a child, with a knife during a bus ride. This was reported by the news agency “Ansa” on Sunday.
The incident occurred late on Saturday afternoon. The man was allegedly outraged by the ticket check and attacked two women with a knife. He then got off the bus, fled and injured three other people during his escape. The police were able to apprehend him shortly afterwards.

The injured women were taken to hospital, their lives are no longer at risk. The police are investigating the case.
Terrorist connections are currently ruled out, the suspect does not belong to terrorist or extremist organisations. It is suspected that he was under the influence of drugs, the police said.According to information, the suspect had been living in Europe for several years and had applied for asylum. He had been accommodated in a Red Cross facility, where he had been repeatedly reported to be violent and aggressive.
