A few days before Christmas she had recited an Ave Maria with her little pupils, all together creating a small rosary of beads, but for this initiative she was removed from school for 20 days. The teacher’s initiative was not really welcome: in addition to the suspension, her salary will be reduced. Marisa Francescangeli, a primary school teacher in San Vero Milis, is speechless. «I’m living a nightmare – she confessed. I would have expected everything but not a similar measure. I miss my kids, I miss my job. I haven’t done anything wrong.”

Marisa Francescangeli, born in 1965, will only be able to return from 16 April. She before her will not be able to cross the threshold of the school in via Umberto, her second home.

«On December 22nd I was in class to replace a colleague of mine. Since Christmas was just around the corner, I decided to make a bracelet with the children that represented the rosary. Then we recited the Our Father and the Ave Maria together. In short, for me normality, it didn’t seem to me that I had done anything serious ». But two mothers complained about the incident to the principal, Alessandro Cortese: «At that point – continues the teacher – I was summoned to participate in a meeting with these parents and the principal. I even apologized for the gesture, remembering however that at the beginning of the year I had asked all the parents for permission to be able to recite some prayers with the children. No one was against it.”
