Brutal attack at the psychiatric clinic in Paderborn: On Saturday afternoon, a 13-year-old patient allegedly injured a 24-year-old nurse with a sharp object, leaving her in critical condition. The girl is said to be a highly dangerous Islamist!
According to the police, the bloody incident occurred at around 11:50 a.m. while cooking in the clinic kitchen. After receiving first aid, the nurse was taken to a hospital. The police have set up a homicide investigation. Due to the age of the suspect, measures such as pre-trial detention are legally impossible – at 13 years of age, the girl is below the age of criminal responsibility.
The German teenager was in the facility due to a court placement order. She is currently in police custody. What is particularly explosive is that, according to the authorities, the 13-year-old was classified as a danger to others – which is why she was monitored around the clock by a security service.
In June, the German newspaper BILD reported that the girl was being monitored 24/7 by the police in accommodation provided by the youth welfare office. At the time, the state security service suspected that the minor was planning an Islamist-motivated attack. According to security circles, there were ‘concrete’ indications of her beliefs. Her plan was to injure and possibly even kill police officers.
During an escape attempt at the end of June, she allegedly tried to attack an officer with a glass pane. Thanks to an ankle bracelet, she was quickly tracked down and apprehended. After the incident, she was placed in the LWL Clinic in Paderborn (North Rhine-Westphalia). It is unclear why she was allowed into the kitchen at all on Saturday and apparently given access to sharp objects.
‘Surveillance in the clinic’s rooms was carried out by a security service under the responsibility of the clinic operator,’ the police explained on Saturday. ‘Outside the premises, forces were on standby to intervene in the event of an escape attempt.’
According to information obtained by the BILD newspaper, the 13-year-old had previously been radicalised on the internet. She had had a difficult childhood and her mother had died. Whether the attack on the carer was politically motivated is still the subject of ongoing investigations, it was reported. The authorities assured the public that there was no danger to the general public.
