This was quite a shock for a 14-year-old girl in Chemnitz! On Monday evening, a 49-year-old man attempted to handcuff the teenager on a bus. Fortunately, the 14-year-old was able to fight him off. The police subsequently arrested the man.
That evening, the teenager boarded a public bus heading for Zeisigwald at the central bus stop. A Libyan man (49) watched the teenager and then approached her.

“According to the 14-year-old, he initially offered her some food, which she declined, and then, because of the man’s behaviour, she phoned her parents,” said a police spokesperson.

The sheer horror unfolded as the bus travelled along August-Bebel-Straße. The man suddenly pulled handcuffs out of his rucksack and tried several times to fasten them around the 14-year-old’s wrist.

However, the girl fought back – and the man let go of her. The 49-year-old got off the bus at the stop by the “eins-Stadion” on Gellertstraße.

However, the police were already on their way – officers were able to apprehend the man near the bus stop. The handcuffs in question were seized.

The 49-year-old is now under investigation for attempted unlawful detention.
