Germany: Iranian asylum seeker rapes local 18-year-old girl

She was dragged into a bush and raped there. Four months after raping a young woman (18) in Wolgast, Mohsen V. (34) was sentenced to five years in prison.

The regional court in Stralsund found the Iranian asylum seeker guilty of rape on Thursday. “The woman is still suffering from the psychological consequences today,” said judge Kai Klingmüller.

During the trial, the 18-year-old victim had tearfully testified how she was approached by the perpetrator in the darkness on a pavement not far from a snack bar, dragged into a bush and raped.

The man had first approached her and pointed to his mobile phone. “I thought he wanted to find his way around the place,” the woman said. Instead, she was asked if she wanted sex. However, she had vigorously denied that. But the 34-year-old suddenly dragged her into a bush and raped her. Then he fled, according to the police.

The investigators had tracked down the suspect thanks to a precise description of the perpetrator by the victim, the analysis of traces and video recordings of a nearby petrol station.

The Iranian initially remained silent, but shortly before the end of the trial he admitted the crime via his lawyer and expressed his regret.

His traces were proven in a DNA expert opinion. “The evidence was overwhelming,” Klingmüller said. In several swabs, the man’s DNA had been found on the woman.

The young woman is still on sick leave and undergoing trauma therapy. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
