France: Three people injured, one of them critically, in a stabbing at the mosque in Goussainville attended by the Turkish community because a visitor frowned at someone

Three men were stabbed, one of them was seriously injured. A large contingent of police was deployed to break up the altercation.

It was shortly before 10 pm on Friday evening when the police had to intervene because of a brawl between around 30 people outside one of the mosques in the community, which is attended by the Turkish community.

Three participants in the brawl suffered injuries after being stabbed. Two men aged 21 were taken to Gonesse hospital with minor injuries. A 23-year-old man was hit more severely in the back and a lung perforation was suspected. He was treated by the emergency services and transported to La Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital as a matter of urgency, but with no life-threatening prognosis.

The victims reported that there had been an argument on the mosque grounds between two groups from the Turkish community who had taken to the street to settle their differences. An argument, possibly due to someone having frown at somebody escalated and led to a brawl involving around 30 people, one of whom used a knife. The victims did not want to press charges or give any information about the identity of the attacker, who fled.

The police were on the scene with a large contingent and secured the hospital in Gonesse to prevent further clashes while the victims were being treated. Le Parisien
