BREAKING: Terror alert in front of synagogue in Germany: Syrian allegedly planned explosive attack

After the terror alarm in front of a synagogue in Hagen, Germany, on Wednesday evening, four arrests were made today. Among those arrested is a Syrian (16) who, according to a report in the news magazine “Der Spiegel”, is said to have prepared an bomb attack on the synagogue. According to the news magazine, the police searched the flat of the youth and his father in the morning.

On September 15 and 16, Jews celebrate their highest holiday: Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This holiday is once again overshadowed by terror in Hagen: on Wednesday evening, following reports of a “possible dangerous situation”, the police conducted a large-scale operation in the German city, which had already become conspicuous by anti-Semitic activities in May.

Now there have been arrests: The Hagen police stated on Twitter on Thursday morning: “The criminal investigation led to the identification and arrest of a 16-year-old Hagen man. In the course of the investigation, a total of four arrests have been made to date.” At the same time, initial searches are being carried out in properties in Hagen. “If necessary, further search measures will follow. The current investigations are intended to substantiate or dispel any suspicion of a crime,” said the police.

According to Der Spiegel, the security authorities had received a tip from a foreign intelligence service. The partner service had warned of a suspected Islamist in Germany who had behaved suspiciously on the internet. The investigations had led to the 16-year-old, who lived in Hagen in a flat with his father. The Düsseldorf General Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the youth on suspicion of preparing a serious crime endangering the state.
