Belgium: Man stabbed over possible motive of “non-exchange of girls” for arranged marriages between Syrians

It was around 10.30 pm on Tuesday evening when the police in Brussels North had to intervene because of a bloody murder attack in the Chaussée de Haecht in Schaerbeek.

A 30-year-old man of Syrian origin had suffered several knife wounds. Eyewitnesses reported that there were three suspects of Syrian origin who were still on the run at the time of writing this article.

What was the reason for the outbreak of violence? Eyewitnesses reported: “It was the result of a failure to exchange daughters between two Syrian families in arranged marriages”.

(…) [Editor’s note: Spokesperson for the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office] “(…) A cordon has been set up so that the investigative work can be carried out. The exact reasons and circumstances of the crime have yet to be determined”.Sud Info
