Persecution of Hindu minorities continues in Bangladesh. This time and arson in Hindu homes in Kaliganj of Lalmonirhat district over children’s fight.
On the night of the 13th of May, Saturday, Muslim neighbours attacked homes belonging to the Hindu minority community at Ghaneshyam Bairati under the Tushbhanadar Union. Several houses were broken and set on fire.
According to locals, on that day, during the afternoon, children of both communities were playing. Suddenly a fight broke out between them. They stopped playing and went to their homes.
Later Muslim neighbours attacked the homes of Hindu minorities. Local Hindus said that a group of 60 people led by Asedul Islam, Fazle Master and Saiful Miyan broke and damaged several houses in that locality. Also, they set on fire several homes, haystacks and other belongings. Also, some women and children got wounded in the attack.
Local Hindus said they were threatened not to file any police complaint; otherwise, they must face dire consequences. Now they are living in fear.
