In the Brigittenau district of Vienna, police pursued a Libyan for having a fake ID. Instead of surrendering or cooperating, the stranger became violent and injured two officers – who could not continue their duties and had to be taken to hospital.

Police officers of the 20th district were called because a 23-year-old Libyan national had shown a forged identity card at an office.
The suspected forged document was seized by the officers.

The Libyan (23) was extremely uncooperative and tried to flee. The officers pursued the suspect. In the course of the escape, the suspect suddenly changed his tactics and began to attack the police officers. Shortly afterwards, the raging Libyan could be arrested under fierce resistance. The two officers were injured during the arrest and could not continue their duties. Both had to be treated in hospital after the incident. “The officers suffered bruises,” the press office told eXXpress. According to the press office, “the man is a foreigner under aliens law”. He did not confess during his interrogation and was taken to a prison by order of the Vienna public prosecutor’s office.
