Vienna: Indian man stabs two men; one is in a life-threatening condition

A violent incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at Viktor-Adler-Platz in Vienna’s Favoriten district! At least four people got into an argument for reasons that remain unclear; two people were left with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Vienna police, during the altercation, a 25-year-old Indian national is said to have suddenly pulled out a knife at around 3.45 pm and attacked two men. A 28-year-old man was stabbed in the back, whilst a 31-year-old suffered a stab wound to the abdomen.

After the incident, the suspected attacker and an accomplice fled the scene. The 28-year-old victim also initially left the scene, whilst the 31-year-old suffered serious injuries.
Witnesses immediately alerted the police. Officers from the Keplergasse police station provided first aid until the Vienna Ambulance Service arrived.

The 31-year-old was then given emergency medical treatment and taken to a hospital’s emergency room – his condition is critical. The second injured person is also in hospital and is likewise in a critical condition.
Thanks to witness statements, the identity of the suspected perpetrator was quickly established. An intensive search is currently underway for the 25-year-old. The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Office, Southern Branch, has taken charge of the investigation.
