What’s Worse for Female Athletes: A Sexist Joke or Being Replaced by Men?

I’m reliably told that there’s some sort of thing underway in Paris where people come from around the world to be chased by other people from around the world. Usually, they call it riots or migrant crime, but now it’s the ‘Olympics’.

The Olympics place a great deal of stress on diversity. That means an opening event featuring a drag queen and contempt for Christianity, and Islamic terrorism and hate across the actual games.

But while drag queens are heavily represented in place of women, there is one outrage directed at women that no one involved with the games will abide.

Eurosport has dropped an Olympic swimming commentator from its Paris coverage for an “inappropriate” comment about women.

British journalist Bob Ballard said on air after Australia won the 4×100-meter freestyle relay on Saturday: “Well, the women just finishing up. You know what women are like … hanging around, doing their makeup.”

Co-commentator Lizzie Simmonds, who swam at the 2012 London Olympics for Britain, reacted on air by describing the comment as “outrageous.”

“During a segment of Eurosport’s coverage, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment,” Eurosport said in a statement Sunday, “To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect.”

Truly horrifying dad joke. Hopefully, everyone survived the trauma of hearing it live on the air.

Meanwhile, actual female athletes continue to be displaced by men posing as women. But that is progressive and ‘boundary-breaking’. We’re living in the world of ‘What is a Woman’ and a world in which faux outrage over a dumb joke is treated as more seriously than the entire erasure of women.
