Matteo Salvini, leader of the Italian governing League party, announced at a meeting of right-wing parties in Florence, that Brussels will be liberated from the socialists and George Soros in the upcoming European Parliament elections in 2024.
“We have a completely different vision from the Europe of Ursula von der Leyen, Christine Lagarde, George Soros and the bankers,” said Salvini.
He said that, just as David once defeated the seemingly invincible Goliath, men and women armed with common sense, courage and faith will defeat “the giant who is Europe’s enemy number one” throughout Europe.
The coalition of right-wing parties, Free Europe, launched its campaign for next year’s European Parliament elections on Sunday. Salvini said that for the first time in the history of the European institutions, the 2024 European Parliament elections will provide an opportunity for the “united and determined” right to free Brussels from the political majority that has until now unlawfully “occupied” it.
He said that from next year, the EU institutions should represent a different Europe “without socialist leadership and with a right-wing Europe like the one that leads the government in Rome.”
Another Europe
“We imagine a different Europe, where the central issue is not the debate on the budget deficits and public debt of the member states, a place where GDP or inflation are not the eternal topics, but the creation of jobs, the well-being of the citizens, the right to health and security, in other words, the rights of nations, instead of a Europe of austerity and George Soros,” said the League leader. “We believe in a Europe of work, instead of a Europe of electric vehicles and taxes on homes.”
The Sunday event saw a broad range of nationalist and patriotic parties converge in Florence, including Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD), National Rally, and Geert Wilders’ PPV, which just scored a resounding victory in the Netherlands. In total, the leaders of 12 European parties made an appearance.
The leaders of other European parties also spoke at the Free Europe event, including Romanian George Simion, leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party, who described Europe as “hell” and led by “crazy and sick people like Timmermans and von der Leyen.”
