Le Pen Vows Referendum to ‘Combat Islamist Ideologies’, Including Fines for Veiling of Women and Girls

Vox populi, vox Dei appears to be the operating strategy for Marine Le Pen and her National Rally party, which has committed to multiple popular referendums should she be elected as the next President of France, including on a potential law to “combat Islamist ideologies” within the country.

The frontrunning presidential candidate confirmed on Monday that, to enforce the ban on Islamic veils in public, she would seek to hold a referendum to impose fines on those who flout the 2010 law, which is currently rarely enforced.

Le Pen said this would come amid a broader ballot measure in which her government would seek public consent to enact a series of laws to “combat Islamist ideologies”.

“How could France defend its values with politicians who lack so much courage that they allow an ideology to claim the inferiority of women?” she questioned.

“Fighting against Islamist ideology and defending equality require courage and determination. Like the French people, I believe I have that courage and that determination,” the National Rally leader proclaimed.

In addition to the planned referendum on pushing back against Islamism, the populist party has also vowed to give the French public an opportunity to vote directly on national immigration policy.

Such a ballot measure would include whether the state should abolish birthright citizenship, limit welfare to French citizens, and order the “systematic expulsion of foreign offenders and criminals”.

Le Pen’s commitment to enforcing the ban on Islamic veils comes in contrast to her leading opponent in the upcoming presidential election, former Macronist Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, who said on Monday: “The important thing at this stage is to respect the law as it exists today; I don’t think it’s necessary to go further.”

The National Rally leader responded, claiming that Philippe’s comments were a tacit admission that he “failed to properly enforce the law banning the full-face veil when he was Prime Minister.”

“Worse, he also confirms that he will do nothing against an Islamist veil that he himself denounced in 2025 as an act of submission for women and even… for little girls,” Le Pen added.

While some have attempted to downplay the importance of the issue or to cast it as a religious liberty matter, the veiling of young women in the West is seen as a critical vector of subversion by groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

A major French intelligence report last year said that the Islamist organisation actively places trained operatives within Islamic community institutions, including teachers, sports organisers, local shop managers, employment assistants, and even dating coaches, with the express aim of enforcing hardline Qur’anic practices such as the observance of fasting, the wearing of beards, and the veiling of women and girls.

The aim of “supervising the life of the Muslim” was part of a broader effort to undermine Western institutions and promote an Islamic “conquest strategy” in Europe, French intelligence found.

German priest says populist party isn’t ‘Christian’ for opposing migration

Father Karl Jüsten, the head of the Katholisches Büro in Berlin, the German Bishops’ Conference’s official liaison office to the German government, attacked the conservative populist AfD party for calling itself “Christian” while advocating for remigration.

During his August 31 address, which also marked the first public Church appearance of Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen, whom Pope Leo XIV appointed as apostolic nuncio to Germany earlier this year, Fr. Jüsten called the AfD’s political platform “incompatible” with both the Catholic Church and the German Constitution for its opposition to mass migration, per German media.

The priest, after praising Germany’s constitution for not favoring one religion, which contradicts Catholic teaching on government, emphasized the AfD’s alleged advocacy for “marginalizing” a “religious community” for its “cultural foreignness,” likely a reference to Muslim migrants. He made his comments in a keynote address during the annual reception for the Catholic Office of Saxony

“Where a community violates the law, the rule of law intervenes. But it does not condemn an entire religion across the board in advance,” Fr. Jüsten said.

Turning to the AfD specifically, the priest slammed the party, which strongly opposes abortion and promotes Catholic social teaching, for its apparent “hostility” toward the Church over immigration.

“Whoever weakens the churches weakens a vital part of our lived community. And in the end, it’s not the church leadership that is affected,” he said. “It’s the people who depend on these services. Churches stand for integration and the common good.”

“The AfD invokes Christianity as a culture but opposes the churches: (The AfD) want the Christian label. But not the Caritas that takes in strangers. Not the church that stands up for the dignity of every single person,” Jüsten claimed. “Anyone who limits the church to worship alone and disputes its active charity has failed to understand the essence of the church.”

While the faithful are called to stand up for the dignity and show charity to our neighbors, including migrants, the Katholisches Büro head notably failed to mention the Church’s teaching on immigration.

In addition to affirming that immigrants should be treated with respect, Catholic social teaching also notes that a country has a right to secure its borders. In the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB’s) “Catholic Social Teaching on Immigration and the Movement of Peoples,” the conference outlines that countries are under no obligation to accept all who wish to enter.

Per the ordo amoris laid out by Doctors of the Church such as St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, there is also “a hierarchy of charity,” in which one must take care of one’s own family and nation before caring for foreigners.

Within the last year alone, Germany and several European countries have seen multiple terror attacks or attempted attacks carried out by Muslim migrants.

In December 2025, five Muslim men were arrested for allegedly planning a terror attack on a Bavarian Christmas market. Ironically, in July, a suspected Islamist terrorist killed one person and injured about 30 others in an attack on an LGBT “pride” event in Berlin.

In late July, thousands of migrants swarmed across the Moroccan border and overran beaches in the small Spanish territory of Ceuta. According to reports, this swarm of migrants included Islamist terrorists.

It’s possible that, in addition to the party’s immigration stance, Jüsten’s opposition to the AfD also stems from Catholic members of the party opposing the heretical German “Synodal Way.”

During an exclusive interview with LifeSite’s Andreas Wailzer back in May, Catholic AfD politician Nicole Höchst denounced the “Synodal Way” as an effort to create a “separate sect” from the Church.

“I believe this [Synodal] Way is [an] effort to found a separate sect with elements that are decidedly not Roman Catholic, such as the ceremonial blessing of same-sex ‘unions’ or ‘ordination of women,’” she said at the time.

“And that leads to a schism, in my opinion, if it isn’t already in open schism,” she added.

France: Chechen convicted over Samuel Paty murder returns to jail after amusement park trip

A Chechen man convicted of supplying the knife used to murder the French history teacher Samuel Paty has been sentenced to a further year in prison after he was found at Parc Astérix in breach of his house arrest.

Azim Epsirkhanov, 25, appeared before the criminal court in Senlis, north of Paris, on August 31 under the fast-track procedure.

The court also imposed a permanent ban on his entering French territory, according to Le Parisien.

Judges found that he had left Hauts-de-Seine, the département (administrative district) west of Paris where he was required to remain, and gone to the amusement park at Plailly, in the Oise, north of the capital.

Police stopped him in the car park at about 3.30pm on August 28.

He had been placed under house arrest at his partner’s home by prefectural order while the French State sought to deport him. He was also required to report to a police station twice a day.

He was released in April 2026 after an appeal court in March reduced a 16-year sentence for complicity in a terrorist murder to seven years for criminal association.

He is challenging an obligation to leave French territory, and has lodged a request to that end with the administrative court.

Epsirkhanov told the court there had been “a misunderstanding, a misreading on my part” of the prefectural decision. He said he had kept to the twice-daily reporting requirement and had not grasped that the order also barred him from leaving Hauts-de-Seine.

“I never sought to evade this measure,” he said, adding that he wanted to resume family and working life.

He told the court he feared what awaited him if he were sent back. Chechens were the first to be despatched to the front in Ukraine, he said, and a return would be a one-way trip to death.

The deputy prosecutor said he had left Hauts-de-Seine eight times, “even at night”, and asked what a man of his record was doing at Parc Astérix.

His lawyer, Figen Aydin, said she had hoped the case would be handled like any other breach of a residence order.

On October 16, 2020, Abdoullakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old Russian of Chechen origin, beheaded Paty near his school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in the Yvelines west of Paris. Paty was 47 and taught history and geography.

Days earlier Paty had given a civic education lesson on freedom of expression, using Charlie Hebdo cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, as he had in previous years.

He warned pupils that some images might shock them and said anyone who wished could look away or leave the room for a few minutes. He did not single out Muslim pupils or order them out.

Five or six pupils stepped outside briefly. Staff later said there was no confrontation.

A 13-year-old girl in one of his classes was not present for the lesson. She had been suspended for two days for truancy and poor behaviour, unrelated to Paty.

To explain the punishment to her father she claimed the teacher had told Muslim pupils to identify themselves and leave, shown a “naked” image of the Prophet, and excluded her for objecting.

Classmates and the investigation established that none of this was true. She later admitted the fabrication.

Her father, Brahim Chnina, had posted videos of the lie online, condemning Paty and his school. This was picked up by radical activists who amplified the false claims, among them the preacher Abdelhakim Sefrioui.

Anzorov, who was living in Évreux, in Normandy, northwest France, then tracked Paty down and killed him.

Anzorov was shot dead by police. Epsirkhanov, a childhood friend from Évreux, was convicted of helping him obtain the knife. He has always denied knowing Anzorov’s intention to kill Paty.

At the first trial he said he had taken €800 from Anzorov to find him a working firearm but had not managed to do so.

On December 20, 2024, a special assize court in Paris sentenced him to 16 years for complicity in terrorist murder. Seven other defendants were convicted alongside him over the campaign of hatred that preceded the killing, with Chnina given 13 years and Sefrioui 15.

An appeal opened in Paris on January 26, 2026 for four of the men. The March 2026 appeal requalified the offence and cut the term, after which he was released and made subject to the residence order pending expulsion.

The August 31 sentence is separate from that terrorism case and relates only to the breach of the administrative restriction.

Former British Premier Keir Starmer Resigns From Parliament, Leaving PM Andy Burnham With a By-Election Problem to Deal With

Starmer (left) has left a problem for PM Burnham to solve

Ousted as leader by his Labour peers, Starmer walks away from the House of Commons.

Sir Keir Starmer was the Labour party leader since 2020, spending the last two years (2024 to 2026) as British Prime Minister.

It was not a successful tenure, by any metric we choose to apply – Starmer went from scandal to crisis and back, until his party decided they’d had enough, and decided a new leadership was needed.

So, today, the failed former leader announced that he is standing down as an MP – on the same day, new Prime Minister Andy Burnham returns to Parliament.

The Telegraph reported:

“The former prime minister, who was ousted by Labour MPs in July to make way for Andy Burnham, said it was ‘the right time’ for him to leave the [House of] Commons.

Sir Keir’s announcement, made on the same day as Mr. Burnham’s return to the Commons, sets up a difficult by-election in his constituency of Holborn and St Pancras, where the Green Party will hope to win the seat.”

“Thanking his constituency staff and Labour members, Sir Keir concluded: ‘Whoever is lucky enough to become the Labour candidate here will have my full support and backing and I will continue to give my full support to the Prime Minister and this Labour Government’.

[…] According to the Electoral Calculus website, which analyses and predicts British elections, Labour only has a 59 per cent chance of keeping the Holborn and St Pancras constituency.”

BBC reported:

“Sir Keir’s announcement comes hours before Burnham is due to deliver his first statement in the Commons as prime minister, setting out his priorities and taking questions from MPs.

Conservative chairman Kevin Hollinrake accused Sir Keir of making ‘another U-turn having pledged to stay on’, prompting a ‘costly by-election for taxpayers’.

A date will not be set for the by-election until Sir Keir formally resigns his Commons seat.

Holborn and St Pancras has long been a Labour stronghold, with Sir Keir securing a more than 11,000-vote majority at the last general election in 2024.”

Spain: Judge frees Moroccan illegal migrant caught by police officers raping a young woman on Valencia beach

A 27-year-old Moroccan construction worker in an irregular immigration situation in Spain was released from custody on Monday after being caught in the act of raping a 22-year-old woman on Valencia’s Malvarrosa beach. The duty judge cited the victim’s failure to appear in court to formalize a complaint as the reason for granting him provisional liberty — a Spanish procedural requirement that is relatively unusual compared with many other Western countries.

The incident took place around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, near the Akuarela night club. According to Spanish media reports drawing on police sources, the young woman had been in the sea and was lying on the sand when the man approached her. He initially made complimentary remarks before suddenly lunging at her, violently tearing off her dress and forcing penetrative sex while covering her mouth with his hand to stifle her screams. She resisted and cried for help.

A passerby walking along the shoreline spotted the assault from a distance and alerted authorities. Four officers from the Valencia Local Police’s Security, Support and Prevention Unit (USAP), two of them in plain clothes, were already patrolling nearby, according to Spanish news outlet OKDiaro.

They heard the screams and arrived quickly. The suspect tried to flee across the sand. Officers caught him after a short chase. He resisted arrest and punched one officer several times in the face, causing injuries that required medical attention. The officers handcuffed him and handed him over to the National Police. The victim’s mobile phone, found nearby, was also recovered.

Several reports noted the victim was in a state of intoxication, with one account describing her as having left a nearby nightclub for fresh air. Police later found her showing clear signs of alcohol consumption. She was taken to Hospital La Fe, where she received gynecological care and gave an initial statement to officers from the gender-violence victim assistance unit.

The man, identified as a 27-year-old Moroccan construction worker living in Spain without legal papers, was charged with sexual assault involving penetration and assault on an agent of authority. Authorities have confirmed his irregular status.

On Monday, the duty magistrate of the Violence Against Women section of Valencia’s Court of First Instance ordered his provisional release. The decision, taken in agreement with the public prosecutor, followed the police’s inability to locate the victim so she could appear and ratify a formal complaint.

Spain has some rather unusual rules in regards to this criminal charge. Under Article 191 of the Spanish Penal Code, a complaint from an adult victim is required to pursue sexual offense of this type. Other European nations, like France and Germany, do not require a victim to file a criminal complaint to move forward with criminal proceedings.

Remarkably, even in a case where the woman gave a police statement about the rape and the fact that officers caught the man in the middle of penetrative rape, authorities still released the suspect.

The court opened preliminary proceedings and instructed police to continue searching for the woman. Officials said her situation could change immediately if she is found and decides to proceed. The assault on the police officer is being handled separately and can still be pursued criminally.

Meanwhile, the case has drawn attention on social media due to the man being released within hours and the unique procedural requirements involved in the case.

UK: Council spends over £2m in taxpayer cash to translate materials for people who cannot speak English

Cardiff Council has a webpage and an animated video called ‘Tips on applying for a school in Arabic’
 |
CARDIFF COUNCIL

A council has spent over £2million in taxpayer money to translate materials for people who do not speak English.

Figures uncovered by a Conservative councillor have revealed that Cardiff Council has used taxpayer money to pay a £2,047,975 bill to translate materials for people who cannot speak English.

The sums, disclosed in response to written questions tabled by Cllr Calum Davies, show that Cardiff Council over the last five years spent £1,145,525 of public money on pre-booked interpretation services.

An additional £506,034 was used for instant interpretation services.

Meanwhile, a further £396,416 went on translating documents between English and foreign languages.

Translating materials to Arabic incurred the highest cost at £314,446, far ahead of next placed Czech and Bengali on £125,631 and £96,289, respectively.

£72,932 was spent on translating documents to and from Arabic alone, while Czech and Bengali hoovered up a little over £41,000 each.

Materials translated on an annual basis are part of a budget consultation and an Ask Cardiff survey that evaluates citizens’ views on the council.

The council also has a webpage and animated video that is called “Tips on applying for a school in Arabic.”

Cllr Calum Davies said: “Cardiff and Britain are running out of money under Labour, so why are we frittering away millions on translation and interpretation, indulging a broken immigration system and failing integration policy when we have no obligation to do so?

“People expect public money to go on the frontline services that serve them before anyone else, so Cardiff residents will be at a loss to know why we are being told immigration is to our economic advantage when Council Tax is going up for wasteful spending like this.”

The average household in Cardiff is paying over £1,700 a year in Council Tax, meaning the total bill of all of the costs is equivalent to over 1,172 households’ full contribution of tax.

Council Tax within Cardiff has also exceeded the rate of inflation since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

William Yarwood, Campaign director at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, added: “Councils can’t afford to waste millions on translation costs.

“Ratepayers are facing record bills, yet councils continue to subsidise foreign families that don’t bother to learn the language.

“Local authorities must stop this soft-touch approach and expect residents to speak English.”

It comes as Cllr Calum Davies highlighted statistics showing that one-in-five social housing tenants in Cardiff were born abroad – most of whom are unemployed.

A Cardiff Council spokesman told GB News: “Cardiff is a proudly diverse, multicultural and multilingual city.

“Providing information in languages other than English and Welsh helps ensure residents can access essential council services, understand important information and participate in consultations on matters that affect them.

“The figures referenced represent cumulative expenditure over approximately four years, rather than a single year’s spending.

“Cardiff Council has the highest demand for language support of any local authority in Wales and during that period, language support services were provided to thousands of residents.

“During 2025/26 alone, 13,000 instances of support were provided across face-to-face, video and telephone interpreting, as well as written translation, covering more than 60 languages, including British Sign Language (BSL).”

Germany: Syrian Man Not Required To Find a Job To Avoid “Provoking” Him

Medforth AI

A homeless immigrant man will continue to receive benefits and not be asked to find a job by the Ennepe-Ruhr district job center in Germany, as the office says the man is dangerous and should not be “provoked.”

The man in question is Amer G., a Syrian asylum seeker who reportedly arrived in Germany in 2015 and has become known in Witten for publicly reciting verses from the Quran using a loudspeaker.

For years, residents have complained about Amer’s loud recitations. According to reports, he walks through Witten’s city center on a daily basis, while reciting Quran verses, sometimes in the early morning hours. Police and the public order office have been dealing with the man for a long time.

According to the job center documents, Amer continues to receive €563 per month in citizen’s allowance as a single person. His current benefit approval period is scheduled to run until July 2027. He currently lives in a homeless shelter and therefore does not receive additional housing allowance. Yet despite receiving benefits, the man has reportedly not been invited to job search interviews for years. Support programs and concrete employment offers have also largely ceased.

The special treatment began with a memo dated August 7, 2023. Job center staff reportedly concluded that placement in employment appeared impossible because of Amer’s “background.” The decisive justification was that “potentially dangerous situations should not be provoked.”

The Syrian man was subsequently classified as “exempt from activation.” The reported arrangement means that Amer has largely been spared the standard measures applied to other benefit recipients, including regular appointments, training programs, and the requirement to actively seek employment.

Documents seen by German media outlets indicate that the concerns about “potentially dangerous situations” had already been raised before the August 2023 decision. According to the report, Amer’s probation officer contacted the job center three months earlier and reportedly asked that the man not be “provoked.”

The North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Labor has criticized the principle behind such an arrangement. The ministry stated that removing a person from active job placement solely because of a potential risk to public safety is “illegal and not provided for by law.”

For Amer, however, the arrangement has meant years of largely discontinued job placement efforts at the expense of the German taxpayer.

PM Sanchez Defends Moroccan Invasion, Blames Israeli ‘Misinformation’

The “sacred struggle to liberate the occupied cities along the Atlantic Ocean”

When politicians spend a lot of time talking about ‘misinformation’, you know that a big lie is on the verge of falling apart.

I wrote earlier this week that PM Pedro Sanchez’s lie that the invasion of 80,000 from Morocco into Ceuta is under control and the invaders will go back is coming apart. Instead, the Spanish government is asserting emergency control, trying to seize spaces to house the migrants and preparing doses of tens of thousands of vaccines that have to be administered across a year.

In response, Prime Minister Sanchez is continuing his media tour, denying the obvious, that Morocco was behind the invasion from its territory and blaming Israeli and Russian “misinformation”.

How about we start with this very informational piece of ‘misinformation’.

Then the Moroccan Minister of Islamic Affairs cited the “sacred struggle to liberate the occupied cities along the Atlantic Ocean” while referencing the Islamic history of Ceuta and its connections to Mohammed.

Nothing to see here, I’m sure. Or here.
