Dutch police officer and family in hiding after death threats over Muslim woman’s arrest

Illustration

The Dutch national police chief has expressed outrage after an officer received so many death threats, following the chaotic arrest of a Muslim woman, that he has been forced to go into hiding with his family for several days.

“A police officer and his family are temporarily living elsewhere due to threats. Let that sink in—a police officer who works every day to keep society safe,” Janny Knol, First Chief Commissioner of the Dutch National Police, wrote on her LinkedIn yesterday.

On January 26, footage of the officer circulated widely on social media across the Netherlands, showing how the arrest of a Muslim woman spiralled out of control during a scuffle in Utrecht.

During the arrest of the veiled woman, her friend follows the officer and the suspect and moves increasingly closer, while filming with her mobile phone. The officer then kicks her, possibly to keep her at a distance.

Subsequently, the other woman — who had been walking along laughing loudly during the arrest, reportedly possibly related to shoplifting — strikes the officer with her bag. The officer then retaliates by hitting her with his baton.

The images have sparked intense public debate in the Netherlands. Supporters of the officer argue that accusations of racism are being made unjustly, while critics accuse him of excessive force and discrimination.

As the controversy escalated, the officer’s personal details were shared online, prompting serious safety concerns.

Meanwhile, the volume and seriousness of the threats have escalated to such an extent that the officer and his family are now staying at a secret location. He is said to fear for his own safety and that of his family.

Knol said the case highlights a broader and growing problem. “Every year, more than 1,200 police officers face threats. An absurd number,” she wrote.

“These are people — people who, like anyone else, can and may make mistakes. Police work is human work. Officers sometimes have to make decisions in a fraction of a second, often under difficult circumstances, while the entire world is watching and has an opinion.”

Annabel Nanninga, a right-wing JA21 party MP, criticised police leadership for initially stating that the footage appeared intense and could be perceived as discriminatory. She said the police should have unequivocally backed the officer from the start.

“That man is arresting a woman and is being approached by someone who is also carrying something, where you can’t see what’s inside it or what’s underneath it,” she said on national television show Nieuw van de Dag (News of the Day).

“That officer also has to think about his own safety.”

The incident comes amid what many describe as a wider crisis of authority facing Dutch police, marked by declining public respect and increasing hostility.

During recent New Year’s Eve disturbances, heavy fireworks were used as weapons against officers in parts of The Hague.

Commentator Shashi Roopram said on Nieuws van de Dag the focus should shift away from scrutinising the officer’s actions.

“If you want to resolve the crisis of authority, everyone should stand behind this threatened officer and stop debating his conduct,” he said, adding that some young people “justify these kinds of threats and constantly play the racism card”.

An independent review committee is investigating the use of force during the arrest. Its findings, expected on February 9, will determine whether the officer acted within reason. The two women involved have filed formal complaints over the incident.

Syrian migrant convicted of sexually assault minor in Germany fights extradition from UK after fleeing probation

Illustration Screengrab youtube

A Syrian migrant, convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Germany before skipping probation and fleeing to the U.K., is fighting his extradition back to Germany, claiming his forced return would violate his human rights.

The case has drawn attention in both Germany and Britain after it emerged that 34-year-old Azizadeen Alsheikh Suliman, who had been living in taxpayer-funded accommodation in England, was wanted under a European arrest warrant for breaching the terms of his sentence.

The assault took place in Osnabrück in 2022, when the victim, then 15, encountered the man in the city center early in the morning. As reported by Bild, he approached her under the pretext of asking for a cigarette before attempting to kiss her and later sexually assaulting her in a nearby courtyard.

The Sun newspaper noted he groped the schoolgirl before exposing himself to her.

German courts later convicted him of sexual assault and also of supplying drugs to a minor, for which he received a two-year suspended custodial sentence, conditional on probation. He was also ordered to pay €3,000 in compensation to the victim, which to date has not been fulfilled.

Instead, Suliman fled Germany, triggering a European arrest warrant. He later travelled to Britain via a small boat in the English Channel, where he applied for asylum using a different spelling of his name, allowing him to avoid detection for several years.

He was housed in a taxpayer-funded hotel in the Greater Manchester area, where he lived with his wife and young child before eventually being identified. At the request of the German authorities, extradition proceedings were commenced.

During hearings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, judges ruled that he should be returned to Germany. Judge Timothy King confirmed that earlier rulings ordering extradition would stand, telling the defendant that none of the arguments presented against extradition were accepted.

However, Suliman has appealed, claiming he faces death if returned to Germany due to the fact that his cousin killed multiple members of another gang in a feud originating in Syria, and that he could be targeted for revenge if he is returned. His defense also invoked Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, arguing his extradition would unjustly separate him from his wife and child.

The appeal is now being heard in the UK.

Should he be returned to Germany, it is likely that Suliman would be required to serve a substantial portion of his suspended sentence, upon completion of which his asylum status would be revoked, potentially leading to deportation proceedings back to Syria.

Another violent ‘transgender’ criminal seeks transfer to women’s prison, ‘transition’ interventions

AI generator

The LGBT movement claims that any refusal to recognize someone’s professed “gender identity” constitutes an act of “transphobic violence.” It is perversely ironic that the practical application of this claim has both bestowed victimhood status on violent criminals and created a class of actual victims – vulnerable women locked up with brutal men in female prisons.

The last decade has provided a conveyor belt of such stories: violent male criminals adopting transgender identities in order to get off with lighter sentences and to gain access to vulnerable imprisoned women. The results have been predictable: assaults, rapes, and lives of terror for the helpless women. Other violent criminals, such as Germany’s infamous “transgender Nazi” Sven Liebich, who now identifies as “Maria-Svenja,” appear to be mocking the entire farcical system.

The LGBT movement’s latest poster boy is Michael Hari, a man serving a 53-year prison sentence for a range of domestic terrorism charges that includes tossing a pipe bomb into a medical office is Champaign, Illinois, in 2017. As Reduxx reported:

Hari, along with the small group, began engaging in criminal activity in 2017 with the intention of carrying out acts of domestic terrorism. In August of that year, Hari’s group set an improvised incendiary device near the Imam’s office of the Dar-al Farooq Islamic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of Hari’s associates, Micheal McWhorter, would later confirm the purpose of the attack was to “scare Muslims out of the United States.” No one was injured in the attack.

Hari called his group the “Patriot Freedom Fighters” and later the “White Rabbits.” The group, which he called his “soldiers,” also engaged in a string of other crimes, including holding up two Walmarts, mugging a Hispanic man, and planting a bomb under the railroad tracks near Effingham, Illinois, and demanding a $190,000 ransom to ward off similar attacks. The White Rabbits were arrested, and Hari got 53 years for the attempted bombing of the Islamic Center and 14 years (served concurrently) for his other crimes.

“During his trial,” Reduxx reported, “it was revealed that Hari identified as a transgender ‘woman.’ While leading the White Rabbit militia, he had been searching terms such as ‘sex change,’ ‘transgender surgery,’ and ‘post-op transgender’ on the internet. Hari allegedly planned on fleeing to Thailand to get ‘gender affirming’ surgeries. Hari formally applied for transfer to a women’s prison in October of 2023, attempting to exhaust his internal remedies.”

The “Transgender Executive Council” – which is an actual organization involved in housing decisions for gender-confused criminals – stated in a January 2024 that Hari would remain in a male prison, although he was “briefly placed in a female classification under US Marshal custody at Sherburne County Jail in Minnesota and Livingston Country Jail in Illinois before being moved back to male classification.” Hari was told that his case would be reviewed again in November. Hari did, however, successfully obtain a card dictating that he only be patted down by female officers.

Hari the terrorist predictably decided that he is a victim and sued the Bureau of Prisons on the basis that he is suffering from sex discrimination because he is a “female” being treated as a male. Last year, the case was initially dismissed on the basis of “improper venue”; Hari promptly filed a new complaint asking for “injunctive and declaratory relief,” claiming that his Fifth Amendment right to equal protection and his Eighth Amendment right against “cruel and unusual punishment” are allegedly being violated. He is asking to be placed in a women’s facility and demanding that the Bureau of Prisons facilitate a “sex change.”

“Hari is unsafe in any male prison due to her female sex characteristics,” the lawsuit states. “[Denying] [Mr.] Hari classification as a female inmate in accordance with [his] legal female sex, placing [him] at risk of sexually abusive victimization and discriminating against [his] on the basis of [his] sex.” (The bomb-thrower is no doubt an expert on safety.) Hari had initially begun “feminizing hormones” after a series of assessments in 2018 recommended “hormone therapy, electrolysis hair removal, [genital surgery], breast implants, and access to feminine undergarments and clothing,” according to Reduxx.

According to Hari’s lawsuit, Trump’s 2025 executive order banning the use of federal funds for transgender interventions – an issue Trump famously campaigned on – resulted in prison staff informing Hari that “transgender no longer exists” and “there’s only two genders now” and that his “transition” journey came to an abrupt and unjust end. In fact, even the bomber’s female underwear were seized:

In January of 2025, an announcement was posted on the FBOP electronics billboard announcing that President Trump’s Executive order 14168, titled with the Orwellian title; ‘Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government’ would be implemented by the FBOP … On March 15, 2025, at the FBOP Oklahoma City Transfer Center, Ms. Hari’s female undergarments were seized by staff in implementation of Trump’s Executive Order … and were not returned to her.

Hari, who is in a male correctional facility in Oregon, is demanding that the Bureau of Prisons reclassify him as female and resume his “sex change” interventions. Reduxx noted that Hari’s lawsuit is similar to the case of transgender-identifying pedophile Brian Buckingham, who sexually abused his son but changed his name to “Nani Love” just before sentencing and successfully sued the Bureau of Prisons for access to “laser hair removal and other cosmetic services” on the premise that these constituted “medically necessary care.”

The truly insane aspect of these lawsuits, of course, is that if you accept the fundamental premise of the transgender movement – that a man who identifies as a woman is a woman – the domestic terrorist and the pedophile are genuine victims, and the women locked behind bars with them are not. Ideas have consequences. Hari and Buckingham are fully aware of that.

Algerian Olympic Boxer Imane Khelif Admits To Having Male Sex Chromosome For The First Time

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has confirmed he has a Y chromosome, indicating he is biologically male. In a new interview with French sports outlet L’Equipe, Khelif also admitted to having elevated testosterone levels, which he says he has been medically suppressing under the supervision of a doctor.

Khelif has been the subject of extreme controversy since the 2024 Paris Olympics, after Reduxx first revealed that he had previously been disqualified by the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships after failing a sex test. The news sparked a firestorm of backlash, with the IBA coming out in opposition to the Olympic’s decision to allow biological males to box against women in Paris.

Attempting to address the controversy, the IBA held a press conference in August of 2024, repeatedly confirming that Khelif had failed multiple chromosomal tests. The IBA also revealed they had been barred from releasing the results of those tests by the Algerian Olympic Committee. It is reported that during the press conference, BBC journalists walked out in support of Khelif.

Despite the IBA’s findings, the International Olympic Committee allowed Khelif to continue boxing in the women’s 66kg category, where he ultimately took gold.

Since then, multiple leaked medical reports have been released, all of which indicate Khelif has a disorder of sexual development and is biologically male.

One leaked report, which was drafted in June of 2023 via a collaboration between the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital in Paris and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine hospital in Algiers, revealed that Khelif is impacted by 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a disorder of sexual development that is only found in biological males.

The genetic abnormality influences the normal development of a child’s sexual organs. At birth, male babies impacted are often incorrectly assigned female due to the presence of deformed genitalia that sometimes takes on the appearance of a “blind vaginal pouch.”  This disordered development typically becomes apparent by puberty, when impacted adolescents begin to experience signs of masculinization such as muscle growth, hair growth, and an absence of breast tissue development or menstruation.

In 2025, yet another test was leaked by Olympic press committee member Alan Abrahamson, confirming once again that Khelif has a male karyotype.

Khelif has now admitted to having XY chromosomes for the first time in a new interview with French sports outlet L’Equipe.

In the interview, Khelif confirmed he has the SRY gene carried on a Y chromosome. ‘SRY’ stands for Sex-determining Region of the Y, a gene that initiates typical male sexual development by triggering testes formation.

Khelif also clarified that he was not transgender and pointed to his upbringing as a ‘girl,’ stating: “I am not a trans woman, I am a girl. I was raised as a girl, I grew up as a girl, the people in my village have always known me as a girl.”

However, individuals with disorders of sexual development are not considered transgender, and without access to proper clinical examination, males with similar disorders of sexual development may incorrectly believe they are female into adulthood. Global health researchers have noted that rare developmental conditions are systematically under-diagnosed or misdiagnosed in low-resource countries – such as Khelif’s home of Algeria – for this reason.

As previously reported by Reduxx, Khelif’s coach had previously noted the boxer had been incredibly shocked by the results of his karyotype test in 2023 following his disqualification by the International Boxing Association.

In an exclusive interview with Le Point magazine in 2024, Georges Cazorla spoke of Khelif’s distress after being disqualified by the IBA, confirming that the biological tests had been carried out by the IBA that revealed that Khelif may not be female – something which appeared to blindside Khelif.

“The [disqualification] was based on tests. Frankly, I found it disgusting. Regardless of the results of these biological tests and, without going into detail – that is a matter for biologists and doctors – this poor young girl was devastated, devastated to suddenly discover that she might not be a girl,” Cazorla said.

Despite the admission by Khelif’s coach and the repeat medical record leaks confirming Khelif was biologically male, mainstream media outlets and activists continued to insist that Khelif was female and had simply been the victim of a “transphobic smear campaign” which targeted him because of his appearance.

In his interview with L’Equipe, Khelif expressed optimism about his career and insisted he intended to defend his Olympic gold in Los Angeles in 2028. But Khelif does not acknowledge that as a direct result of the controversy caused by his participation in Paris, World Boxing introduced mandatory sex testing for all boxers in its competitions last year. World Boxing is the international governing body for the sport, and is currently the IOC’s official partner federation for Olympic boxing.

Khelif has filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against World Boxing for its sex testing policy, but has said he would be willing to submit to sex testing “only if it is administered by the IOC.”

At this time, it is unclear if Khelif or the Algerian Olympic Committee have reached a quiet agreement with the IOC regarding his participation—possibly securing an exception that would allow athletes with disorders of sexual development to compete in their self-identified category. However, this is currently just speculation and no formal announcement of such an accommodation has been made.

As it stands, World Boxing’s policy explicitly restricts participation in the women’s category to biological females and, in November of 2025, the International Olympic Committee hinted that it would be adopting a similar policy intended to prevent males from participating in the women’s category in 2026.

While Khelif communicated that he was confident he will pass a sex test, he has previously exited competitions which required him to do so. He has also withdrawn Court of Arbitration for Sport appeals which would have likely required him to undergo a sex test to demonstrate his claims that he is biologically female.

Spain Amnesty: Gov’t to Take Illegals’ Word That They Don’t Have Criminal Record

The socialist Spanish government’s amnesty scheme will allow illegal migrants to simply declare that they have no criminal record, rather than providing documentation from their native countries, sparking concern over criminals gaming the system.

Last month, the left-wing coalition government of Socialist PM Pedro Sánchez agreed to allow upwards of half a million illegals seek amnesty and obtain residence permits to remain in Spain.

While the scheme stipulates that amnesty will not apply to migrants with criminal records — other than the crime of entering Spain illegally — the regularisation decree published by the government this week revealed that Madrid will essentially be willing to take the word of illegal migrants about their past.

According to the ABC newspaper, an illegal will be able to make such a declaration if they can show that they have merely requested their criminal history from their country of origin or the country where they have resided in the past five years.

“If this information is not received within one month, the Administration will inform the interested party of this circumstance, who may submit a sworn statement of the absence of a criminal record,” the decree states.

Law enforcement sources told the paper that the system is bound to drive up migrant crime rates.

“Let’s not fool ourselves; if this information were requested from Spain by a third party, it would normally take us more than a month,” a police insider said. “The countries of origin aren’t going to have any special interest in cooperating… and that’s just talking about criminal records, not police records when there are many crimes that never go to trial, neither here nor abroad.”

Meanwhile, concerns have also been raised that the amnesty programme is creating a “pull factor” for more illegal immigration. The National Police have also reportedly noticed an influx of illegals residing in other European countries coming to Spain to try to take advantage of the amnesty scheme.

According to ABC, long lines witnessed in recent days outside of the Algerian consulate in Alicante were not a result of Algerians who live in Spain, but rather were in large part a result of illegals from France seeking to gain residence permits in the EU so they can return to France as legal migrants.

Despite the scheme potentially allowing more than two million foreigners to gain residence in Spain and, therefore, the ability to travel freely within the EU’s internal open border system, the Commission has so far refused to intervene to prevent the amnesty. This comes in contrast to the typically interventionist stance from Brussels towards domestic policies in conservative countries seeking to place limits on, for instance, abortion or LGBT education.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who lost the last election but remained in power after siding with Catalan separatists, has argued that the West must import more migrants to maintain its economies and public services.

However, the far-left Podemos party, with which he partnered to pass the amnesty programme, was more candid about their motivations, with Member of the European Parliament Irene Montero openly declaring that she wishes to “replace” her countrymen with foreigners.

“I wish for replacement theory, I wish we could sweep this country of fascists and racists with migrants, with working people,” she said last week. “Of course, I want there to be replacement: replacement of fascists, replacement of racists, replacement of freeloaders, and that we can do it with working people, whatever their skin colour may be.”

The incident occurred on February 2, during a stop of SOS Leben’s “Pro-Life Tour.” According to reports cited by the organisers and local media, a group of counter-protesters described as belonging to the far-left spectrum attempted to disrupt the event by shouting slogans, damaging banners, interfering with the stand and even injuring participants. Objects were reportedly thrown, and confrontations ensued, during which two volunteers sustained injuries and were subsequently treated in hospital.

Police officers present at the scene intervened to prevent further escalation and arrested those responsible for the attacks. The event was able to continue only under police protection. At the time of reporting, authorities had not released further details on charges but confirmed that the incident was documented and is under investigation.

Broken Europe: Asylum seekers are paid €79 million due to late fees on their asylum applications in the Netherlands

Illustration AI generator

Every time an asylum seeker’s case is not processed on time in the Netherlands, that asylum seeker is getting paid late fees, with this sum reaching a record-breaking €79 million in 2025.

The latest figure shows a staggering increase from the €36.8 million paid in 2024. This information was revealed in the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) agency’s annual figures released this Tuesday.

The agency is now calling for the Dutch government to abolish the practice of paying out asylum seekers with these late fees.

While the €79 million may not seem like an enormous figure, it only adds to the total €400 billion spent on migrants between 1995 and 2021, according to a landmark study from the University of Amsterdam.

In fact, one of the main problems facing the agency is that there are simply so many asylum seekers. The core of the issue lies in “exorbitant fines” triggered by massive backlogs. While the IND is legally mandated to process applications within six months, the average waiting time has now ballooned to 67 weeks.

Despite a slight dip in new applications last year, the total backlog grew to 51,000 people by the start of 2026. This has led to a massive spike in litigation, with legal proceedings involving the IND rising from 89,320 in 2024 to 110,990 in 2025. These cases include both penalty claims and appeals against rejections.

Under current law, if a decision is not reached within eighteen months, an asylum seeker can petition the court for a penalty payment. These are typically set at €15,000 per person, though they can go higher.

Rhodia Maas, director general of the IND, argues that these financial punishments do nothing to solve the underlying problem.

“Applicants have the right to timely processing by the IND. But as strange as it may sound, penalty procedures don’t help. We want to decide more quickly, but we simply can’t,” Maas stated.

She emphasized that the legal process itself drains resources from the agency, making it even more difficult to process applications in a timely manner.

“Every penalty procedure costs us not only money but also a lot of capacity. I think we could put that to much better use. Penalty payments should therefore be abolished as soon as possible,” she said.

The appeal comes as the new government cabinet — comprised of D66, CDA, and VVD — begins its term. The Reformed Political Party (SGP) has already introduced an amendment to the Asylum Emergency Measures Act aimed at ending what they say is “the circus of penalty payments.” However, the bill has not been passed yet by the Senate.

The IND also points out that cases are getting more complex, influenced by shifting geopolitical realities in countries like Syria, new political directives from The Hague, and evolving court rulings.

The upcoming implementation of the European Migration Pact in June 2026 is expected to overhaul the system further. While designed to speed up decisions on paper, the transition itself poses a challenge.

French MPs Consider Granting Voting Rights to Non-EU Citizens in Municipal Elections

On February 4th, the French National Assembly’s legal commission adopted a constitutional bill “aimed at granting non-EU foreigners residing in France the right to vote and stand for election in municipal elections.” The bill is scheduled to be debated in plenary session on February 12th.

Pushed by the Left, this constitutional amendment would be a tremendous encouragement for Muslim community voting at the local level. If the process is successful, it will also prove that it is always possible to amend the constitution to maximise the effects of immigration on the country—never the other way around.

The right of foreigners to vote in local elections is a long-standing demand of the Left. Since 1992, European Union nationals residing in a member state of which they are not nationals have been able to vote and stand as candidates in that state in municipal elections and in elections to the European Parliament. But the reform proposed in the initiative would this time apply to foreigners from outside the European Union. It is due to be examined by MPs on February 12th, during the Greens’ parliamentary initiative day.

Six million people would be affected by the reform, who “participate in the daily life of our cities, pay their local taxes, send their children to our schools and contribute to our economy,” according to the arguments put forward by the MPs behind the proposal. The proposal would also grant non-European foreigners the right to be eligible for the position of municipal councillor, although they would still be barred from becoming mayor.

Despite the Left’s initial ‘victory’ following the bill’s approval in committee, the battle is far from over. The assembly is deeply divided on the issue. The right-wing factions and the Rassemblement National are adamantly opposed to moving in this direction. Furthermore, this is a constitutional amendment initiated by parliamentarians, which means that it must be validated by referendum after being adopted by MPs and senators. If the reform were to pass, it would still not apply to the municipal elections scheduled for 15 and 22 March this year. But with the municipal elections approaching, the Left is pushing the symbolic issue to control the agenda.

The government, for its part, is concerned about the rise of “municipal Islam” and the proliferation of community lists. The possibility of granting foreigners the right to vote in local elections provides encouragement to these lists. According to the conservative weekly Valeurs Actuelles, only “a few dozen” towns are under the surveillance of the Interior Ministry, which keeps an eye on explicit community lists but is also wary of entryism strategies, which are more difficult to detect. In Strasbourg, for example, under the guise of multiculturalism, far-left candidate Cem Yoldas, a member of the Jeune Garde Antifasciste (Young Anti-Fascist Guard), printed his leaflets in Turkish and Arabic—a way of addressing “all the people of Strasbourg,” according to him.

On the Right, the proposed constitutional law is causing consternation. The RN has long been calling for fundamental reforms to immigration law and a referendum on migration policy. The universal response from their political opponents and the media is that these areas do not fall within the scope of a referendum. But there are ways to force a referendum, as the Green Party’s proposal proves. For Sarah Knafo, candidate for the Reconquête party in Paris and partner of Éric Zemmour, the left’s strategy is particularly harmful and signals its political failure: “When you can no longer convince voters, you create new ones,” she said on X. She also pointed to the link between control of local voting and the preservation of sovereignty: “City councillors elect senators: giving foreigners the vote gives them influence over our laws. That’s a no-no.”

Globalist Coup: Bombshell Congressional Report Says Calin Georgescu’s National Conservative Victory Was Overturned by EU Elites & Romanian Courts

Călin Georgescu via Facebook

A bombshell report emerging from the United States Congress is sending shockwaves through the Old Continent, placing Romania—and its corrupt liberal-globalist regime— at the center of what American lawmakers now describe as a modern political coup carried out under the guise of ‘election security.’

According to findings released by the US House Judiciary Committee days ago, Romania’s 2024 presidential election, which saw frontrunner Călin Georgescu unceremoniously banned from running, was not merely mishandled—it was deliberately overturned.

The interim congressional report, published in early 2026, concludes that the Romanian electoral process was subverted through censorship, institutional pressure, and foreign interference originating not from Moscow, as the globalist politicians and their lying lackeys in the mainstream press told us, but from Brussels. The report explicitly states that on December 6, 2024, Romania experienced a de facto coup d’état when its Constitutional Court annulled the presidential election results.

At the heart of the controversy is national-conservative and sovereignist candidate Călin Georgescu, who stunned Romania’s political establishment by winning the first round of voting in November 2024. Running as an independent outsider, Georgescu campaigned on national sovereignty, cultural preservation, and opposition to globalist governance—positions that resonated deeply with voters disillusioned by the entrenched, out-of-touch political class.

Rather than allowing the democratic process to continue, Romanian authorities abruptly halted it. The justification rested on a claim by Romanian intelligence services—widely disputed and poorly substantiated—that Georgescu had benefited from a Russian-backed TikTok operation allegedly involving 25,000 coordinated accounts.

However, internal TikTok documents later submitted to both Romanian authorities and the European Commission flatly contradicted that claim. TikTok’s own threat intelligence teams repeatedly stated they found no evidence of a Russian influence campaign tied to Georgescu, nor any coordinated network of the size alleged.

Despite this, the European Commission seized on the unproven narrative to activate its Digital Services Act (DSA) “rapid response” censorship mechanisms. These systems empower EU regime-aligned ‘fact-checkers’ and NGOs—overwhelmingly left-wing and pro-globalist—to issue priority takedown requests for political content during elections.

According to the US congressional report, Romania became the most aggressive testing ground for this censorship regime. Platforms were pressured to remove national-conservative and sovereignist content, silence Georgescu’s supporters, ultimately erase his digital presence altogether, and criminalize his opposition.

Romanian electoral authorities went so far as to demand that “all materials containing images of Călin Georgescu must be removed,” a sweeping order TikTok itself flagged as politically motivated and legally questionable. The platform refused to comply fully, citing freedom of expression concerns.

Nonetheless, the damage was done. On December 6, 2024, Romania’s Constitutional Court annulled both the first round results and the scheduled runoff, which Georgescu was set to win, citing the same unsubstantiated intelligence claims. Georgescu was later formally barred from running in the rescheduled May 2025 election.

Subsequent investigations revealed a stunning twist: evidence from Romania’s own tax authority indicated that the TikTok promotion initially blamed on Russia had been funded by another Romanian political party. Yet the election results were never reinstated.

Instead, Romania’s political establishment pushed forward with a rerun election stripped of its most popular nationalist candidate. Predictably, the system’s preferred, EU-aligned candidate emerged victorious, cementing what critics now call an institutionalized theft of the presidency.

American lawmakers argue this was no isolated incident. The Judiciary Committee report documents similar EU-driven censorship efforts in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Moldova, Ireland, and Slovakia, all under the banner of combating “disinformation.”

What distinguishes Romania, however, is the scale and brazenness of the regime’s intervention. The report describes the country as the clearest example yet of how supranational institutions can override national democracy when voters choose the ‘wrong’ candidate.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that globalist bureaucracies no longer tolerate genuine national-conservative and anti-globalist victories, whether in Europe or the United States. Congressional investigators now argue that Romania’s experience mirrors the broader assault on national sovereignty Trump has spent years confronting.

For Romanians seeking freedom from the grip of entrenched, anti-national elite politicians, the Georgescu affair has become a symbol of democratic betrayal. He was a candidate chosen by the people and removed not at the ballot box through censorship, authoritarian pressure, and judicial fiat.

The implications extend far beyond Romania. The American report warns that European censorship mechanisms increasingly affect American speech, American platforms, and American elections through transatlantic regulatory pressure.

As hearings continue in Washington, one conclusion becomes increasingly apparent: Romania did not lose its election to foreign hackers—it lost it to globalist governance structures unwilling to accept nationalist outcomes.

For Romanians and Europeans more broadly, the fight is no longer just about one election but about whether democracy and the nation-state can survive.
