Working-class people remain unashamedly patriotic. Middle-class elites, however, embrace what Roger Scruton called the culture of repudiation — hostility to country, history, and tradition. Anecdotes from London bookshops to mass demonstrations reveal the depth of this self-denigration. The antidote is to march proudly, to display patriotism, and to reclaim England’s honour.

Switzerland to Introduce Digital ID Cards After Razor-Thin Referendum
Digital identity cards are set to be introduced in Switzerland after voters narrowly approved a referendum on Sunday.
Despite the majority of the cantons voting against the e-ID legislation, a razor-thin majority of 50.39 per cent of the Swiss public voted in favour of introducing digital identification, Blick reported.
Voters had previously rejected a similar effort in 2021; however, after Swiss lawmakers backed the creation of a digital ID, signatures were quickly gathered to put the measure back before the people in a referendum on Sunday.
It remains to be seen if this will be the final word on the matter, with opponents calling for another vote given the incredibly narrow result.
Critics of the Federal Act on Electronic Identity have warned that the technology used is insufficient to protect citizen data from cyberattacks and hacks.
Opponents have also warned that digital IDs could be the beginning of an all-encompassing surveillance state, which could be used to punish government critics or dissidents.
Proponents have noted that it will be an optional system, and that government authorities or private firms which use the system will be prohibited from obtaining more information than is needed from the digital ID card.
The system has been pitched as being a means for Swiss citizens to “identify themselves digitally in a secure, fast and uncomplicated way”.
The IDs, which will function as a smartphone app, will be used to access government services, provide age verification, and enable virtual transactions, such as opening a bank account or starting a mobile phone contract.
The government is also said to be planning to use the system to introduce digital travel tickets and potentially use it to develop an e-voting system.
It comes amid heated debate in the United Kingdom over similar plans to introduce a digital identity system. The left-wing Labour government in London has pitched it as a means of preventing illegal migrants from working in Britain.
However, critics have noted that those who don’t follow the law already — like illegal migrants — are unlikely to do so with a digital ID, and therefore, it would only impact law-abiding British citizens. The plans, which have long been advocated for by the likes of former PM Tony Blair, have sparked a major backlash, with over two million citizens signing a petition against digital IDs.
Blood flows in Germany: 1 dead and 5 seriously injured after battle between 2 Turkish families on the streets of troubled Gelsenkirchen

One man is dead and two are in critical condition after two Turkish families battled on the streets of the troubled German city of Gelsenkirchen.
The clash began as a loud argument and then quickly escalated into a mass brawl involving knives and other weapons, resulting in the death of one 56-year-old man.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m., approximately 30 people clashed in the Bismarck district of the heavily migrant city.
According to police, this was no ordinary brawl. The members of the two families were armed with baseball bats, tasers, knives, and other dangerous weapons during the clash.

In total, five people recorded serious injuries, including a woman. Four of them sustained life-threatening injuries due to stab wounds.
The 56-year-old deceased victim was stabbed in the heart, resulting in him later dying in the hospital.
The scene became a sea of blue police lights, crime scene tape, and ambulances racing to nearby hospitals. Two individuals remain in critical condition and are fighting for their lives.
Police conducted a major operation in the area, with backup units arriving from around the Ruhr region, considered one of the troubled “rust belt” areas of Germany. In addition, a police helicopter was deployed.
Police had trouble locking down the crime scene as relatives and friends of the victims streamed into the area. Although Bild reports that rival Turkish families were involved in the incident, the paper indicated that initial reports that the incident was related to warring “clans” have not yet been confirmed by police.
The Ruhr area is located in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which has been troubled by extreme clan violence in recent years. These feuds often feature dozens of perpetrators battling in the streets, as well as kidnappings, bomb attacks, and murders.
Six arrests have been made at the scene, including three male suspects aged 16, 29, and 52, as well as three female suspects, 25, 28, and 50.
Homicide squad officers are currently investigating and are looking for witnesses to come forward.
AfD loses Gelsenkirchen race last night
The city recently made national news due to a runoff election yesterday, Sept. 28, featuring an Alternative for Germany mayoral candidate, Norbert Emmerich, pitted against a Social Democrat (SPD) candidate. The SPD easily won with 66.9 percent of the vote, with Andrea Henze becoming the city’s new mayor. After her victory, she described the city as “unbelievably beautiful.”
The city is known for its blighted districts, growing urban decay, and growing insecurity. However, 25 percent of the population is now made up of foreigners, and many of the city’s remaining population have a foreign background. As a result, even though the AfD performed well in the first round, it had trouble securing a majority of votes.
This situation may accelerate across the country. Germany is becoming less secure, but more diverse, which means that many are turning to the AfD with their votes, but at the same time, those with a foreign background are far less likely to vote for the party.
Growing clan crime in Gelsenkirchen
In a Focus interview from two days ago, the city is described as a “hotspot for social fraud and clan crime.” The paper interviewed Police Chief Tim Frommeyer, who explained how the security situation is deteriorating.
“Gelsenkirchen has always been and continues to be a multicultural city. Nevertheless, especially in the Ruhr area, including here in Gelsenkirchen, many decisions made with good intentions have developed into real problems,” he said.
“The people of this city notice that, despite the city’s great commitment, the cityscape has changed to the detriment of the past decade. Garbage, junk properties and numerous administrative offenses are obvious,” he added.
He pointed to the high rates of crimes committed by people with foreign status.
“Depending on the field of crime, (the rate of foreigner crime) is between 34 and 58 percent. The proportion is particularly high in the case of offenses against life, namely 57.1 percent, and in the area of theft, property and forgery offenses, here the figure is 57.8 percent,” he stated.
Moreover, the growth of clan crime is alarming, as has been seen across Germany.
“In these cases, we perceive increasingly better organized structures, these are networks that have grown over a long period of time and are partly controlled by clans and extended families,” the police chief stated. “Of course, here in Gelsenkirchen we still have a problem with Turkish-Lebanese clans and the associated crimes and crime phenomena. This is about, for example, drugs, money laundering or, as you say, bodily harm crimes. We are also increasingly noticing rivalry with Syrian clans.”
However, as multiculturalism increases, so does the variety of groups competing with each other.
“As has already been said, we are not only dealing with Turkish-Lebanese clans nationwide, including in Gelsenkirchen. Syrian, but also Romanian and Bulgarian clans are now positioning themselves more and more strongly in the scene,” said Frommeyer.
Refugees in Four-Star Hotels as Germany’s Bill Hits €193 Million

Germany’s largest cities are shelling out hundreds of millions of euros on housing thousands of refugees in hotels, as local authorities struggle to cope with a lack of social housing and emergency shelters. Despite a decline in the overall number of asylum applications, the inflow of Ukrainian refugees entitled to initial accommodation has left city administrations with little choice but to turn to the private sector.
According to Bild, Germany’s ten largest cities—plus Essen, Dresden, Potsdam, Hanover, Chemnitz, and Rostock—reported that 11,809 refugees were living in hotels and guesthouses at the end of June. The cost in the first half of 2025 alone amounted to more than €193 million.
Hamburg, one of the hardest-hit cities, accommodated 5,303 people across 55 facilities, including a four-star hotel. With the local welfare department paying €83 per person per night (covering board, lodging, and security), the city spent €86.2 million between January and June. Berlin followed with around 3,340 refugees, costing nearly €37 million in six months. Cologne reported €12.3 million for 1,307 people; Düsseldorf €5.5 million for 758; Frankfurt €2.8 million for 622. Munich spent €4.9 million, Hanover €527,000, and Leipzig housed 120 in former hotels.
Some municipalities—including Dortmund, Potsdam, Bremen, Chemnitz, Dresden, and Rostock—have resisted turning hotels into makeshift shelters. Others, such as Stuttgart and Essen, declined to provide figures.
On average, the numbers suggest that housing a refugee in Germany under the hotel model costs around €16,300 per person for six months, or €32,500 a year. Officials stress that such arrangements are temporary, but the scarcity of permanent accommodation means the practice will likely continue well into 2026.
Spain faces similar pressures, though estimates vary widely. A report from think tank NEOS suggested that immigration could cost the Spanish state €30 billion annually in benefits, services, and welfare provisions. This equates to about €6,000 per immigrant annually, assuming a population of five million foreign residents.
Other calculations paint a far starker picture: in 2023, the arrival of 57,000 illegal migrants was said to have cost around €3 billion, or more than €50,000 per person when all emergency services were included.
Spain’s regions are spending thousands of euros each month on the care of unaccompanied foreign minors (MENAs) as well, with figures revealing stark regional disparities.
In Andalusia, the annual cost per child reaches around €53,000, or €4,400 a month, while Catalonia set aside €115 million in 2024 to support 4,802 minors—an average of just over €4,000 per child each month.
The Canary Islands, a key entry point for illegal migration, have borne the heaviest burden. Hosting some 6,000 minors in 2024 cost the archipelago €311 million, amounting to more than €51,000 per child per year. Transfers of nearly 3,900 minors from the islands to other regions are expected to add more than €205 million annually to Spain’s national bill.
Taliban commander’s nephew wins asylum bid to bring family to UK despite warnings of a ‘burden on public purse’
A Taliban commander’s nephew has been granted refugee status in the UK alongside his seven family members currently living in Turkey, despite warnings of bringing a “burden upon the public purse”.
An immigration judge granted the request despite none of the family speaking English, but it was deemed they had “no options” and were unable to return to Afghanistan.
The ruling comes despite ministers promising to restrict the rights of refugees to be joined by relatives.
The nephew, referred to only as “S” in the ruling, arrived in the UK in 2016 claiming to be 15, but was later age-assessed as 18.
His uncle was said to be a Taliban commander who had been pressuring his father to allow “S join the Jihad”.
The nephew was sent to Kabul by his father to get away from his uncle.
However, “S” was stabbed by two cousins because of the family dispute, leading to him fleeing Afghanistan, the tribunal heard.
“S” was given indefinite leave to remain in the UK after a psychotherapist in 2018 said he had post-traumatic stress.
German State Public Radio and TV Broadcaster NDR Suppresses Explosive Documentary Exposing OCCRP Election Meddling and Secret U.S. Funding

Germany’s taxpayer-funded state broadcaster NDR is desperately trying to bury its own investigative documentary that exposes the shady journalist network OCCRP. The reason? The film caught OCCRP chief Drew Sullivan on camera bragging that his organization was “responsible for overthrowing five or six governments.”
The revelations are devastating. NDR reporters uncovered that OCCRP—whose media partners include Der Spiegeland Die Zeit—was secretly bankrolled from the United States for decades. When the documentary turned out to be critical instead of a love letter, Sullivan reportedly pressured NDR to kill the project. The state broadcaster complied, scrapping the documentary before it aired and cutting ties with OCCRP in 2023. The scandal finally leaked in December 2024 through the French platform Mediapart.
Censorship and Threats Against an Elected Official
Now, as OCCRP is embroiled in a massive EU funding scandal, the suppressed film has resurfaced. MEP Petr Bystron (AfD) revealed through an inquiry that OCCRP received €600,000 from EU coffers immediately after the European elections—right after the network ran smear campaigns against conservative candidates, including Bystron himself.
Despite this interference, Bystron won his seat and published the hidden film online. That’s when NDR struck back, issuing him a cease-and-desist order and threatening fines of up to €50,000. The state broadcaster appears terrified that Sullivan’s own words might reach the public.
OCCRP in Panic Mode
Sullivan and OCCRP reacted furiously on X, dismissing the leaked documentary as “attacks” on their organization. But Sullivan offered no explanation as to how quoting his own on-camera admissions could be an “attack.” OCCRP also dodged questions from the Berliner Zeitung about its EU payments, merely insisting it was still “independent.”
Sullivan’s radical views are also on display elsewhere. After the brutal murder of American conservative Charlie Kirk, the OCCRP boss gloated: “A moment of silence is not appropriate. He was no hero. […] He was a racist, an anti-democratic liar.”
U.S. Fallout
The scandal is reverberating across the Atlantic. President Donald Trump already cut OCCRP’s lifeline by halting its funding via USAID. And now, U.S. media like Gateway Pundit and InfoWars are exposing how this so-called “investigative” network has been weaponized to manipulate elections and topple governments worldwide.
Dutch parliament rejects resolution declaring abortion a ‘human right’
On September 23, the Dutch parliament rejected a resolution that would have declared abortion to be a “human right.”
According to Christian Network Europe News, the “private members’ motion asked the government to advocate with a ‘leading group of like-minded countries’ to enshrine the right to abortion in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.”
The motion was supported by the government, and a number of parties – including the D66, the Socialist SP, the Liberal VVD, and others – supported it, accounting for 68 of the 150 seats. The Reformatorisch Dagblad reported that the SGP, the Reformed political party, prepared a counter-motion along with the Christian Union and Forum for Democracy parties requesting that the government oppose EU efforts to include abortion as a “human right” in European treaties, which will be voted on later.
The PVV, SGP, and CU (Christian Union) voted against a motion requesting that “abortion care” be included as “a standard part of the basic emergency assistance” in response to sexual violence; this motion was accepted. SGP and CU put forward a motion “to make reducing the number of abortions an explicit goal of Dutch foreign policy,” and this was rejected by the House. The SGP did, however, achieve a separate success. From CNE News:
The House narrowly accepted an SGP motion on prenatal screenings on Tuesday. The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities expressed concern last year about “the widespread use” of non-invasive prenatal testing in the Netherlands to detect foetal abnormalities, “which may lead to the termination of pregnancies”. The committee stated that this reflects “underlying discriminatory attitudes towards persons with disabilities”.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, the motion asked the government to consider what actions could be taken to counter “the potentially stigmatising effect” of prenatal screenings. There were 76 votes for this resolution.
In the lead-up to the successful defeat of the motion to declare abortion a fundamental human right, the Dutch Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (DCBR) handed out pro-life pamphlets outside the parliament buildings, where they stood with abortion victim photography signs.
“Leading up to the moment when Parliament would vote on the motion to make abortion a human right, we individually mailed all parliamentarians a neutral outline of abortion procedures, including screenshots from the Live Action abortion procedure videos, to give them an insight into what they would be voting for or against,” said DCBR’s Irmgard Averesch. “Chris Stoffer of the SGP and Gideon van Meijeren of the FvD both made strong cases for life, focusing on the humanity of the unborn and the gravity of abortion. Both showed compassion for difficult circumstances, while pointing out that there are two lives involved in abortion—one of them being the unborn child. Van Meijeren was even able to show abortion victim photography.”
The result comes as a relief for pro-lifers. “We are grateful to God that, whether our work or that of different prolife organizations had influence in the decision, that it was voted out,” Averesch said. “However, it was a close call, and we should not be sitting back and relax now. There is a lot of work to be done since the pro-choice voice is getting louder again.”
There has been a push by abortion activists across Europe to enshrine abortion as a human right both at the national and the continental level; France has already done so, and the UK House of Commons recently decriminalized abortion up until birth. In the Netherlands, for the time being, these efforts have failed – and a Dutch court also overturned a ban on pro-lifers speaking to women entering abortion clinics earlier this month.
France: An African man receives a suspended sentence for mistreating his ex-wife, who had an abortion. ‘In Islam, you deserve death if you kill someone… She can keep my children, I can have more’

In Islam, you deserve death if you kill someone. That’s what she did with her abortion.” 47-year-old Modibo Dembaga from Mali is on trial for beating, pushing and kicking his wife in the knees on September 20 in Montmacq. The prosecution accuses him of making death threats.
The defendant admits to the death threats. And the acts of violence, except for the kicking. “Contrary to what she says, I was at home. I even woke the children up. She told you that we have been separated for two years. That is not true. My wife has a restaurant in Montmacq, where I was painting even though I was ill. I’m having a nervous breakdown and it’s causing me back pain. I’m just a Muslim who does his prayers. I slept there the whole of August. I left Montmacq on Saturday, and when I came back on Monday morning, she had changed the lock. I wanted to take the children to school.” So he admits that he did not spend the previous night with his ex-partner.
‘As you say, a woman in France has control over her own body…’ replies the judge. ‘If I release you, will you kill her?’ ‘No, I don’t even want to see her again,’ he replies. ‘I’m going to live my life, there are plenty of other women out there (…)’
‘The judge sent you to prison because of your disturbing statements, as it is Islam that tells you to kill your wife,’ interjects the prosecutor. ‘There is also a fear that you will take your children to Mali.’ ‘She can keep my children, I can have more children.’
The court acquits the defendant of the murder threats, as these were not repeated. As he has no previous convictions, the court sentences him to six months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, for the acts of violence. He is required to undergo treatment and is prohibited from being at the victim’s place of residence and workplace.
75-Year-Old Grandmother Arrested for Offering to Talk to Abortion-Seeking Women
A 75-year-old grandmother was arrested near a Glasgow hospital for holding a sign offering to talk to women considering an abortion.
Rose Docherty, an anti-abortion activist, was arrested by Scottish police on Saturday outside the in Glasgow, The Telegraph reported, for holding a placard that read: “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want.”
This apparently contravened the Safe Access Zones Act in Scotland, which prohibits people from protesting within 200 meters (656 feet) of abortion clinics.
The legislation, which came into effect in September of last year, prohibits anyone from “approaching someone to try and persuade them not to access abortion services, surrounding people as they try to go in or out of the clinic or hospital, handing out leaflets, religious preaching,” or even holding “silent vigils” outside abortion clinics.

The so-called “buffer zone” legislation makes it a criminal offence to attempt to influence women not to get an abortion outside of clinics, with fines of up to £10,000 or potentially limitless fines in supposedly severe cases. It is also an offence to “impede their access; or otherwise cause alarm, harassment or distress.”
Docherty was previously arrested in February outside of another abortion clinic in Scotland while holding the same sign, which she believes does not breach the law as it merely offers counsel to those who want it.
Amid pushback from the Trump administration, with Vice President JD Vance highlighting the issue, Scottish prosecutors dropped the charges against the 75-year-old grandmother in August.
Commenting on her latest arrest, Docherty said, “Everybody has the right to engage in consensual conversation. I held my sign with love and compassion, inviting anyone who wants to chat, to do so – and stood peacefully, not approaching anyone.
“I should not be treated as a criminal for inviting people to chat with me – lending a listening ear. Conversation is not forbidden on the streets of Glasgow. And yet, this is the second time I have been arrested for doing just that.”

According to GB News, Docherty was held for several hours and was not provided a chair, despite telling police that she had a double hip replacement.
The U.S. State Department also condemned the arrest, saying: “The arrest of Rose Docherty is another egregious example of the tyrannical suppression of free speech happening across Europe.
“When 75-year-old grandmothers are being arrested for standing peacefully and offering conversation, common sense and basic civility are under attack. The United States will always speak out against these violations of fundamental rights.”
Similar localised restrictions have been put in place across Britain, resulting in multiple arrests for people silently praying in their own heads near abortion clinics.
