The Bible on Trial: Päivi Räsänen Heads to the Supreme Court

Päivi Räsänen ADF International

Finland’s ‘Bible Trial’ is entering the final stage after six years—and the religious liberty of Christians in Finland, and perhaps all of Europe, is riding on the final verdict.

On October 30, 2025, Finnish parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen will appear before the Supreme Court in Finland. Her alleged crime? Quoting the Bible in her writings and in TV and radio interviews in defense of the Christian sexual ethic. It is the latest—and likely the last—step in a years-long process that has riveted the nation and the continent.

“I have been in politics for thirty years in the parliament of Finland,” Räsänen told me in an interview. “I have also been Minister of Interior, and I could never believe that something like this could happen in Finland.”

Räsänen began her career as a staunchly pro-life medical professional and ran for parliament at the urging of her husband, a Lutheran pastor, in 1991. She was elected in 1995 and served as Minister of the Interior from 2011 to 2015 and as leader of the Christian Democrats for over a decade. Over the past thirty years, she has become one of the most respected politicians in the country.

In 2019, Räsänen posted a tweet asking the leadership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland—her church—how it could square a post in support for a Pride event with Romans 1:24-27 and included a photo of the Bible verses. The Finnish police launched an investigation into the tweet as “agitation against a minority group” under Finland’s criminal code, which falls under the “war crimes and crimes against humanity” section and carries fines or up to two years in prison.

The investigators also investigated a 2004 pamphlet defending biblical marriage by Räsänen titled Male and Female He Created Them: Homosexual Relationships Challenge the Christian Concept of Humanity. In 2020, Räsänen faced 13 hours of police interrogation in which she defended the biblical sexual ethic. The Finnish prosecutor general filed charges against her on April 29 for three counts of “agitation against a minority group” despite the police recommending no charges.

On March 30, 2022, the Helsinki District Court unanimously acquitted Räsänen of all charges; on April 30, the prosecutor appealed, asking the Helsinki Court of Appeal for both fines and censorship of Räsänen. On November 14, 2023, the Helsinki Court of Appeal upheld the acquittal—again, unanimously. The state prosecutor, Anu Mantila, refused to give up and appealed to the Finnish Supreme Court. Next month, the LAST stage in the prosecution of Päivi Räsänen will finally be underway.

The prosecutor is clearly malicious. “He claimed that I had said that God has not even created homosexual people,” Räsänen told me. “Of course, I have not said anything like that. But the prosecutor claimed that even though I have not said it, I have thought it, I have meant it, and people understand it, that I think some people are inferior to other people. Of course, I do not think that because it would be against my Christian conviction to say that some people are inferior to me. I said that we are the same in front of God and the constitution.”

“This is a trial about the Bible,” Räsänen emphasized. “It is a trial to determine if we are still allowed to agree in public with the Bible. The prosecutor said it very clearly in our main newspaper, that if I would be finally convicted at the Supreme Court that our Bibles are still allowed to exist, for example, in libraries, and you can refer to the Bible, but the red line is if you agree in public with the Bible.”

“If the prosecutor wins at the Supreme Court, it would mean the persecution of Christians in Finland.”

Räsänen suspects that the seven-year process may be an attempt to cow others into silence. After all, if this can be done to a prominent politician, what can be done to others? “They are trying to show what could happen if you use your right to speak,” she said. “I’m afraid for some people this has already worked as a kind of self-censorship. When the case became public, I was contacted by some pastors who sent me their sermon drafts and asked: Can I say this in public, or could I also end up in court?”

I have tried to encourage people that now is the time to speak. It is not the time to be silent, because the more we are silent, the narrower the space becomes for our important freedoms. I think that one reason we have this kind of case is that the church and Christians have been too shy, too silent, to speak about these teachings that are in some way in contradiction with mainstream ideology in our society.

Despite being investigated and prosecuted for years, Räsänen radiates peace. She is supported by her husband, her children and grandchildren, and Christians around the world. “I have had, all this time, a very strong feeling that this is my calling,” she told me. “This is not in vain. There is a purpose during this process, and I have gotten so much encouragement and support that it is overwhelming and surprising for me. I have gotten a lot of joy. This has, for example, opened up so many chances to share the witness of the Gospel and Christ as the solution to our sin in our media, in front of police, in front of court.”

“I never would have had these opportunities without the prosecution. I have gotten messages from people who have told me that they have found Christ during this process when they have been listening and following the case, following my radio interview, they prayed that Jesus would come into their life. This is the right way to go, and I believe that everything is in God’s hands, whatever happens. I’m ready for anything in this case.”

UK: Former Labour mayor abused his office to try and secure visas for 41 family members and friends from Bangladesh

The former mayor is alleged to have asked embassy staff to ‘ensure a smooth visa application process’ for friends and family | X

A former Labour mayor abused his mayoral office to try and get immigration visas to bring 41 family members and friends over from Bangladesh, it has been revealed.

Councillor Mohammad Amirul Islam, is alleged to have sent “official” as well as “doctored” letters featuring the Enfield Council logo to the British High Commission in Dhaka in the hopes of the visa documents being treated “favourably”, according to The Telegraph.

Councillor Islam was elected as Mayor of Enfield in north London in 2024 but was replaced earlier this year.

In the letters, seen by the newspaper, the former mayor asked workers at the embassy to “ensure a smooth visa application process” for “good friends” and family to come to his mayoral inauguration.

A notice published by Enfield Council in August said it had received a complaint that Councillor Islam “may have brought his office into disrepute by using the Office of the Mayor to support visa applications for his friends and family”.

It said this was “contrary to the advice of officers and for reasons not connected with the borough”.

The notice read: “The committee found that Councillor Islam’s improper use of his position and the council’s resources to advance personal and private interests, particularly given his roles as Deputy Mayor and then Mayor, was damaging to the confidence of the public, in Councillor Islam himself and councillors more generally and brought the Council and the role of councillors into disrepute.”

The conduct committee concluded: “The committee directed Councillor Islam visa not to use his position as a councillor to support applications or similar nor to seek to confer any other advantage or disadvantage on any applications or similar nor to seek to confer any other advantage or disadvantage on any friends, family or associates.

Councillor Islam was required to undergo “further training on the Code of Conduct”, issue an apology and “not wear his Past Mayor’s Badge again”.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Councillor Islam – who is now an independent councillor – stood firm that he had done nothing wrong.

A Home Office spokesman said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on an active investigation, but all allegations of immigration crime are thoroughly investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary.”

An Enfield Council spokesman said the local authority was “in correspondence with Mr Islam to ensure he obeys sanctions”, adding that it “fully supports” the conclusions of the conduct committee that he had “brought his office into disrepute”.

The spokesman continued: “We expect the highest level of standards and conduct from councillors.

“We are satisfied that the committee review has addressed the concerns raised about Mr Islam’s conduct following the thorough and comprehensive investigation undertaken.”

Upon being elected as Mayor of Enfield last year, Councillor Islam said: “It is an honour and privilege to have been elected as Mayor of Enfield for the forthcoming year.

“Our borough is diverse and welcoming, and I am looking forward to promoting what makes Enfield great.”

Māori Woman Facing Jail Time After Being Reported To Police By Trans Activist For ‘Offensive’ Social Media Posts

A Māori women’s rights advocate in New Zealand is facing prison time after being reported to police by a trans-identified male for her social media posts. Rex Landy, a member of Mana Wāhine Kōrero, was arrested in December of 2024 after being targeted by a trans activist who took issue with her online commentary.

The source of the complaints against Landy is a fantasy author named Daniel Johnston, a man who identifies as “female” and refers to himself by the name “Caitlin Spice.” Speaking to Reduxx, Landy explains that she first became aware of Johnston in 2019 after she discovered that he had participated in having Broadsheet, a women’s issues magazine, suspended on Facebook.

“All they had done was post some quotes of his where he said things like ‘I am a legal female’ and boasted about being able to use the women’s washrooms,” Landy says. “They had to fight to get their account back.”

Broadsheet had warned their readers about Johnston, noting that he “delights in taunting feminists who are defending women’s rights.”

One of the offending posts that resulted in Broadsheet’s suspension in 2019.

Landy says that Johnston’s rhetoric, specifically that about using women’s intimate spaces, was triggering for her as a survivor of sexual abuse.

“That’s when I realized he could be in any toilet in Wellington, where I go, from time to time. And I got upset.” Landy explains that she later discovered Johnston had been targeting multiple women critical of gender ideology in New Zealand for insult and harassment.

While it is unclear when Johnston began to “identify” as a woman, he first started attracting attention on social media for making graphic posts about his vaginoplasty and use of women’s restrooms. On his now-deleted X (then Twitter), Johnston would frequently make comments about his post-surgical fluid leakage, dilation, and use of women’s menstrual products.

Johnston would gain popularity amongst his fellow trans activists, with many of his posts targeting women critical of gender ideology going viral in trans circles. On his social media, Johnston also spoke out against the existence of biological sex, insisting that humans can medically change their chromosomes, and fantasized about undergoing a uterus implant so that he might “give birth” to his own child.

Around the same time Johnston had Broadsheet temporarily suspended from Facebook, he was profiled in New Zealand’s Stuff Magazine, wherein he boasted about standing up to “bullies” on Twitter and portrayed himself as a victim of unrelenting transphobia.

It was through social media that Landy had increased exposure to Johnston, and began to both criticize and mock him and his behavior.

“I’ve never once spoken to him, e-mailed him, interacted with any of his accounts online, or wished him harm. Never,” Landy clarifies, acknowledging she often uses “offensive” language to get her point across. “I do not use the language they want me to use. I just laugh at these men. I tell other people to laugh at them. We need to laugh at these people – the naked emperor and his swinging balls.”

But though she hadn’t directly interacted with Johnston, Landy would soon come under his scrutiny. Johnston filed a police report, complaining about social media posts Landy had made indirectly referencing him. In mid-2022, Landy received a phone call from police concerning Johnston’s report.

“The original complaint went through five sergeants,” Landy says, emphasizing the amount of police labor that went into handling Johnston’s grievance against her.

During the call, police advised Landy that she was required to refer to Johnston as a “woman” and respect his self-declared gender identity.

“They told me I had to stop saying what I was saying. I told them I’d take that into consideration, and I said ‘good day!’ The very next day I received a written warning in the post threatening that they had enough to charge me under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015.”

In New Zealand, police are not allowed to issue formal warnings where the individual being questioned does not offer an unequivocal admission to the behavior being investigated. As a result, Landy was allowed to challenge the warning and was successful in having it dismissed. But her ordeal with Johnston was far from over.

Landy says that she noticed Johnston subscribing to her members-only Substack and following her on other social media channels. “Undoubtedly it was to keep tabs on me and stalk me,” Landy explains, noting that there have been numerous police complaints about Johnston logged by women.

In September of 2024, Landy received a court order instructing her to remove all posts she had made directly or indirectly referencing Johnston. At the time, Landy was in the midst of a family tragedy and felt unable to put up a fight against the order.

“I went and I removed them all, or so I thought. I deleted my entire Gettr profile, and I searched my other accounts for wherever I had mentioned his name and deleted them. But I missed two by accident,” Landy says.

On December 18, 2024, police raided Landy’s home and arrested her.

“They said I had failed to comply with the order because I had missed those two posts. They took my laptops, cellphones, everything,” Landy recalls. She was taken to the station and formally charged with failing to obey a Harmful Digital Communications Act order.

On September 18, just one day before she was ordered to appear in court, Landy was hit with yet another count of failing to obey a Harmful Digital Communications Act order after Johnston told police that she had subtly referenced him during a past Facebook livestream – something she says is untrue.

While in court last week, Landy was told the prosecution was not willing to entertain diversion or discharge without conviction because of her beliefs.

“They said I was not eligible because I was in the ‘grip of an ideology’ and was ‘unlikely to change my mind,’” Landy explains, rejecting the premise that a belief in biological sex is ideological. “So this is an exercise in them trying to get me to change my mind.”

She is next expected to appear in court on December 16, and faces three months in jail or a $50,000 fine. Her current bail conditions include a ban on directly or indirectly contacting Johnston.

While Landy expresses exhaustion at the process, she maintains that her spirits are high and her focus is on protecting right of women to criticize gender ideology. Landy says the issue first came on her radar in 2016, and she became increasingly concerned about its impact on women after witnessing the rise of transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard.

Hubbard rose to prominence in 2017 after beginning to participate in women’s weightlifting championships. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Hubbard’s eligibility came under public scrutiny, specifically from Samoan leaders and athletes who were concerned about their own female weightlifters being displaced by Hubbard. The next year, Hubbard won gold at the Pacific Games in Samoa, prompting backlash from the nation’s Prime Minister, who said: “No matter how we look at it, he’s a man and it’s shocking this was allowed in the first place.” Feagaiga Stowers, an Indigenous Samoan athlete, was denied Gold due to Hubbard’s participation.

Witnessing an Indigenous woman lose her athletic opportunities to a male was a turning point for Landy, who soon after became more vocal in criticizing gender ideology.

Landy is a member of Mana Wāhine Kōrero, an Indigenous women’s rights group active in criticizing the impact of gender ideology. The organization was founded by her sister, Di Landy, and Michelle Uriarau. On their website, the organization states that its mission “seeks to protect, preserve and uphold the mana of WāhineTamariki and Māoritanga from 4th Industrial Revolution developments such as gender identity, transgenderism, transhumanism and dehumanisation which distorts and misrepresents our Reo, our Whakapapa, our Tikanga and our Tipuna.” The group’s name translates to Sovereign Women Speak.

“We are, as far as we know, the only Indigenous group fighting gender ideology today. We are engaged in a battle for our culture,” Landy says. “The rich Māori at the top, who claim to speak for all of us, are just grifters who go along with it. They say things like ‘we have transvestites in our culture, in our genealogy,’ and to them I say: If any man cut his dick off 200 years ago, he wouldn’t be my ancestor, would he?”

“In our culture, women are te whare tangata, which means the house of the ancestors. Only women give birth. Only women can do the karanga, only women can call out to the spirits. Māori know what a woman is.”

On the outcome of the case, Landy makes no predictions but expresses optimism.

“Win, lose, or draw – he’ll never be a woman,” Landy says with a laugh. “I’ve already won. I’m a woman, he isn’t.”

New York: German woman killed, husband hospitalized after alleged hit-and-run by Mohammed Abouzaid, who may have been in the US illegally

Screengrab youtube

While Germany has been rife with violent migrant crime, 50-year-old Alexandra Sabine Lewalter Maric and her husband, Udo Lewalter, 55, probably thought they would be safe from such things in New York City. Maybe a pickpocket or rude New Yorkers.

Instead, the couple ended up as victims of Mohammed Abouzaid, 40, a driver without any license who recklessly ran over them in his 2001 Toyota Sienna in midtown Manhattan and then took off at high speed.

Lewalter Maric was killed on the spot, nearly decapitated by being run over, while Lewalter was rushed to the hospital to have a severed finger reattached and a skull fracture treated.

The couple had been in New York to celebrate their 23rd anniversary and had just returned from a Virgin cruise up the East Coast. Lewalter Maric had worked at Apple Retail Germany for the past 14 years, according to info from her LinkedIn profile, while Lewalter was a journalist for Computer Bild.

Mohammed Abouzaid had only a learner’s permit when he backed up “at a high rate of speed” into the couple at a crosswalk, crashing into a parked box truck and leaving Lewalter Maric pinned under his minivan, reports the New York Post.

The perpetrator was arrested just an hour after the crash. According to an ongoing investigation, he had been living in his car, had been residing in NYC for some two years—but the New York Post writes it is “unclear” if the man was in the country illegally.   That’s when he struck the couple at the crosswalk, pinning the woman under his vehicle, and also hit a box truck stopped at the light, according to sources and a criminal complaint.

Manhattan Criminal Court has arraigned Mohammed on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Bail was set at $25,000 or a $75,000 bond.

“He was living out of the car he was driving, that caused this accident, specifically killing one person, and the other hospitalized with a skull fracture. The defendant fled the scene after he hit a pedestrian,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Courtenay Cullen told Judge Janet McDonnell, NYP reports.

“I want to point out that he did show signs of not exercising due care,” Judge McDonnell said. “He must have known that he crashed into a truck, and he did drive off at a high rate of speed in a crowded intersection, which can be defined as reckless, killing someone.”

In his defense, Mohammed Abouzaid’s court-appointed public defender said the accused had “specific reasons” for driving off after the crash, including because “he was scared, he panicked, he doesn’t have insurance.”

“He was caught at a box in an intersection, what he attempted to do was back up, he attempted to back up, and he hit a truck as he was trying to back up. Pedestrians were moving between his car and the truck. He doesn’t have insurance,” he said, asking the judge not to place Mohammed in jail.

Further charges have not been ruled out as the investigation is ongoing.

According to a statement from the German Consulate, cited by the New York Post, “The injured person is being looked after by the consulate general.” The consulate was unwilling to provide any further details on the case.

Slovakia amends constitution to ban surrogacy and homosexual adoption, recognize only two sexes

The nation of Slovakia has rejected European Union legislation by amending its constitution to enshrine recognition of only two sexes, ban the practice of surrogacy, and restrict adoption to heterosexual married couples.

By doing so, the Slovak nation of 5.4 million people has asserted the primacy of its own laws over those of the EU and taken a strong stand in defense of the family and Christian morals. The amendment states that Slovakia retains sovereignty in matters of “national identity,” especially regarding “fundamental cultural-ethical questions.”

“The Slovak Republic recognizes only two genders, namely male and female, which are biologically determined,” states the amendment that won approval in the nation’s parliament on Friday.

The amendment also establishes that only married couples can legally adopt children, making it impossible for homosexuals to adopt. A Slovakian amendment passed in 2014 defines marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman.

The amendment, which political observers predicted would fail, narrowly passed with the required three-fifths majority – 90 votes of the 150-seat council – after 12 conservative opposition lawmakers joined the ruling coalition.

Parental consent is now also required for students to participate in sexual education.

When the amendment was first published in late January, Slovakia’s nationalist Prime Minister Robert Fico echoed President Donald Trump’s inauguration speech, “There are two sexes, male and female,” defined at birth.

He further asserted an imperative to champion “the traditions, the cultural and spiritual heritage of our ancestors,” to construct a “constitutional dam against progressive politics,” and restore “common sense.”

President Peter Pellegrini indicated that he would sign the amendment.

“At a time of enormous division within Slovak society, a constitutional majority is an important signal that there is agreement on a specific issue across the political spectrum, and it must be respected,” said Pellegrini after the vote.

In a fiery speech at CPAC Hungary 2025 in May, Prime Minister Fico emphasized that he would continue upholding the country’s traditional Christian family values.

In the May 29 speech, Fico stressed that the essence of Slovakia has been built on hundreds of years of traditional Christian family values, specifically, the ideas that marriage is between a man and a woman and that there are only two genders, and he will work to uphold these sacred values. The prime minister has a long history of affirming Christian family values and opposing globalism.

After underscoring that he doesn’t want Slovakia’s national identity to “melt away” in favor of the liberal values promoted by the European Union (EU), Fico highlighted the Christian values that make up the country’s national identity.

“I certainly do not intend to sacrifice the essence of Slovakia, which is based on more than a thousand years of Christian tradition, (with the) traditional family as a fundamental component of our society,” the prime minister said.

Keir Starmer’s England: One with Nineveh and Tyre

AI generator

By Civis Americanus

The BBC reports, “Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper says she has warned Israel not to annex parts of the West Bank in retaliation for the UK’s recognition of Palestinian statehood.”  Somebody needs to break it to Cooper, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, that the wishes and opinions of the long-gone British Empire no longer matter.  The U.K., if its people continue to tolerate the likes of Starmer and Cooper in their government, needs to be viewed by its allies as an old friend who is very sick and is not going to get better.  Britain is now, as predicted by Rudyard Kipling long ago, is “one with Nineveh and Tyre.”

Far-called our navies melt away,
On dune and headland sinks the fire,
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!

When Kipling wrote this poem, his country ruled a good part of the known world.  The British Empire made English almost a universal international language, and its legal system prevails in most of its former colonies, but that is all.  Its massive body that once consisted of India, Australia, and almost all of North America is long gone, and all that remains is the head plus a few scattered possessions.  There is even talk, through Scottish secession, of dividing the head itself.  Britain was indeed a world leader when Winston Churchill was in charge, but he is long gone, as is Margaret Thatcher.  What is left is similar to a duke’s or earl’s decaying mansion and estate, both of which are in disrepair for lack of funds.  The duke or earl still has his title of nobility, but he simply no longer matters.

The Fall of the British Empire

The disintegration of the British Empire can be attributed to two factors: (1) disrespect for its stakeholders and (2) the exhaustion that comes from trying to rule the world.  The latter is a good reason for the United States to reduce its overseas commitments, which are expensive and put our men in uniform at unnecessary risk.  Much of our national debt is due to our status as an empire without benefits.

The first factor became apparent during our War of Independence, which was caused by Britain’s treatment of British subjects as “colonials” to be milked dry for the enrichment of the Home Island.  Americans were, for example, prohibited from manufacturing anything of major complexity so that industrialists in England could sell us shoddy manufactured goods in exchange for raw materials — a classic form of colonial exploitation.  George Washington was among the disgruntled customers, and the rest was history.

Next we come to the human and economic costs of maintaining an empire.  Britain’s history has, for centuries, consisted of enlisting working-class men whose alternatives to service involved debtor’s prison, starvation, the workhouse, or some combination thereof.  They were then sent off to die from disease or enemy action in places whose names end in “pore” (as depicted by Kipling’s “Shillin’ a Day”).  The survivors were then discarded to the streets and the workhouses, again as depicted by “Shillin’ a Day” and “The Last of the Light Brigade.”  In “The Widow’s Party,” the soldier who narrates the story is carried from the field in a stretcher while half his company lies dead, all for a cause he does not even understand.  Most of the conflicts were for the benefit of England’s aristocrats rather than the actual safety and rights of British subjects, although some of the aristocrats, who provided the officer class, also took their chances.

During the First World War, Britain took men from Australia and threw their lives away at places like Gallipoli, as depicted by Sabaton and also Eric Bogle.

Then a big Turkish shell knocked me arse over head
And when I woke up in me hospital bed
And saw what it had done, well I wished I was dead
Never knew there was worse things than dyin’

British generals, who were infamous for ordering their soldiers to attack dug-in German machine guns and executing for “cowardice” those who faltered, turned to populous India for even more cannon fodder.  When we combine this with Britain’s exploitation of India, it comes as no surprise that India seceded after the Second World War.  This is not to say that British rule did not have positive effects because it abolished suttee (widow-burning) and Thuggee (ritual murder by followers of the goddess Kali).  It also left behind a national language and rule of law as opposed to the whims of local rulers.  Nonetheless, the latter reference reports, “the economic exploitation orchestrated by the British left an indelible mark on India’s socio-economic fabric.”

You Broke It, You Fix It

When the British departed from India, they left behind one of their typical colonial messes — namely, a series of armed conflicts between India and Pakistan.  The current mess in the Middle East is also primarily of England’s making, because its government defrauded Jews and Arabs alike during the First World War.

In general terms, the correspondence effectively traded British support of an independent Arab state for Arab assistance in opposing the Ottoman Empire. It was later contradicted by the incompatible terms of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, secretly concluded between Britain and France in May 1916, and Britain’s Balfour Declaration of 1917.

Promising the same thing to two or more parties is commonly known as fraud, and the onus is on the U.K. to make it right.  Note that Jewish Palestine (see the July 24, 1922 map) as promised by the U.K. includes everything “from the river to the sea,” which entitles Israel to annex Gaza, Judea, and Samaria to make good the U.K.’s bargain with the Zionists.  It is also up to the U.K. to make good its bargain with the Arabs by paying them reparations and compensation.  Israel’s response to Starmer’s recognition of “Palestine” should accordingly be, “You broke it, you fix it.”

Imagine Starmer’s chagrin when Arabs wake up to the fact that Britain, rather than Zionists, gave them a raw deal and that the Zionists will be more than happy to help them get redress at the U.K.’s expense.

Remember the Lusitania

Keir Starmer’s recognition of a Palestinian state at Israel’s expense should meanwhile result in public relations consequences that include ongoing recitations of the U.K.’s aforementioned fraud against the Arabs and Jews, its colonial messes in general, and also its de facto manslaughter (or worse) of 128 American citizens on the Lusitania in 1915.  No, this is not a conspiracy theory that suggests even remotely that anything other than a German submarine launched the fatal torpedo.  The Lusitania was, however, carrying munitions that had no purpose other than to kill German soldiers, and that made the ship a legitimate target just as Hamas makes schools, hospitals, and mosques into targets by using them to house combatants and weapons.  It was the U-boat’s commander’s duty to prevent the Lusitania’s murderous cargo from arriving in Britain for transfer to the Western front.

In summary, nobody asked Keir Starmer or Yvette Cooper for advice on how Israel should deal with Hamas, so both need to sit down and shut their blattering mouths.  When we add that their own country was directly responsible for most of the trouble in that region today, that is an added incentive for them to remain silent and keep their meddling hands out of the situation.

Climate Protest Calls for Violence Against “the Old White Men”

Future for Fridays demonstration in Berlin, 20 September 2025
Screenshot from video, @jakob.blasel on Instagram, 20 September 2025

The violent rhetoric of a climate demonstration held in Berlin on Saturday, September 20th, has led to a request for a parliamentary inquiry, at the initiative of Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) MP Markus Matzerath.

During the protest, organized by ‘Fridays for Future,’ calls for violence—including incitement to murder—were openly displayed and, alarmingly, echoed by prominent figures. One protester brandished a sign reading ‘BURN THE OLD WHITE MEN,’ in a stark example of the radical tone permeating the event.

The rally, held under the slogan “Exit Gas—Enter Future!” attracted environmental activists, Green Party supporters, and elements of the left-wing extremist scene. Notably, Jakob Blasel, head of the German Green Youth, was among those promoting the event, which has since seen widespread sharing of photos and videos across Green Party channels. In one of the videos, posted by Blasel on Instagram, the sign calling for murder is clearly visible in the front row of the demonstration—yet neither the Green Party supporters participating in the demonstration nor the ones sharing it on social media have appeared to take offense.

In a post on X, AfD MP Markus Matzerath asks whether “the calls for murder” were known to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and adds,

Numerous Green Party politicians, Green Youth officials and state associations, as well as Bundestag member Max Lucks, liked Blasel’s post. They honored the call for murder with a heart for “Like”.

The initial text of paragraph 130 of the German Criminal Code (incitement to hatred) states:

Whoever, in a manner capable of disturbing the public peace, incites hatred against segments of the population or calls for violent or arbitrary measures against them; or assaults the human dignity of others by insulting, maliciously maligning, or defaming segments of the population, shall be punished with imprisonment from three months to five years. The same applies to anyone who publicly or in an assembly, disseminates material or makes it available to the public, that incites hatred or violates human dignity as described above.

Asked by news outlet Nius why they had failed to intervene, Berlin police stated that they would not take action against the call for violence and referred to a prior court ruling determining that “old white men” does not represent a national or ethnic group. However, this decision did not concern a call for murder, but rather the phrase “Old white men stink,” which the court classified as a vulgar but permissible slur. When pressed by Nius on whether murder slogans represented a more drastic case, the police spokesman said the matter would be reviewed again.

The Green Party’s acceptance and promotion of radical left-wing rhetoric is cause for serious concern. Green Youth spokesperson Jette Nietzard has previously made alarming remarks, suggesting that political violence could be seen as legitimate should AfD come to power.

Political violence in Germany has seen a dramatic rise, with 2,210 criminal offenses targeting members of Bundestag parties recorded in the first half of 2025—a 165% increase compared to the previous six months. While words are not violence, and freedom of speech should be the right of citizens of a free society, the German criminal code, frequently used against right-wing personalities and politicians as well as irate pensioners, appears to be conveniently ignored when it’s the Left doing the insulting.

‘Meloni Like Kirk’: Death Threat Against Italian Prime Minister Attributed to Pro-Palestine Activists

Police are investigating after an apparent death threat was daubed onto the wall of a Turin railway station during an hours-long occupation of the interchange by anti-Israel activists, the latest manifestation in a days-long action by Antifa and other left-wing groups in support of Palestine.

The Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni said she was honoured to be compared with assassinated political activist Charlie Kirk after Palestine protesters wrote “Meloni: Come Kirk” [‘Meloni: Like Kirk’] on the wall of Torino Porta Susa station in Turin.

The threat is particularly insidious given Italy’s long history of political violence including the ‘Years of Lead‘, which has been particularly acute by general European standards over the past half-century, and the recent political assassination of Charlie Kirk in the United States. Police are investigating the signal, reports Corriere Torino.

Meloni herself disregarded the implied threat. She said in response: “They wrote it as a threat. But those who live on hatred and intimidation will never be like Charlie Kirk, because they do not know the value of dialogue, confrontation, and democracy.”

The Prime Minister said she felt “pride” in being compared to Kirk and said those who promised violence “will always remain prisoners of violence. We will continue to walk free, strong in our ideas.”

Regional politicians in the Turin area decried the threat. Alberto Cirio, President of the Italian state of Piedmont of which Turin is the largest city, said: “The blockades in Turin , the damage, and the threats against Prime Minister Meloni, to whom I extend my full solidarity, are unacceptable. Everyone is free to peacefully express their opinions, but this can never go beyond respect for the rules and the law.”

His deputy, the Vice President of Piedmont said the threats were cowardly and an affront to the whole Italian political system. She said: “Calling for the death of a political opponent is not dissent: it is barbaric. And it is an insult to millions of citizens who believe in freedom and the strength of democracy. Anyone who thinks they can affirm an idea through hatred has already condemned it to defeat.”

The scrawled message came during an occupation of the Turin station by protesters attempting to shut down the city. Hard-left activists had declared a “general strike” in Italy on Monday in protest against the government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni refusing to join with other nations like the United Kingdom and France in recognising a Palestinian state.

As earlier reported, over 60 police officers were injured in the first day of the protests in Milan, as Antifa radicals stormed city rail station and smashing them up, deliberately attacked police, and rioted. Songs of “it will be Intifada here too” were heard in the city. A regional politician said “troublemakers” were hijacking public sympathy for people in Gaza to “commit the usual acts of pure and simple violence.”

Days later, it was Turin’s turn to feel this ‘general strike’ called by the left. Platforms of the Porta Susa were blocked to prevent trains entering the station which caused “significant disruption”.

A Berlin magistrate praises an Israel-hater for her hatred

Most recently, Yasemin Acar (38), a self-confessed Israel hater, repeatedly chanted ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ in public in Berlin between February 17 and July 24, 2024. She was acquitted for this. She was only punished for attacking police officers and defamation. For this, she received a penalty of 120 daily fines of 15 euros each (1,800 euros in total). Already in the courtroom and then on the street, she celebrated the outcome of the trial with like-minded people. Following an appeal by the public prosecutor’s office, the case and the acquittal have now been referred to the regional court.

But the most surprising thing so far is that Judge Philipp Berkholz from the Berlin-Tiergarten District Court, who is obliged to remain impartial, had previously said during the trial: ‘I have great respect for what you are doing. You probably speak for a lot of people. You stand by what you have done.’

Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor is appalled: ‘Anyone who stands shoulder to shoulder with terrorist sympathisers, who attacks police officers and cheers Iranian missile attacks deserves many things, but not respect. Burkard Dregger, justice and police expert in the Berlin House of Representatives: ‘This is not the way to deter copycat crimes. Volker Beck, head of the German-Israeli Society, is calling for consequences: ‘Showing respect to a defendant who insults police officers and chants slogans calling for the destruction of Israel disqualifies this judge.’ Neither Federal Minister of Justice Stefanie Hubig (SPD) nor Berlin’s Senator of Justice Felor Badenberg (CDU) wanted to comment to the newspaper B.Z. Both referred to judicial independence.

In the meantime, retired judge Thomas Walther has filed a disciplinary complaint against Judge Philipp Berkholz. However, nothing has happened so far.
