Israel blasts Spanish Prime Minister for ‘inciting pro-Palestine mobs’ in Madrid

Israel’s Foreign Minister has accused the Spanish Prime Minister of “inciting” the “pro-Palestinian mobs” which interrupted a top cycling race.

In a post on social media, Gideon Sa’ar, the Israeli politician, said the Pedro Sanchez had “encouraged demonstrators to take to the streets”.

He added: “The pro-Palestinian mob heard the incitement messages – and wrecked the ‘La Vuelta’ cycling race.

“Thus, the sporting event that had always been a source of pride for Spain was cancelled.”

The final stage of the Vuelta a Espana cycling race was abandoned after the protesters knocked down barriers and entered the course in the centre of Madrid.

This year’s Vuelta had already been disrupted multiple times by people protesting against the Israel-Premier Tech team.

Jose Manuel Albares, the Spanish Foreign Minister, claimed he was in favour of banning the Israeli team, and said he understood protesters not wanting to allow Israel to participate in global events “as if nothing were happening”.

However, he stressed the decision to expel the team was not in the Government’s hands who had “no say in the team’s participation”.

However, he stressed the decision to expel the team was not in the Government’s hands who had “no say in the team’s participation”.

Mr Sa’ar also accused the Spanish leader of “expressing regret that he didn’t have an atomic bomb ‘to stop Israel’.”

It is believed this was a reference to a speech from September 8 during which Mr Sanchez said his country does not “have nuclear bombs, nor does it have aircraft carriers or large oil reserves”.

He added that Spain therefore “cannot stop the Israeli offensive”.

Mr Sanchez has been a vocal critic of the Israeli military operations in Gaza in recent years following Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attack, and last year his country recognised the state of Palestine.

Earlier this week, Spain introduced new sanctions on Israel, including a permanent weapons embargo.

In response, Mr Sa’ar called the Spanish Government “antisemitic” and accused it of using a “hostile anti-Israeli line” to “distract attention from serious corruption scandals”.

Two members of the Mr Sanchez’s cabinet have been barred from entering Israel, due to their alleged “support for terrorism and violence against Israelis”.

One was Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz, who appeared to celebrate the protesters disrupting the cycling race.

She posted on social media: “Spanish society does not tolerate the normalisation of the genocide in Gaza at sporting and cultural events.

“Israel cannot participate in any event.”

It is believed approximately 100,000 people continued to protest in Madrid and clashed with police.

According to Francisco Martin, the Government Delegate in Madrid, at least two people were arrested, and 22 police officers were injured.

Isabel Diaz Ayuso, the Madrid Regional President and a member of the centre-right People’s Party, said the Prime Minister had done “damage to our sport and our country”.

UK: Transgender Child Sex Offender Linked to Prosecution of Graham Linehan for Social Media Posts

A litigious trans-identified male previously convicted of the sexual abuse of a minor was spotted attending the court case against comedy writer Graham Linehan, prompting speculation that he has been offering legal advice to the complainant in the proceedings. Stephanie Hayden, formerly known as Anthony Halliday, was recorded leaving the Westminster Magistrates’ Court September 4 alongside the teenage trans activist, Sophia Brooks, who brought the charges against Linehan.

Linehan, who is well known as the creator of popular sitcoms such as Father Ted and The IT Crowd, appeared in court last week to defend himself against charges of harassment without violence and criminal damage under £5000. The allegations date back to October 2024, when, the court was told, Linehan harassed Brooks on social media before damaging his phone after a Battle of Ideas conference in Westminster.

On X that month Linehan called Brooks a “deeply disturbed sociopath” and a “domestic terrorist” who was “behind countless episodes of harassment of women and gay men both online and off.” During recent court proceedings, Linehan refused to back down, saying, “He was misogynistic, he was abusive, he was snide.”

Reduxx has seen a dossier of evidence detailing Brooks’ sustained harassment which includes statements from six individuals in addition to Linehan. According to the document’s summary, Brooks has engaged in a variety of malicious behavior and has “doxxed several individuals, publishing private addresses and personal details with the intent to incite harassment and fear.”

The dossier outlines how Brooks has created false identities to infiltrate groups, engaged in relentless cyberstalking, and falsely accused individuals of crimes, including fabricating claims of sex offenses against one victim by manipulating online profiles.

A statement from women’s rights campaigner Venice Allan explains the events leading up to the altercation at the Battle of Ideas conference, and describes Brooks as a persistent source of harassment.

“Sophie initially came to my attention when he infiltrated a group I was involved in, pretending to be a female de-transitioner, while actually being a trans activist. Over the years, Sophie’s behavior became increasingly concerning,” Allan said.

“On several occasions, he would call me from withheld or strange international numbers, sometimes even having others speak on his behalf. These calls often involved Sophie making demands that I remove tweets or make public apologies, and the tone was frequently erratic and aggressive.”

During the Battle of Ideas conference, Allan said Brooks stood up and began taking photographs of attendees. His behavior “became increasingly intrusive” and “he pointed a camera directly into people’s faces,” and security was called to remove him. Brooks had been accompanied to the event by an older trans activist known as Freda Wallace, who has spoken publicly about his “lesbian penis,” and the two apparently have a relationship based on coordinated harassment campaigns.

After the conference had ended, Brooks approached Linehan outside the venue and began to record with his phone while taunting him. After Brooks made a derisive remark about his divorce, Linehan grabbed his phone and threw it into the road.

During an interview at Charing Cross Police Station conducted on February 5, Linehan stated, “there was repeated harassment by Tarquin of numerous people, including me. That typically involves placing a phone immediately in front of someone’s face, only a few inches away, and filming them whilst trying to provoke a reaction.”

“I had tried to ignore Tarquin as far as possible, but was then confronted by Tarquin again at the end of the conference. I presume that Tarquin was frustrated at not having been able to get some form of reaction from me, despite the repeated harassment. Tarquin then made a provocative statement about my current family position.”

“The nature of trans activism is that it is very male,” Linehan told the Magistrates court last week. “It’s abusive, it’s sadistic. The police are basically working for trans activists these days. They don’t understand the issue and they believe everything trans activists say to them. A lot of institutions have been captured by trans ideology.”

Leading up to the altercation, Brooks had developed a reputation within the London women’s rights community for turning up to various events critical of gender identity ideology. His repeated harassment of women at events has been documented on multiple occasions, with some tracking his disturbing behavior back as much as three years. In particular, Brooks would attempt to disrupt events put on by Let Women Speak and by the LGB Alliance, a habit which earned him the nickname “Tarquin” last March – a mocking nickname for a young and privileged man.

In October 2023, Brooks, then about 16 years old, was filmed at a LWS event accompanied by Wallace. The two men can be seen walking through Hyde Park with a speaker while playing, on loop, a recording of violent trans activist Sarah Jane Baker yelling, “If you see a TERF, punch them in the f*cking face!” The acronym stands for “trans exclusionary radical feminist” and is often used by trans activists as a slur to incite violence against women.

Baker, previously known as Alan, is known for being the UK’s longest serving trans-identified prisoner, having spent 30 years incarcerated for multiple violent crimes. Baker was initially sentenced to 9 years for kidnapping and torturing his stepmother’s brother, but, while in prison, he received additional time for attempting to murder a cellmate. Yet despite his criminal background, London Metropolitan Police refused to investigate him after he called for violence against “TERFs” during a 2023 Trans Pride rally in London.

One event attendee, who shared the footage of Brooks and Wallace playing Baker’s threat on loop, said that the teen had called her “pathetic,” and that the two men “repeatedly circled women attendees like sharks.”

On multiple occasions, Wallace and Brooks have harassed women who criticize gender identity ideology, with their preferred tactic involving placing their phones near an individual’s face and shooting video while antagonizing them. Brooks has also been accused of conducting prank calls, targeting women associated with LWS events.

Women’s rights activist and LWS lead organizer, Kellie-Jay Keen, shared details of her own experience of being harassed shortly after she attended Linehan’s hearing last week, while indicating that she believes Brooks was behind some of the harassment.

“For seven years I’ve been subjected to harassment, stalking, threats, and terror,” Keen wrote. “Graphic text messages about my children dying. Descriptions of my daughter’s bedroom. Dozens of calls in the early hours, including seven times on Christmas Day. Photos of my children being shared. Men turning up at my events to scream abuse at me. Threats that I would be attacked, terrified, and made to pay. A wish that I had been attacked with acid.”

“For most of this abuse, the evidence appears to point to one individual,” she continued. “I do not have the power to confirm that beyond doubt, but I have provided all the evidence to the police, and they do know who he is. An individual with close ties with much older deviants who have an unhealthy interest in children. They all behave in a provocative way in the hope of a response, a response they can use against you to destroy your life.”

Prior to Linehan’s hearing, concerned individuals had noticed Brooks and Hayden interacting on several occasions on X. In one instance, Hayden appears to be mocking Linehan in advance of the upcoming hearing, and has tagged in Brooks under his account @SanrioKeys.

As previously confirmed exclusively by Reduxx, Hayden pleaded guilty in 1999 to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy he met through the internet.

According to court records and archived news reports reviewed by Reduxx, Hayden was found guilty of abusing the boy on at least two occasions in 1997, meeting with the victim and proceeding to “kiss and touch him” before driving him back to his parents’ house. Hayden accepted two charges of indecent assault in 1999, and was ordered by Judge Gerald Clifton to pay a £600 fine and to register as a sex offender for five years following the verdict.

During court proceedings, Judge Clifton remarked: “I’m told he was willing. Had this been a case of you seducing a boy and indulging in oral sex with him then whether he consented or not, whether in private or not, a short sentence of imprisonment would have been necessary.”

In addition to his repeated legal complaints against those critical of gender ideology, Hayden has raised concern amongst some users on social media due to a past post on notorious pedophile Jimmy Savile.

In 2012, just after the scandal surrounding Savile shook the United Kingdom, Hayden posted to X: “So what if Jimmy Savile was interviewed by police? Was not charged or convicted of anything. Due process does not die with suspect!”

But Hayden’s past criminal conduct, which includes another violent offense, has largely become obfuscated by his vocal trans advocacy. While Hayden previously identified as a gay man, he began transitioning in 2017 and has subsequently become a key proponent of pro-trans policy in the United Kingdom.

Hayden’s experience as a self-styled lawyer has enabled him to utilize the courts to silence those he accuses of “transphobia,” and he has gained a self-confessed reputation for being particularly litigious.

Hayden has initiated legal action against more than two dozen individuals over the years, often in an apparent effort to prevent them from referring to him as a “man,” or quashing speculations regarding his past criminal history.

On October 1, 2018, Hayden launched Britain’s first “deadnaming” case in London’s High Court against Linehan in response to an article he had authored exposing Hayden’s real name as Anthony Halliday.

Within days, Linehan was phoned at his home by police. Recalling the encounter to Reduxx, Linehan compared the officers to “gangsters” doing Hayden’s bidding. He stressed that it was not an official warning and was not formally recorded. Despite this, The Guardian published an article which leaned heavily in the favor of the convicted sex offender, and, as Linehan says, ultimately opened the floodgates for his public cancellation.

Referencing the situation, Linehan recently pointed out that Hayden has continued a years-long harassment campaign against him, including doxxing and publishing his home address.

As also noted by Linehan, Hayden has been following Brooks’ case against Graham for months. In May, Hayden alerted his followers of the date and time of the first hearing, and commented that Linehan was innocent “unless and until convicted.”

Commenting on the connection between Hayden and Brooks, renowned author J.K. Rowling remarked that their apparent relationship was alarming. Referring to Brooks, she said on X, “an apparently vulnerable youth hanging out with a convicted child sex offender raises red flags,” and reminded her followers of Hayden’s previous conviction for child sexual abuse.

For reporting on Hayden’s criminal background, Reduxx has also been threatened with legal action by the trans activist. After an exchange with the Liverpool Crown Court, Reduxx was able to obtain a court record verifying Hayden’s conviction for sexual abuse.

Since releasing the information in August 2023, Hayden has obtained a copy of the email exchanges between Reduxx and representatives of the court. For over a year, he has attempted to convince court officials that the certificate of his conviction was obtained illegally. Legal claims have been made against Reduxx editor-in-chief Anna Slatz, seeking an overturning of the decision to release the conviction certificate and a payout for damages.

Hayden has also emailed Reduxx staff in an attempt to intimidate lead investigative journalist Genevieve Gluck while accusing her of having “misled the Crown Court” in order to obtain the court record.

Speaking to Reduxx, Linehan said that despite his litigious harassment of over a dozen individuals, Hayden “appears to be untouchable.”

“Part of the problem is that the police seem to have him in a ring of protection. He never faces consequences for his actions. He’s allowed to taunt, torture, and torment his victims at his leisure. The Surrey Police seem especially enamored of him, and take part in his harassment campaigns.”

Hayden has repeatedly published claims of personal interactions with Surrey Police. In 2022, he claimed that law enforcement called him at his home to inform him of an arson threat, and added: “Surrey Police also informed me that they had made immediate contact with the Metropolitan Police (my local force) to inform them of the situation and request that a marker be placed against my home address to ensure a priority response if the need should arise.”

Germany’s Free Speech Crackdown: AfD Thuringia State Chairman Björn Höcke Fined $35,000 for Saying “Everything for Germany”

,

In Germany, free speech is under siege, and the latest victim is Björn Höcke, the chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD)’s Thuringian state branch. Höcke, a true patriot fighting for his nation’s self-determination, achieved AfD’s inaugural first-place finish in a state election.

Höcke was slapped with fines totaling around $35,000 for simply uttering the phrase “Alles für Deutschland” – “Everything for Germany” – in public speeches.

The ruling parties in Germany have been weaponizing the judicial system against the AfD, and this latest outrageous ruling from the Federal Judicial Court seeks to silence patriots who dare to put their country first.

Höcke’s troubles began in 2021 when he ended a rally speech in Merseburg with the words, inspiring crowds with a call to national pride. Prosecutors claimed the slogan echoes Nazi-era, leading to his first conviction and a €13,000 fine in May 2024.

He faced a second trial for a 2023 event in Gera, where he prompted the audience to complete the phrase, resulting in another €16,900 penalty.

The slogan “Alles für Deutschland,” however, has deep roots in German history. Originating in the 16th century, it became a rallying cry in the 19th century for national unity during the Unification Movement.

King Ludwig I of Bavaria famously used it in an 1848 proclamation, declaring “Everything for my people! Everything for Germany!” to inspire his people during revolutionary times.

The Nazis later co-opted the phrase as the paramilitary SA Storm Division’s motto, engraving it on daggers and belts, which is the basis for the judicial ruling against Höcke, despite the fact that Social Democrat and Christian freedom fighters were using the slogan in opposition to the Nazi Party.

Post-World War II, during the Marshall Plan era, the slogan returned to symbolize dedication to national recovery amid economic revival.

Yet, the slogan gradually became restricted under laws against unconstitutional symbols. These laws have been slowly weaponized to wage lawfare against opposition figures like Höcke.

Germany’s anti-free speech laws stifle debate in ways unimaginable under our First Amendment. While U.S. populists can proudly say “Make America Great Again” without fear, Germans like Höcke are fined for expressing their love for their nation.

Höcke is not backing down and has offered a powerful message to the people of Germany: “We want a free world, and we want to move into the future as free people. And arguing for it, fighting for it, and sometimes even suffering for it, is worth it, despite everything.”

Höcke vows to fight on for a sovereign and free Germany. His supporters now chant “Alles für Höcke!” in defiance of the globalist regime that wants to stomp out the free expression of the German people.

AfD Makes Huge Gains in Western Germany — Nearly Triples Support in Local Elections

The conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is continuing to make gains across the country.

The AfD secured nearly 15 percent of the vote in North Rhine-Westphalia, placing third, according to preliminary results reported by Politico.

That marks a sharp rise from the 5.1 percent it received in the state’s last municipal elections five years ago.

“A huge success: According to initial projections, the AfD’s result in NRW has tripled,” AfD leader Alice Weidel wrote on the X platform.

”Heartfelt thanks to all campaigners and to our voters!”

In Gelsenkirchen, once a hub of heavy industry, the AfD’s candidate is expected to advance to a mayoral runoff against a center-left rival.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) maintained a clear lead, winning about 33 percent of the vote.

Its coalition partner, the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) — historically dominant in the region’s industrial cities — followed with roughly 22 percent.

Both parties’ tallies were slightly lower than in the previous municipal vote.

In February’s federal election, the AfD captured 20.6 percent of the vote, finishing second overall and achieving the strongest showing ever for a far-right party in postwar Germany.

Its performance was driven by sweeping victories across nearly all of the former East German states.

Since then, support for the AfD has continued to grow, even as Germany’s left-wing intelligence agencies classify it as an extremist organization.

Meanwhile, the ruling parties have even threatened to ban the party altogether on the grounds that it represents a threat to German democracy!

Last month, a national poll found that the AfD’s overall support had surged to some 26 percent, which would make it the most popular party in Germany and give it the power to potentially form the next government.

Rap Duo Bob Vylan Mock Killing of ‘Piece of Sh*t’ Charlie Kirk, Call on Fans to Find and Attack ‘Fascists’

Wikimedia Commons, Stefan. Bollmann, CC BY-SA 4.0

British punk rappers Bob Vylan mocked the death of Charlie Kirk during a performance in Amsterdam on Saturday, during which they reportedly called on their fans to attack “fascists” and “zionists” on the streets.

The rap-rock duo, who courted controversy in June by leading a chant of “death to the IDF” (Israeli Defence Forces) during the Glastonbury music festival in England, doubled down on their radical rhetoric at a sold-out show at the Paradiso concert club in Amsterdam.

Taking to the stage, singer Bobby Vylan (real name Pascal Robinson-Foster) joked, according to Amsterdam’s De Telegraaf newspaper, “Are there any snipers in the hall?” in an apparent reference to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was gunned down during a student debate event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Vylan went on to say, “I want to dedicate this next song to a real piece of shit human being, pronouns: was/were. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk, you piece of shit” before adding, “If you chat shit, you will get banged!”

Continuing the diatribe, the rapper is quoted by the paper as saying: “Sometimes you have to kick Nazis in their fucking face… Fuck the fascists, fuck the Zionists. Go find them on the street!”

The Dutch daily also reported that Vylan criticised the anti-mass migration/free speech rally held in London on Saturday, organised by Tommy Robinson, and said that his music is intended to inspire a “revolution”.

The duo, with Palestine flags flying, played their song featuring the infamous chant ’Death, death to the IDF!’ three times during the performance, with the singer quipping that he had recently become enriched by the controversy.

British police launched an investigation into the band after Vylan led the crowd at Glastonbury in the chant. Following the concert, the band were dropped by their management team and had their visas revoked to the United States by the Trump administration.

After the assassination of Kirk this week, the U.S. State Department warned foreign nationals that those “who glorify violence and hatred” will not be welcome in the country.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said in a statement: “I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action.

“Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention so that the [State Department] can protect the American people.”

Coach travel segregated by gender: journey from Berlin to pro-Palestine demonstration draws criticism

Screengrab youtube

A call for a large pro-Palestinian demonstration in Düsseldorf has sparked debate on social media. According to the organisers, ‘Germany’s largest demonstration’ is to take place in North Rhine-Westphalia on September 27. The gathering is intended to show solidarity with the people of Gaza, but also with those in Congo, Sudan and ‘all oppressed peoples of the world’.

On Instagram, the account ‘freedomaktivist’ has posted information about the possibility of travelling from Gesundbrunnen district of Berlin to Düsseldorf in specially hired coaches. Two details have attracted criticism.
In addition to details such as departure times and costs, there is also a note stating: ‘Women and men sit separately – for a relaxed and peaceful journey.’ There are also supposed to be WhatsApp groups separated by gender. The person to be contacted regarding the WhatsApp groups can no longer be found on Instagram under a linked account.

There is a lot of criticism in the comments below the post. “I understand the idea behind separate seating, as violence often comes from men, but I have two questions. Is it enough for people to self-identify their gender? This raises the question of how to deal with trans women and trans men. The second question I have is, how do you deal with non-binary people? Are they simply allowed to choose, or what concept do you have in mind?‘ asks one user. ’This is how some people imagine freedom: women and men must sit separately,” reads another comment.

A few hours after this article was published, these negative comments were no longer visible under the Instagram post. Only three comments from two users remain – two of them from a female user who writes: ‘Cool’ and ‘That’s a good idea’. One negative comment, albeit only an hour old, still appears under the post: ‘Are you all out of your minds? Women and men separated? What’s with this medieval crap? We also protest against patriarchy.’
Recently, gender-segregated events at universities have repeatedly sparked debate. During an ‘Islam Week’ at the University of Kiel, women and men were required to use separate entrances to the lecture hall. Men sat at the front and women at the back. In addition, videos were published by the Muslim university group at Charité Berlin showing the sexes apparently sitting separately in the lecture hall and seminar room: the men on one side, the women on the other. Charité subsequently banned events where men and women were to sit separately.

Independence is Britain’s only hope of survival

Screengrab youtube

By Robert Arvay

Irony of ironies, the British government, which oppressed its American colonists to the point of revolt, is now doing the same on its own island.  English law, which provided the foundation for our own laws and our own freedoms, including freedom of speech, is now being used to suppress and silence British patriots.  Britons are now literally put in prison for expressing opinions that in America are taken for granted as a protected right.  Offending a pervert in Britain is a serious crime.

The oppression stems from unrestricted immigration, especially of Muslims, who share nothing with classic British liberal values, not in language or culture or common law.  Worse yet, whereas Britons remain underserved in return for the excessive taxation and regulation that Parliament imposes on them, their Muslim guests receive luxurious accommodations at taxpayer expense.

Muslim law, which blames non-Muslim women if they are raped by Muslim men, has found its way into British courts, where the rapes of small children and British women are treated as a minor misbehavior — and the rapes are reaching near epidemic proportions.  Bear in mind that Muslim law, as practiced by Muslims, does not recognize any rights of any non-Muslim.

These evils are not sufferable, and British blood is beginning to boil.

So, then, why have not the British people risen up, as did our American forebears 249 years ago?  Why have they not declared independence?  There are three reasons.

One of them is that Americans, unlike the British then and now, are armed.  We had not only muskets, but cannon.  Our private citizens continue to have guns, and our courts have repeatedly reaffirmed our right to do so.  In Britain, the government recognizes no right to own or carry a weapon.  Its citizens are deliberately kept disarmed.  Self-defense is looked upon with contempt by lawmakers who are afforded armed guards for their own safety, paid for by the citizens who are denied that right.  A disarmed citizenry is extremely vulnerable and incapacitated.

The second reason is that there remain enough indoctrinated British voters to continually return to elected office the rulers who oppress them.  Fifty percent of voters, plus one voter, is all it takes.  Where open dissent is outlawed, it is easy to find those voters, either afraid or ignorant.

The third reason is the one I consider the most important.  It is the English flag.  No, I am not referring to the beautiful British Tricolor, which we see in James Bond movies.  The flag of England is much simpler, but its symbol is far more powerful.  It is a plain red cross, its two red stripes running top to bottom and left to right on a white background.  It has become a symbol of resistance, it is decried as a hate symbol by many in Parliament.  Muslims hate it, as it is inspired by the English patron saint, George, Christian warrior.

Millions of Englishmen have taken to fastening this emblem on lampposts around England, and the British government has taken to ripping them down — only to see them immediately reinstalled by the resistance.

Although England is only one part of Great Britain, exclusive of Scotland and Wales, the resistance has expanded to the Anglosphere countries of Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, and, to a small extent, Canada.

More than that, many people in non-English-speaking countries in Europe are also expressing outrage at excessive Muslim immigration.  Even some Japanese have demonstrated.

Why do I, a non-Briton, exhort our British elder brothers to display the English banner?  Actually, my reasoning is not the banner itself, but rather that it is a symbol of Christendom.  Christendom used to refer mostly to medieval Europe, but more recently to all areas of the world where Christianity has a substantial following.  One might even include Israel on that list.

Christianity is not, however, merely a political or national symbol.  It is the firm and life-changing belief that Jesus is the Risen Savior.  As Saint Paul affirmed, if Jesus is not the Risen Savior, if He was not raised from the dead, then all of Christian faith is false.  If He is the resurrected Son of God, then belief in that fact fills the believer with the Holy Spirit, with truth, and with the resolve that come what may, he will do his utmost to serve the Lord, even unto martyrdom.

I urge the English people, all of Britain, and all the world, and today in the lasting memory of our most recent martyr, Charlie Kirk, not only to display the Christian symbol in whatever form it may take, but to come to the foot of the Cross and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

No force of Earth or Hell can prevail against that.

France: The Populist Hour Strikes

Having just ended its ninth month in office, French Prime Minister François Bayrou stepped down after the National Assembly endorsed a no-confidence vote by a huge majority. That handed President Emmanuel Macron a hot potato in the shape of naming yet another Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, the outgoing Defense Minister of the Armies, the fifth in just two years, with no certainty that he would be the lucky fifth.

Macron is in a hurry because he wants to fly to New York to settle the Ukraine war, ensure recognition of a Palestinian state, solve the Iranian nuclear problem, and offer a master plan for rebuilding Lebanon and Syria.

Meanwhile, the French have reverted to their classical response to political crisis by taking to the streets, sabotaging railway lines, looting luxury shops and, of course, flying-picket strikes across the land.

Talk of a general strike is making the rounds, with a whiff of revolution polluting the autumn air.

Because the French political vocabulary is full of military terms such as “combat,” “resistance,” “siege” and, of course, “revolution,” the narrative of current events might sound more awesome than it need be.

Seasoned politologue Roland Cayrol says: “The French system is paralyzed.”

Other commentators suggest that France needs an institutional “revolution.” The hard-left coalition of New Popular Front leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon, in a meeting with a Palestinian flag waving behind him, calls for “the abolition of the Fifth Republic and the foundation of a Sixth Republic,” casting himself as savior.

“France needs a savior,” says a senior European diplomat here, worried about the damage that the French crisis might do to the European Union.

Finding itself like a headless chicken since the Great Revolution, France has always been looking for a savior.

Distinguished historian Jean Garrigues says the abolition of monarchy left a huge hole in the French national life that two empires, two restored monarchies and five republics haven’t been able to fill.

Macron agrees, and has for years hoped to fill that hole by insisting that the buck always stops with him, giving critics the excuse to dub him “Jupiter.”

Is France today in a populist mood and looking for a savior?

At first glance, the key conditions for the rise of populism are easily detected.

The first is when the base challenges an elite which, rightly or wrongly, is perceived as incompetent, corrupt and out of touch with “the real people,” whatever that means. As a longtime observer of French politics, I can claim that none of those charges sticks.

But so what?

In politics, perception is often stronger than reality.

The second condition is a sense of exclusion by a significant segment of society. We say that about the “Yellow Vests” movement that drove France to the edge of revolution a few years ago. Again, those who claimed to be “excluded” were in fact rather well-to-do provincial bourgeois who chose to exclude themselves.

The third condition is the structural weakness of political parties, whose presence is needed if a democracy is to function properly.

That condition may well be present in France today, as traditional governing parties have shrunk to narrow coteries.

The next condition, also present, is the dislocation of constituencies.

Part of Communist and other radical left voters have shifted to the radical-right camp, with the National Rally party of Marine Le Pen in the lead. A segment of the left has moved towards the traditional authoritarian right, idolizing Vladimir Putin and adopting anti-Semite positions with the Palestinian “cause” as an excuse.

In a populist context, those competing for power have an interest in exaggerating the problems, spreading fear of the future, nurturing resentment against “the other,” notably old or new immigrants, and envy against “the rich.”

The biggest fear that the populists of both right and left try to spread, so far with some success, is that of reforms that might threaten the “acquired social benefits” such as early retirement and long holidays.

The silver bullet that killed Bayrou’s government was the plan to cut annual holidays, by just two days, to cover part of the budget deficit. Lurking in the background was the government’s refusal to cut the retirement age by two years to 62, while populists campaign for retirement at 60.

People usually make revolutions to bring about change. The French, in their populist mode, however, beat the drum of revolution to prevent change.

The irony in all this is that French democracy — its imperfections not withstanding — has always triumphed over populism but ultimately failed to translate its victory into solid institutions.

Some French democrats may be making the same mistake today that they made when they rallied around wannabe saviors.

Other aspirant democrats are suggesting a variety of solutions, including proportional representation elections and a return to shaky governments under the Fourth Republic.

The real challenge is to fill the hole that Garigue and to some extent Macron have detected in the heart of the Fifth Republic, a system that is neither fully presidential nor parliamentary.

Tailor-made for General Charles de Gaulle, the system worked well as long as the French regarded the president as a savior, first from the Second World War defeat and then from the challenge of costly colonial wars in Indochina and Algeria.

The Fifth Republic also worked because François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac managed it from strong electoral coalitions. Under Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, those coalitions disintegrated, pulling the president into the cesspool of cheap political battles.

Switching to a Rhenish political system with proportional representation, coalition-building and parliamentary compromises could take years to adapt to and could be discredited with the inevitable initial bumps on the road. The alternative is a full presidential system, partly modeled on that of the United States.

One thing is certain, however: France’s problems won’t be solved by riots, strikes and what is known in French as jacquerie.

Import Libya, Become Libya

Greece is currently flooded by illegal Muslim migrants from Libya and other Muslim-majority nations. It is thus significant to ask what kind of a culture Greece, and the rest of Europe, is importing by receiving these migrants en masse. The way Christians in Libya are treated gives a clear answer.

On April 15, a Libyan court sentenced eleven Christians from a Muslim background—nine Libyan men, one Libyan woman, and one Pakistani man—to prison terms ranging from three to 15 years on charges that include “insulting Islam” and “insulting religious sanctities and rituals using the internet.”

Six of those Christians were reportedly arrested in 2023 for converting to Christianity and proselytizing. The authorities tried to use torture to force them to recant their faith. A U.S. citizen was also arrested by Libya’s Internal Security Agency (ISA) and was expelled from the country following accusations of proselytizing.

In another Libyan incident, a Christian convert from a Muslim background received a death sentence over “apostasy” in 2022. The convert was reportedly required to publish the verdict in a local newspaper and on a local radio station, as well as display it outside his residence and the court. He did not have legal representation during the proceedings. He is imprisoned while his case remains pending with the Supreme Court.

Since the collapse of the state following the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi in the 2011 revolt, Libya has become one of the most dangerous places in the world for Christians. It ranks fourth on the World Watch List, created by Open Doors, an organization that monitors global Christian persecution. A fragmented country of 7 million with different groups exercising control over different parts of it, Libya today is an international battlefield, where a Turkish-Qatari-Pakistani Islamist axis is competing with the Emirati-Saudi-Egyptian axis for influence. The internationally recognized Government of National Unity (GNU) in charge of western Libya is rivaled by the Government of National Stability (GNS) that controls eastern Libya. Radical Islamic groups are mostly connected to the internationally recognized government in the West, although there are also radical elements among the Eastern parties. Such groups are responsible for the most violent forms of persecution and act with absolute impunity. In recent years, some of these groups have become increasingly part of the institutions because their leaders now hold official positions within both governments.

Regardless of which government authorities or local radical militia are in charge in a given area, Christians are persecuted. No church anywhere in the country can accept converts. Almost all expatriate Christian workers have left the country, and the main Christian groups who remain are Sub-Saharan migrants and some Egyptian Coptic Christians.

Both the 2011 interim Constitutional Declaration and the draft 2016 Constitution declare Islam to be the religion of the state and Sharia as the primary source of legislation.

According to the criminal code, insulting Islam or Mohammed is punishable with the death penalty. This means, therefore, that the few remaining churches must operate carefully. They cannot invite or accept visits from Muslims to church services. In addition, atheists and anyone who publicly questions Sunni Islamic doctrine are also very much at risk of being targeted.

Bringing Arabic Christian literature and Bibles into Libya is strictly forbidden.  Proselytizing or missionary activity among Muslims is officially prohibited. If suspected of being interested in Christianity, a Libyan woman can face house arrest, sexual assault, forced marriage, or even death, according to Open Doors. Women who experience sexual violence because of their faith, sometimes as a form of punishment, encounter social and cultural barriers to the prosecution of any offense.

Christian converts can be harmed or murdered with impunity when attacks are carried out by family members, who consider the matter one of ‘family honor.’ But Christians can also be killed with impunity by both radical groups and government officials.

Islamic teaching influences all school curricula. Even international schools must follow the Islamic curriculum. The children of Christian migrants, if they go to school, must attend Islamic instruction and are vulnerable to harassment.

Militias and local ruling groups maintain checkpoints to monitor all those entering their territory. Being visibly recognizable as a Christian brings risks in Libya. Wearing a cross or, like Egypt’s Copts,  having a tattoo of a cross on the wrist or arm, can be dangerous.

Some Christian converts even keep their new faith hidden from their children for fear that the children might accidentally reveal it. Christians in Libya are heavily monitored by their local communities or by private groups. Converts and expatriate Christians alike avoid many parts of the country and tend to live in urbanized areas where secrecy and anonymity are more possible.

Not only converts to Christianity will experience pressure to recant their faith. At times Sub-Saharan migrant Christians are forced to convert to Islam or do so to protect themselves. Those who do not give up their faith are likely to be singled out for persecution or even killed.

Several Sub-Saharan African Christians were kidnapped for ransom, while others held in detention centers in Libya were reportedly raped and beaten.

Slavery and human trafficking still take place despite an international outcry in 2017 when CNN showed video evidence of an auction of Sub-Saharan Africans, many of whom are Christian.

Several church buildings and other places of Christian worship, mostly belonging to Sub-Saharan African Christians, have been attacked, demolished, or damaged. In 2022, the Union Church of Tripoli received a court order to leave the building it had used for more than fifty years. Hence, there are few church buildings in the country.

But even those churches and buildings used as churches remain a vulnerable target for attack, especially by radical Islamic groups. Even the few registered church buildings cannot display religious symbols on the outside walls, since the public display of Christian symbols is considered to be an indirect form of proselytization and can attract serious punishment from the authorities—or even lead to a public lynching.

Before Islam, however, Libya (known as Libye to the Greeks) was a land of diverse peoples and cultures, which included the Berbers, Phoenicians, Jews, Greeks, and Romans. It was a crossroads of civilizations, with Phoenician settlements in the west, Greek city-states in the east, and periods of Carthaginian, Persian, and Roman rule.

Libyans have been among the wider Christian community since the incarnation of Jesus, with Christianity becoming established in ancient Libya during the Roman era. Libya had a vibrant Christian population for at least five centuries, during which time the country “produced a wide variety of key players from early martyrs to great thinkers to arch heretics.” Some of the early converts to Christianity were from Cyrene in Libya and were active as lay missionaries (Acts 11:20), like Simon of Cyrene. The country’s historic sites include early examples of Christian places of worship and baptismal pools. However, the church in Libya was almost wiped out in the decades following the arrival of Islam in the seventh century. Arab Muslim armies invaded the land and captured it from Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Greeks. That is when the Arabization and Islamization of Libya began.

Today, it is difficult to get reliable statistics on any religious community in Libya. There are probably no Jews at all, and some estimate that there are around 35,000 Christians left, the overwhelming majority of whom are migrant workers.

The extreme persecution against the tiny Christian community in Libya is reason enough why Islamic migration from Libya and other Muslim nations to Europe must be stopped. Otherwise, if we import Libya, we will become Libya. If you import Islam, you will, sooner or later, be conquered by Islam.
