Iran announces fresh campaign reintroducing moral police to force women to wear hijab

On 16th July, the Iranian government reintroduced mandatory hijab for women with moral police back on the streets. Notably, for months, the moral police were away following the death of Masha Amini in September 2022. Amini was picked for not wearing a hijab and later killed in custody. The authorities announced a new campaign forcing women to wear Islamic headscarves in public following that.

In early 2023, Iranian authorities launched a heavy crackdown on the protesters, virtually ending the protests against the mandatory hijab. Reportedly, 500 protesters were killed, and over 20,000 were detained by the police during the protests.

On Sunday (17th July) evening, following the reports of attempts to arrest the women without the hijab, thousands of protesters gathered in Rasht, northern Iran. According to Iran International, thousands of people were there at the protest after the moral police whisked away three women. The onlookers rescued them, and there were unverified reports of tear gas and gunshots.

In December 2022, there were reports of moral police patrolling the streets, but the authorities denied it. There were claims that the moral police was disbanded, but the government denied it amidst the protests.

Police spokesman Gen Saeed Montazerol Mahdi said in a statement that moral police would resume notifying and then detaining women if they were found without hijab in public. Masih Alinejab, one of the most prominent Iranian activists currently living in the United States, shared a video of a woman being threatened and beaten by the female moral police.

She wrote, “This is Iran today, and this is how the morality police arrested a teenager for not wearing a hijab. Mahsa Zhina Amini was taken away like this and then killed. Where are those journalists who excitedly reported the cancellation of that morality police?”

Death of Mahsa Amini and anti-hijab protests

Iran saw a wave of protests after a 22-year-old girl named Mahsa Amini died in the custody of Iran’s Morality Police that detained her for improperly donning her headscarf. Several Iranian citizens hit the streets in solidarity with Amini. In support of the victims, a number of women, including schoolgirls, burnt their hijabs, and women everywhere chopped their hair in protest. Protests broke out in hundreds of places around the nation after her death.

Young woman jailed for three years in Poland for anti-LGBT protest granted early release

Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro has condemned a court decision taken by a circuit judge against a young woman who was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for stealing a rainbow-colored bag as a protest against LGBT ideology.

The woman in question was convicted of violent assault and theft, which carries a minimum of a three-year jail sentence. The value of the bag, which in the end was not stolen anyway, was just over €3.

Ziobro said that it was, in fact, the young woman known as Marika who had been the victim of a judicial assault that took away her freedom for political and ideological reasons. He added that the case showed a communist mentality was returning to Polish courts by which people were to be locked up for political and ideological reasons.

The minister has decided to grant the young woman a suspension of her jail term, stating that she has now been set free and is awaiting a presidential decision on a pardon. Marika’s offense was committed in August 2020.

She had already spent one year in jail. Serving her sentence has made it impossible for the young 21-year-old to get the physiotherapy she needs for her to recover from a broken ankle.

Zbigniew Ziobro has promised that he would be taking action against the prosecutors involved in the case and will also be reviewing the way the court presided over the matter. He concluded that the whole episode was evidence of a crisis in the Polish judicial system and a gross miscarriage of justice.

Racial Preferences, Charter Schools, and the Teachers Unions – What happens when you compare affirmative action with charter schools?

On June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a university’s consideration of race in accepting students violates the U.S. Constitution. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, explains that the admissions processes at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina violate the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. The 6-3 decision saw the three liberal justices dissent.

In addition to being unconstitutional, affirmative action has not worked out well in the real world. Only 42% of black students nationally graduate college within six years, which is far below the 66% rate for white students.

As Jason Riley writes in City Journal, racial preferences are counterproductive. “They mismatch students with schools that recruit minorities for window dressing and then fail to graduate them in a timely manner or in the majors they initially wanted to pursue. Many bright black students who could have graduated from Xavier with a degree in engineering were instead lured to Duke, where they struggled academically, perhaps switched to a softer discipline, or simply flunked out. The upshot has been fewer black mathematicians, lawyers, and physicians than we would have had in the absence of race-based admissions.”

It’s worth noting that affirmative action was never meant to last forever. When the policy was first implemented in the 1960s, it was assumed that gaps in educational achievement between black and white Americans would eventually shrink, thereby rendering racial preferences unnecessary. Along these lines, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wrote in 2003: “We expect that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today.”

Needless to say, the left was delirious and then some over the SCOTUS decision. Leading the wackadoodle parade was union boss Randi Weingarten, who has never been shy about wearing hysteria on her sleeve. “Make no mistake: Today’s draconian ruling by the Supreme Court is a catastrophic decision that will have dire outcomes for millions of Americans for decades to come. This decision ignores the original sin of this country—it’s a throwback to a cruel, racist past that admissions policies like this tried to repair. This decision doesn’t simply end affirmative action, it has huge consequences for public life far beyond higher education. Ignoring the facts before them, the majority pretends that both discrimination and the effects of discrimination simply do not exist and do not need to be tackled.”

Another jaw-dropping comment came from David Hinojosa, an attorney who argued in defense of affirmative action at the SCOTUS hearing. In an interview with the National Education Association, before the decision was announced, he was asked, “Whatever the ruling is, how do you think NEA members can help preserve and expand opportunities for students of color?”

Hinojosa responded, “First and foremost, they need to continue providing a great education to students in public schools.”

Therein lies the real problem. If students were actually receiving a “great education” in k-12, affirmative action or any other ploy to avoid using merit as a tool to get into college would not be necessary. And the greatest impediment to getting a great education is the teachers unions.

Said unions have been very successful at keeping incompetent teachers from being fired. Instead, inferior teachers simply move from school to school. The so-called “dance of the lemons” sees the lemons primarily dancing in inner-city schools. And importantly, the unions are front and center in trying to stop any kind of parental choice in education. But there, thankfully, the unions are beginning to lose their grip.

According to the EdChoice dashboard, as of April 23, there were 12 states with education savings accounts (ESAs), 26 voucher programs in 15 states, and 25 tax-credit scholarship programs in 21 states. And in May, ten states moved positively on school choice.

While the private option for parents is increasing at a great rate, what can they do if they don’t live in a state with a private choice law?

The main escape route then becomes charter schools, which are independently operated public schools of choice that aren’t shackled by the litany of rules and regs that traditional public schools (TPS) are encumbered by and, importantly, are rarely unionized. Unlike traditional unionized public schools, which constantly clamor for more money, if charters are failing, they are actually held accountable. Regularly, they must gain the approval of their authorizing body, and, most importantly, they must please their customers – children and their parents. If they don’t do a good job, they cease to exist. Additionally, charters must abide by all state and federal laws, civil rights statutes, safety rules, standard financial practices, etc. At this time, there are 3.7 million kids enrolled in 7,800 schools in 45 states and D.C.

How do students in charters fare compared to those in TPS?

In June, the results of a blockbuster study conducted by Stanford University’s Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO, were released. As described by Kevin Mahnken in The 74, the study focused “on charter school performance in 29 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and New York City, incorporating standardized test scores between 2015 and 2019. All told, over 80 percent of tested public school students were included in CREDO’s data set. More than 1.8 million charter students were each paired with a ‘virtual twin’ (i.e., a nearby pupil possessing similar demographic traits and prior test scores) enrolled at the district school that the charter student otherwise would have attended.”

Overall, charter school students experienced an additional 16 days of learning in reading and six days of learning in math compared to their TPS counterparts. Black students averaged 35 days more growth in reading and 29 days in math.

In New York State, charter students were 75 days ahead in reading and 73 days in math compared with their TPS peers. In Illinois, they were 40 days ahead in reading and 48 in math. In Washington State, 26 days ahead in reading and 39 in math.

Here in California, the results were also considerable, especially for charter management organizations. As EdSource’s John Fensterwald notes, when compared with similar students in district schools, “students in Los Angeles-based Alliance College-Ready Public Schools gained the equivalent of 107 days in additional learning, about 40% of a year. Students in Bay Area-based Rocketship Public Schools gained three-quarters of a year in additional learning days in math, based on CREDO’s methodology.”

The teacher union-orchestrated school shutdowns were a boon to charters. The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools released a study that found that during the first full year of the pandemic in 2020-21, there was a 7% increase in charter enrollment (240,000 students) and a 3.5% decrease in public district enrollment (nearly 1.5 million students).

Of course, the teachers unions despise charters because, to a great degree, they are not unionized. But they won’t admit that. Instead, they and their toadies grouse that charters “siphon off millions” from “public schools.”

But as Fordham Institute president Mike Petrilli notes, this is a fallacy. In fact, he writes that a study shows that “host districts’ total revenues per pupil actually increased in most states as the percentage of local students who enrolled in charter schools rose. Certainly, that was the case in California, where a 10 percentage point increase in the percentage of students attending charter schools that were authorized by counties or the State Board of Education (after being rejected by the host district) was associated with a 5 percent increase in host districts’ total revenue per pupil and a 4 percent increase in their instructional spending per pupil.”

The unions also gripe that charter schools “cherry pick” their students. But this is also a lie. A study by Fordham Institute’s David Griffith examined the “relationship between ‘charter market share’ and the academic achievement of all students in a given community, including those in traditional public schools.” Griffith found that, in general, the district-level evidence suggests that the charter advantage is not attributable to “cherry-picking” or “creaming” the best students. He adds that “there is no evidence that charters have a negative effect on the performance of traditional public schools” and “expanding charter market share in black and Hispanic communities could dramatically reduce racial achievement gaps.”

SCOTUS made the right decision in killing off affirmative action. While educational problems still plague the country, there are fixes available. But first, we need to rein in teacher union power, which is a formidable obstacle.

Sweden announces latest crackdown on immigration rules as new government seeks to dissuade new arrivals

Sweden’s Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard.

The Swedish government on Thursday announced plans to tighten the requirements for family immigration in an attempt to make Sweden a less attractive destination for asylum seekers and reduce the number of new arrivals into the country.

The new proposals are also backed by the right-wing populist Sweden Democrats who keep the Moderate-led coalition in a majority through a confidence-and-supply agreement. One measure would raise the age for when the government can refuse a residence permit for a spouse or common-law partner from 18 to 21 to deter young migrant couples and prevent forced marriages.

“This corresponds to the highest age limit allowed under EU law,” said Swedish Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard who claimed “a paradigm shift is now being implemented in Swedish migration policy.”

The government also proposed limiting the issuance of residence permits on humanitarian grounds, which would remove the possibility of granting permits to children and certain adults in particularly distressing circumstances.

“The proposals aim to reduce the number of asylum seekers who apply to Sweden,” Sweden Democrats’ Party Secretary BĂ€ckström Johansson told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. He later told a press conference that “the government and the Sweden Democrats continue to stand up for stricter migration legislation.”

The new Swedish government, voted in last September, was a significant swing to the right and has already made great strides in tightening immigration in line with voters’ wishes. The Sweden Democrats offered its support to the government on the sole basis that immigration into the country be reduced.

“We will be a change watchdog,” Sweden Democrats MEP Charlie Weimers told U.K. media shortly after the election. “We will make sure that action is actually taken to control migration, an area where the previous government utterly failed, and that we actually start to implement reforms to fight crime.

The government first encouraged migrants who have failed to integrate into Swedish society to leave voluntarily, ensuring them they would have the financial means to leave Sweden should they wish to back in March. However, they then introduced harder-hitting policies to bring the numbers down.

Starting in October, the minimum wage threshold required for migrants to obtain a work visa in the country will be hiked as well to further dissuade new arrivals.

Migrants wanting to come to Sweden to work will need to secure employment with a salary of 26,560 Swedish krona (€2,347.15) per month, more than double the current requirement of SEK 13,000.

Critics among the liberal benches in Stockholm’s parliament claim the plans announced on Thursday risk violating the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Convention on Human Rights, an argument the Swedish government rejects.

Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard insists the proposals are in full compliance with international obligations and will promote greater integration among the currently divided societies that co-exist, particularly in Sweden’s major cities.

UK: We Beat Them on Covid and We Will Stop Them on Transgenderism, Says My Son Hunter Star Laurence Fox

screen grab https://ok.ru/

The people stopped the attempted globalist takeover during the Chinese coroanvirus and they will rise up against the tyranical trasngenderism movement, Reclaim Party leader Laurence Fox said.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart London, Laurence Fox, the star of My Son Hunter and the leader of the anti-woke Reclaim Party, said that he believes that the age of transgenderism will go down in history similar to the McCarthy era and will be seen as a “strange blip” in history.

“We stopped them on COVID. They thought that we’d all have vaccine passports by now but we don’t. And we’ll stop them on the transgender stuff because there’s enough of us that don’t want it to happen,” he said.

Fox, who is running for Parliament to replace Boris Johnson in the former PM’s vacated Uxbridge seat in north London in the by-election on Thursday, has become a leading voice against the far-left LGBTQ2A+ movement in Britain.

The actor-turned-political campaigner explained that while he supports tolerance, acceptance, and love, he feels that the ideas of the increasingly radical pride movement have become incorporated with seemingly unrelated far-left ideologies, pointing to the ever-evolving ‘Progress Pride’ flag as an example.

“Suddenly they start throwing a Black Lives Matter chevron on the flag. What’s that got to do with you have sex with, who cares? And then it’s got a brown one for anyone who happens to be brown, from Mongolia to Manitoba. It doesn’t matter. You’re just brown, sorry, which to me seems racist to me,” Fox said.

“And then you’ve got the child mutilation part of it, in the transgender part, which is basically really homophobic anyway, because it’s saying you’re just in the wrong body, you’re not attracted to the same sex, and they’re doing this stuff to children.”

The Reclaim Party leader argued that the leftist lurch of the LGBTQ2A+ movement has ultimately done a lot of damage to average gay and lesbian people in how they are viewed by society.

“They have captured a movement that everybody in a civilised society should get behind, which is supporting gay lesbian rights,” Fox said, adding: â€œThat’s why I set fire to that flag. Because that flag is a homophobic and racist flag.”

The most pressing issue for Fox, and the Reclaim Party, however, is the impact that the ideology has had on children. For Fox, it is a personal issue, with two young boys currently going through Britain’s woke education system, where anti-straight white male rhetoric is becoming more and more prevalent.

In order to combat the extremist ideologies being taught in British schools, Mr Fox’s campaign group, the Bad Law Project, is preparing to sue the allegedly Conservative government over claims that the Department of Education is failing to safeguard children from far-left sex lessons from third-party providers hired by schools.

The planned legal action from the Bad Law Project, which was announced during a House of Commons event on Thursday, will represent multiple families who claim that their child had suffered medical or psychological harm as a result of being indoctrinated with radical theories about sex and gender.

Bad Law Project lawyer Anna Loutfi  told The Epoch Times that they believe the Department of Education has “totally failed” to maintain “safeguarding policies because teaching and promoting gender ideology, the idea that you’re born in the wrong body is promoting self-harm amongst children, and now it’s reached levels of social contagion.”

Mr Fox told Breitbart that there is a growing “rage in this country at what’s being taught to our children in schools” and that the material being permitted to be taught to children is “horrifying to parents”.

Poland: Police intervene at a municipal swimming pool to stop the crowd from lynching four migrants suspected of sexually abusing several children

Facebook

A distressing incident unfolded at the municipal swimming pool on WrocƂawska Street in Bytom on Saturday, 15 July, around 5 pm, as a group of individuals was reportedly involved in an altercation with several male foreigners. According to police reports, the group was accused of displaying socially unacceptable behavior towards minors, which has sparked outrage among local residents.

Commander Anna Lenkiewicz from the Bytom City Police Station confirmed that they received a report of inappropriate conduct by the group towards underage children, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The detainees, identified as four Georgians, were allegedly involved in an assault on the children, with one of them being approximately 50 years old.

The situation quickly escalated as residents attempted to take matters into their own hands and retaliate against the suspects. However, the police intervened, preventing any further escalation of aggression. During the confrontation, gas was used by the officers to disperse the crowd.

As a result of the incident, the police detained four individuals suspected of engaging in pedophilic behavior. The suspects’ ages range from 18 to 48, and they are reportedly foreigners.

Commander Lenkiewicz mentioned that investigations are ongoing, and they are working closely with the prosecutor’s office to determine the appropriate charges for the detainees.

The Bytom city council also responded to the incident, revealing that security guards stationed at the swimming pool received two reports. The first report came from two boys who claimed to have been accosted by an approximately 50-year-old man, while the second report was from the mother of a girl using the pool. The girl informed her mother about an unsettling encounter with one of the suspects.

In response to the reports, the vigilant security guards immediately intervened and escorted the suspects out of the pool area before contacting the police.

All four detained men are Georgian nationals, ranging in age from 18 to 55. Police have secured CCTV footage from the pool area to aid in their investigation.

The incident has raised concerns among the local community, highlighting the importance of ensuring the safety and security of children in public places. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any additional information that may assist in the investigation.

The defenders of Gaza and French revolts are silent on massacres of Christians – or blame them on climate change

https://www.fdesouche.com/

by Giulio Meotti

The West that feeds on Third Worldism, decolonization, the myth of banlieues and “Black Lives Matter” does not care about the genocide of Christians, indeed it even tries to deny it. For our NGOs, UN, media and governments, the killers do not shout “Allahu Akbar”, but “we want a carbon free world”.

But what about the last 150 Christians killed. “Some Christian victims were burned alive in their homes”, refers the Motning Star.

Now a Nigerian bishop raises his voice condemning the Islamic persecution and “Western propaganda”. Bishop Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe of the diocese of Makurdi, Nigeria, said: “If you saw the video, you would cry. They came and slaughtered everyone”. “They say it’s about climate change; this is not true,” he stated. Explaining that the goal of making Nigeria an Islamic state began in the 1980s, Anagbe said what is happening in the country today is a result of the program outlined then by Islamic leaders. “In 1989, there was the Abuja Declaration that Nigeria should be established as an Islamic state; this is what we are seeing today”.

50,000 Christians have been massacred in fourteen years in Nigeria. In just one Nigerian state, Benue, 591 Christians killed in 140 attacks since the beginning of the year. But from the president of Ireland (a former Catholic country), Michael Higgins, to Amnesty International and the US State Department, our Ă©lite cites climate change as the cause of the persecution of Christians.

While gun attacks in the United States always make headlines, very few of our media outlets carry the facts, stories, and numbers of Christian genocide. Why in the West are the defenders of Gaza terrorists, the singers of good intentions and the fanatics of the fight against “Islamophobia”, so silent in the face of the crimes committed by Muslims against Christians?

Commissioner UN human rights officer Volker Turk criticized Israel for its counter-terrorism operation in Jenin, a city from which most of the Palestinian bombers come. It is useless to seek Turk’s condemnation of the bloodbath of Christians.

Jumping off the Pont Mirabeau, the great poet Paul Celan said: “La Shoah n’est plus l’affaire des Juifs”. The genocide of Christians is definitely not our media’s business.

Climate change at fault? If there were no hurricanes, no melting glaciers, no polar bears wandering alone and the African desert was a field of flowers, would there be fewer murdered Christians? They have blamed capitalism, inequality, depression and now the climate. Everything except Islam. As in the burbings in France: the police, the discomfort of the suburbs, Algeria, never the rejection of the West or Islam.

Tens of thousands of simple Christians killed or a girl burned alive do not deserve the slightest protest march or communication campaign. We must believe that only Europe’s denunciation of racism, Israel and “police violence” is worthy of Western emotion.

If only these Christians lived in a Parisian suburb, were decolonized Muslims rather than Christians colonized by Islam and were called Nahel instead of Deborah, the girl burned alive because she was a Christian in Nigeria, dozens of people attacking her body, setting it on fire among shouts of joy and devotion to Allah. So yes, as they used to say, they would “enjoy good press”.

Germany: Police detain dangerous Islamist man carrying a case filled with weapons

screen grab youtube

Major police alert: During a routine check at the main railway station, a German-Afghan was caught with a weapons case. A short time later, heavily armed police stormed his flat. The State Criminal Police Office is investigating.

The police briefly confirm the incident at the main railway station and a search of a flat. The federal police, however, do not give any further details, but refer to the press office of the state police.

The newspaper BILD reports that the man is known to the police and is considered a dangerous person. He is said to be a religious extremist and was caught by chance. The federal police carried out a major weapons check at the main railway station at the weekend, with more than 100 officers on the spot. More than 600 travellers were checked.

At 11.15 p.m., the man with the suitcase was noticed at the main railway station. Not far from the railway tracks, Hafez A. (20) was arrested by federal police officers, at the height of the so-called Fischerturm. From there, the underground and suburban trains as well as the long-distance trains go to the station.

Inside the man’s suitcase: two machetes, a hatchet, several knives, a prepared pair of scissors, a telescopic baton!

Handcuffs were applied and he was arrested! The suspicion: Was Hafez A. on his way to an attack? In the past, even the Federal Criminal Police Office is said to have dealt with the 20-year-old.

Emergency meeting, the public prosecutor’s office was informed. The decision: Flat search. A large contingent of heavily armed federal police rushed to the south of Hamburg. The dangerous man’s flat is located in the Hausbruch district, about 18 kilometres from the main railway station.

Police officers with machine guns ready to fire surrounded the apartment building and broke open the door of A.’s flat at around 5 o’clock.

BILD learned that storage media and another telescopic baton were seized. The evaluation of the USB sticks and the hard drives is ongoing.

The dangerous person carrying the weapons case is to appear before a magistrate.
