Orbán: ‘Dwarfs want to put pressure on an energy giant’

The EU is targeting Hungary again. Brussels has now cleared the way for massive financial sanctions against Budapest as a tit-for-tat for Hungarian foreign policy, which includes strict neutrality on the issue of Russia sanctions and continuous gas supply contracts with Gazprom.

The EU Commission agreed on Sunday to block EU payments amounting to around 7,5 billion euros since the money is not safe from “misuse” in Hungary, explained Budget Commissioner Hahn. Just recently, a resolution was passed in the European Parliament with a majority of left-wing and green MPs accusing Hungary of no longer being a “democracy”.

The Hungarian government under Viktor Orbán has not contested this move. Orbán instead again criticized Brussels’ course on energy. It is absurd that “dwarfs want to put sanctions under pressure on an energy giant,” said the Hungarian head of government during a visit to Serbia.

Hungary’s gas storage depots are full, Budapest has also negotiated additional supply guarantees with Gazprom, and the price of petrol for Hungarian citizens has been reduced to 1,18 euros per liter.

Energy dwarfs sanctioning a giant

Against this background, Orbán declared during his visit to Serbia, during which he was awarded a medal by President Vučić: “The stronger impose sanctions on the weaker. But if you look at the energy realm, you see that we, as dwarfs, are now imposing sanctions on an energy giant,” which is a completely unusual phenomenon in history.

“These new sanctions hurt us a lot, so they are bad and painful for us, they cost us a lot of money, and they also threaten a significant part of the gains we have made over the past decade.”

The head of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Marcel Fratzscher, came to a similar conclusion. He told the Reuters news agency that “the Ukraine war caused massive damage to the German economy”.

“Roughly speaking, we are talking about four to five percentage points of gross domestic product being lost over a three-year period,” said Fratzscher. “That’s 150 to 200 billion euros less economic output.”

He warned of  “a significant decline in private consumption and thus in the standard of living of an unusually large number of people”. A Forsa survey showed recently that the majority of Germans were no longer willing to accept financial disadvantages because of the federal government’s sanctions against Russia.

Hungary ‘bored’ by EU resolutions

Orbán also commented on the EU Parliament’s latest resolution in Belgrade, saying: “The only reason we are not laughing at this report is that we are already bored […] It is the third or fourth time that this is happening, that a resolution is being passed in the European Parliament condemning Hungary.”

The European Christian Democrats were also moving further and further to the left. “The voting shares show exactly that: the right-wing parties voted for Hungary and the left-wing parties against,” Orbán pointed out.

Meanwhile, a Hungarian delegation led by the Mayor of Budapest Istvan Tarlos visited the city of Samarkand.

A Samarkand official welcomed the Hungarian delegation, and told them about the economic potential, tourism opportunities of the region. Prospects of expanding trade, economic, tourism and other cooperation between Samarkandand Budapest were discussed.

Guests from Hungary got acquainted with historical and cultural monuments, as well as the sights of Samarkand.

Macron pushes to send migrants to French countryside, labels plan an ‘opportunity’ during ‘demographic transition’

French President Emmanuel Macron has promised that a new asylum and immigration bill will be tabled from the beginning of 2023, with the French leader highlighting the need to send more migrants into the French countryside during France’s “demographic transition.”

At a meeting with prefects on Sept. 15, Macron said the bill will be tabled “from the beginning of 2023,” with the aim of putting an end to an “absurd policy” that he considered to be “inefficient and inhumane.”

Macron is pushing for “better distribution” of foreign nationals across France, particularly in “rural areas, which are themselves losing population,” and where “we will have to close classes, probably schools and colleges.” The French leader then claims that these migrants will be better received in these more rural areas.

“The conditions for their reception will be much better (in rural regions) than if we put them in areas that are already densely populated, with a concentration of massive economic and social problems,” he said. Macron said he wanted to relocate migrants in particular to “rural areas that are losing population” and described it as “a tremendous opportunity” within the framework of a “demographic transition.”

Opposition to migrants in rural France is already strong

However, attempts to move migrants to rural regions has already been met with fierce opposition across France. As Remix News reported earlier this year, a plan financed with millions of euros from the wealthy Cohen family is designed to place 70 refugees into the quaint French town of Callac. The family has described their desire to create what they describe as a multicultural “Noah’s Ark of modern times.” However, the decision has been met with fierce opposition from the town’s locals with protests and calls to hold a referendum on migrant relocation plans. The Cohen family, undeterred by such opposition, has since expanded their project to a wide variety of French countryside towns, with the French government’s financial support.

A citizen’s initiative looking to block the proposal wrote a letter to the town’s mayor describing why they stood in opposition:

“The objective would be to repopulate a small ‘aging’ town with migrants, to revitalize the town center and to develop economic activities. Migrants would therefore be supervised, housed, and trained, and 70 jobs would be found for them.

The arrival of 70 non-European families would totally upset the life of the municipality and the canton. Thirty-eight non-French-speaking children would be educated at the Callac school and divided into classes. This would further complicate the task of teachers.

How can you impose on the people of Callac such a project that calls into question the identity of our population and before the real cost of the project is determined?”

The citizens opposed to the plan also pointed to already high unemployment rates in their own town, and asked why jobs would be found for migrants when there are not enough jobs currently for those already living there.

How Macron could benefit from a migrant relocation scheme

Macron may have a strong political objective for transferring more migrants to rural France. His base of support, along with other left-wing politicians, is substantially higher in urban areas, with the left lacking support in less densely populated regions. Importing a mass amount of non-European peoples into what were traditionally towns and rural areas — many of which have featured homogenous European populations for thousands of years — may also boost Macron and the left’s electoral prospects in the future. In the last election, for instance, a staggering 85 percent of Muslims voted for Macron in his race against National Rally’s Marine Le Pen. If more Muslims can be brought into France and absorbed into rural areas, the calculus is clear: a secure and perhaps permanent majority for the French left.

Data also shows that protests against mass migration from rural areas are not an isolated sentiment relegated to a minority. Instead, rural areas are usually adamantly opposed to mass migration. Overall, a majority of French have stated in a variety of polls they want to reduce migration and that immigration has harmed internal security in France, which aligns with statistics showing murders and terrorist attacks have risen in tandem with increasing migration. Even more alarming for France’s political left and pro-migration interests, 60 percent of the country believes in the Great Replacement theory, and 67 percent are worried that it is already happening in their country. Anti-immigration sentiment remains far higher in rural areas than urban areas, which continues to pose an undeniable electoral challenge for Macron and his party.

Macron’s decision to point out the “demographic transition” may also bolster the arguments of those pointing to the Great Replacement, which describes the displacement of Europeans by non-Europeans throughout the West, with French intellectualspoliticians, and academics increasingly discussing and debating the phenomenon on French political debate shows and in the nation’s top newspapers, including with data and statistics to back their assertions. In other words, the Great Replacement has reached the mainstream of French political thought and may underpin the French public’s increasing rejection of mass migration.

Macron tries to sell his immigration plan to a wary French public

Macron, however, is selling his migration reallocation idea through other means, calling the current policy of migrants living mostly in cities “inefficient and inhumane.”

“We have a policy that is both inefficient and inhumane,” Macron said. “Inefficient because we find ourselves with more foreigners in an irregular situation than many of our neighbors, and inhumane because this pressure means that they are too often badly received.”

Macron pointed to the system of benefits that draw migrants to France, saying, “We have a system of monetary, social, medical aid, much more generous than all our neighbors.” On the reception side, Macron deemed it necessary to “integrate (migrants) much faster,” adding that “our policy today is absurd” because it “consists of putting women and men who arrive, who are in the greatest misery” in the poorest neighborhoods.

The French prime minister has long paid lip service to the topic of illegal immigration, but has shown few results. For example, despite setting the goal of a 100 percent deportation rate for rejected asylum seekers and convicted migrants, the government has only managed to achieve a 15 percent deportation rate — another factor that may be driving more migration to France. However, Macron is again making promises on the subject, saying his government will work to “improve the effectiveness of deportation policies” at the border with regard to foreign nationals in an illegal situation. In particular, he mentioned the need to make the granting of visas more conditional on “the spirit of cooperation [with the origin countries] to take back foreigners in an irregular situation, starting with those who disturb public order.”

During his recent trip to Algeria, Macron, alongside his counterpart Abdelmajid Tebboune, promoted a relaxation of the visa regime granted to the country in exchange for increased cooperation from Algiers in the fight against illegal immigration. However, such agreements have been tenuous in the past, with Algeria threatening Spain with a migration wave over a political dispute just this year. In addition, France may end potentially receiving more legal migrants from Algeria in exchange for Algeria taking action against illegal immigration, but in the end, the integration track record of Algerian migrants in France has also been poor.

STICK A FORK IN IT: Latest Inflation Numbers Show Germany’s Economy Is Cratering

Around 200 masked Islamists circle a Hindu Temple in Birmingham amid chants of ‘Allah-Hu-Akbar’, terrifying visuals emerge

On September 20 (local time), a 200-strong mob of masked Islamists circled Durga Bhawan Hindu Centre located on Spon Lane in Smethwick town in West Midlands, England, after a call for “peaceful protests” was made on social media. The so-called protest, which was more of an intimidating tactic of the Islamists, was organized against the already-postponed event of Sadhvi Ritambhara.

Her team had announced that the UK trip stood postponed owing to her poor health on September 16 itself. However, the Islamists decided to go ahead with the “protest” outside the Hindu temple. Several videos surfaced on social media platforms where the mob was heard chanting Allah-Hu-Akbar.

In a video shared by ISKCON’s Radharamn Das, Islamists were seen hurling abuses toward the Hindus inside the Hindu temple premises. They were chanting Allah-Hu-Akbar, and some of them climbed the fence wall as well. There were Police present at the scene, but in the video, it was evident that the number of Police Personnel was far less and not adequately equipped to handle a 200-strong mob of Islamists. The majority of the Islamists were masked in the video. Towards the end of the video, Police were seen making announcements asking the mob to move back. Some Police officials equipped with batons were seen approaching the temple to control the mob.

In a video shared by author Ratan Sharda, Police were seen forming a chain in front of the temple wall and using batons to push the mob away. A few Hindus were inside the premises recording the whole incident. The mob continued to chant Allah-Hu-Akbar and hurled abuses toward Hindus.

In a video shared by Gayatri from the same angle as Ratan Sharda’s, it was seen how Police approached the mob that was at the wall and pushed them away while they kept raising slogans.

Activist Rashmi Samant also shared a video of the incident and wrote, “Birmingham Durga temple yesterday. I wonder how Islamists get a free pass to bully Hindus, lie blatantly and get away on NDTV.”

Writer and commentator Wasiq of Henry Jackson Society shared a threatening video of one of the Islamists. In the video, the Islamist warned Hindu supporters of BJP and RSS that they were not welcomed in the UK. He said, “This is a message from Birmingham to the BJP and RSS Hindutva supporters. You are not welcome in Birmingham. You are not welcome in Leicester. You are not welcomed anywhere in the UK. None of your speakers, none of your hate speakers, are allowed to organize this b**lsh*t. We are now here outside the Mandir. It is a peaceful protest of more than 200 people. We just want to let you know if you come down, we are all gonna be here for you. Even the speaker cancelled look how many turned up.”

Earlier, OpIndia reported that Islamists had called for a protest outside the Hindu temple in Birmingham against Sadhvi Ritambhara’s event that was already postponed. However, the Islamists went ahead with the so-called peaceful protest. It was in sync with the anti-Hindu attacks that have been happening in Leicester.

Web giants shouldn’t get to decide what we can say -Meloni

Giorgia Meloni · Foto: Breizh-Info

Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday that Web giants should be stripped of their ability of limit what people say on social-media platforms via their terms of service.
“I think, in an age when opinions travel prevalently on these channels, it is absurd that one has to obey the diktats of the owners of the platforms,” Meloni said via Facebook.
“They claim the right to say what is right and what isn’t, what you can say and what you can’t.
“Freedom of speech is a fundamental principle for us, not a concession from the web giants.
“The same rules should apply on social media as on other news media.
“Freedom of speech and transparency in the handling of our data cannot be put into doubt.
“We proposed this in opposition and we will in government too”.
Meloni is tipped to become Italy’s first woman premier after Sunday’s general election.
The centre-right coalition had a big lead in the opinion polls, with FdI the top party, before a pre-vote media blackout of surveys kicked in.

What is Drying up the World’s Rivers?

By David R. Legates

A recent CNN article titled The World’s Rivers are Drying Up from Extreme Weather. See How 6 Look from Space purports to argue that rivers — for example, the Colorado, Yangtze, Rhine, Po, Loire, and Danube — are dwindling due to “a painful lack of rain and relentless heat waves.” The article concludes that “the human-caused climate crisis is fueling extreme weather across the globe,” which is responsible for making these rivers shrink in both length and breadth and, potentially, become virtually impassable.

While it is true that these rivers are indeed in low-flow conditions, it has long been argued that floods, droughts, and streamflow are driven by several factors in addition to precipitation. Yes, a lack of precipitation over an extended period of time will likely cause low flows in the area’s rivers. But it is not necessarily true that the existence of low flows indicates that a lack of precipitation was the culprit. Humans need water not just to survive, but to carry out a variety of water-intensive industries including paint and coating manufacturing, paper mills, wineries, and pesticide and other agricultural chemical manufacturing, for example. Agriculture too has a high demand for water, and the simple increase in population may tax existing water supplies.

So, it is unrealistic to simply assume that low flows in the six rivers upon which the CNN article focuses are caused by a lack of rainfall and the “relentless heat waves” that have supposedly swept the planet. In fact, the usual mantra from the climate alarmists is that rainfall will increase, not decrease. The rationale for this is that warmer conditions will lead to more evaporation (remember that more moisture can be held in saturated air at warmer temperatures than at colder temperatures), which, in turn, lead will to more rainfall, since “what goes up, must come down.” But, contrary to the actual physics, we are told that the climate becomes more “variable” under climate change in what has been referred to as “climate weirding.” This helps climate alarmists to argue that both floods and droughts will increase, as well as that both more snowfall and less snowfall is indicative of climate change.

To determine whether CNN is correct in suggesting that rivers are drying up due to “the human-caused climate crisis,” let’s take a closer look at some of these rivers.

Let’s start close to home. The Colorado River is cited as the first example, and, although CNN attributes its drying to the “historic drought in the US West” (although droughts in the Medieval period were far worse and much longer sustained), they do not suggest that this drought is human induced. They do mention, however, that “around 40 million people in seven states and Mexico rely on the river’s water for drinking, agriculture and electricity.” But an evaluation of the current conditions from the USGS National Water Dashboardindicates, as shown below, that many stream gauge stations in western Colorado and Utah are near normal, and in New Mexico and Arizona, they are above and much above normal.

The black and dark blue dots indicate streamflow that is either at or near a record high, and the current forecast is for more rainfall. In fact, the 20th Century was the ettest century of the past millennium. Lake Mead (highlighted by the CNN article) is drying up, not because the streamflow in the region has gone to near zero, but, as University of Alabama climate scientist Roy Spencer shows, because the population of the “desert” has grown so much that the water resources of the region cannot support the water demand.

Next, the CNN article focuses on the Yangtze River in central China. The controversial Three Gorges Dam lies on the Yangtze River, and operation of the dam greatly affects the water levels of both the upstream and downstream portions of the river. Three Gorges Dam is the world’s largest hydroelectric dam, but it also serves to enhance the shipping ability of the Yangtze River by controlling streamflow and reducing flood potential for downstream communities. But it has adversely affected the landscape and ecology of the region, which is why it has become highly controversial, both domestically and internationally.

Earlier this year, an article in Science Alert (from a published study in Geophysical Research Letters) suggests that the biggest climate change threat to East Asia arises not from drought but from “atmospheric rivers” that will increase rainfall from more frequent and more severe events. So, which is it — lower flows or more flooding?

The remaining four rivers on which the CNN article focused lie in Europe – the Rhine in Germany, the Po in Italy, the Loire in France, and the Danube in Romania. For the Rhine, wetland restoration in the German mountains has had an impact on summer flow, particularly because “the recession flow following the peaks is higher” (i.e., the decrease in flow following the flood peak is increased), which would, according to Wetlands International, cause the water to drain faster, thereby creating a low flow sooner. The Po, too, is low due to a drought, but its flow was lower seventy years ago — well before purportedly manmade global warming took hold. The effect of draining wetlands and extensive industrialization also has had an effect on the river. Euronews reported an expert’s view that while the Loire is “drier than usual this year,” some of the photos of the Loire “are at least a dramatisation of the situation.” And the Danube in Romania is affected by extensive urban land development, the loss of flood plains, and deforestation. All three will exacerbate floods but decrease the flow during low-flow conditions as little water exists in transit to the river to sustain the flow when rainfall is low.

However, the single most important factor that debunks the CNN argument that “the human-caused climate crisis is fueling extreme weather across the globe” that is causing the world’s rivers to dry up is in the pictures they choose to demonstrate their point. For five of the six rivers on which they focus (all but the Colorado River), their before-and-after aerial photography compares August 2022 to… August 2021 — just one year before. The dramatic change in just one year leads to the inescapable conclusion that this is not a climate issue; rather, it is a normal change in yearly weather conditions and local effects in dam operations. Climate change is measured over periods of at least 30 years, not a single year. On the Colorado River, diminishing streamflow is not the culprit for the low flow conditions; the highly increasing demand for water by a rapidly growing population in the desert Southwest of the United States is a far better explanation.

As is often the case, the facts usually disprove the alarmist position associated with climate change. This is no different with respect to the CNN article.

Bundeswehr officers in Azerbaijan

A few days ago, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh became “hot” again. A ceasefire agreed on Thursday could prove fragile. The flare-up of the military conflict is particularly explosive in view of the most recent developments in the Ukraine war.

What the German left-wing politician and member of parliament Sevim Dağdelen has now announced to the public is even more explosive: Just a few days before the start of hostilities, a group of Bundeswehr officers were guests of the Azerbaijani defense ministry.

According to information on the website of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, the Bundeswehr visit served to implement the “program of bilateral military cooperation” between the two countries. It goes on to say: “The parties held a detailed exchange of views on the current status and prospects for the development of military cooperation between the countries, as well as on regional and international security issues.”

It is not known whether the members of the Bundeswehr involved received information about the upcoming military events – or perhaps even transmitted signals from NATO.

As early as mid-July, it was announced from Brussels that the EU intends to double its gas imports from Azerbaijan. During a visit to the Caucasus republic on July 18, Commission President von der Leyen personally announced: “The EU is turning to trustworthy energy suppliers. Azerbaijan is one of them. With today’s agreement, we commit to expanding the Southern Gas Corridor to double gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the EU.”

The Federal Foreign Ministry’s conspicuous silence on the most recent conflict between the two Caucasus countries is notable.

Paris: Teacher threatened for asking a pupil to take off her Islamic headscarf

Police arrested a 22-year-old man accused of insulting a teacher and threatening to assault her. This happened because she had asked his sister to take off her headscarf during a school trip. The young man was arrested on Friday September 16 near the Lycée Simone-Weil – where the girl attends school – on Rue de Poitou in the third arrondissement of Paris, Actu17 reported on Monday September 19. The suspect was transferred to the prosecutor’s office after being held in police custody, before finally being released under judicial supervision to await sentencing.

In detail: On Friday September 16, students of the Simone Weil High School spent the afternoon inside the historic library of the city of Paris, located in the Rue Pavée near the school. Suddenly, one of the two teachers present spotted that a female high school student had put on her headscarf as she was leaving the school building. “She asked her to take off her headscarf and explained to her that wearing it was not allowed in the school rules of the high school and especially during school trips,” a person close to the investigating authority told the newspaper.

She refused to remove her headscarf and called her parents. On the phone, her brother demanded to speak to the teacher. According to information available to Actu17, he promptly threatened her, saying among other things: “I will come and finish you off, you will see what happens to you, I am coming.”

The police were alerted and a police patrol went to the scene. At around 3.40 p.m., the suspect was identified in front of the high school as he was “on his way to the library”, as the same source reported to the media. The 22-year-old, who resides in the north of Paris, was taken into police custody. He reportedly responded to officers as follows: “If anyone touches my sister in the street or asks her to take off her veil, I will kill that person”.

According to Actu17, the threatened teacher reportedly filed a complaint. The suspect was released from custody on Sunday September 18 and will later stand trial for “insulting a person entrusted with a public duty” and “threatening such a person”, according to information from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Lebanese taxi driver tries to rape female passenger – German prosecutor’s office drops case because he failed to rape her

She should get home safely. Her boyfriend therefore ordered her an Uber. But the danger was driving: An Uber driver sexually harassed Lona H. (30). But for the public prosecutor’s office there is no sufficient suspicion of a crime.

Retrospect: On a Saturday evening in June, Lona, a Berlin woman, is at a company party on Warschauer Street with her boyfriend. Around midnight she wants to go home, her boyfriend calls her an Uber – because her mobile phone has just been stolen. When she gets into the passenger seat, she cries about it.

“At that moment he probably thought: just the perfect victim,” she tells the newspaper BILD. The Uber taxi is supposed to take the 30-year-old to her flat in Wilmersdorf.

At the beginning, the driver chats with her and tells her that he is originally from Lebanon and doesn’t like Berlin. He has been driving Uber for about two years now. Suddenly, the 55-year-old becomes silent and serious. At a red light he says, “I’m going to turn off the Uber app now. I need to get gas, we’re not allowed to do that.”

The Uber app also tracks the GPS signal. Lona waits, checks that the doors are locked. The car stops in a dark corner behind a Total petrol station on the Tempelhofer bank.

“Then he put his hands on mine and stroked my neck and tried to pull my head towards him,” says Lona. She keeps calm, says she just wants to go to the toilet for a moment and comes back.

Instead, the escape: Lona runs to the night counter and asks the petrol station employee to call the police. The officers catch the driver and question him. The statements coincide, he confirms the touching, but then claims “that he just wanted to comfort her” because she had lost her mobile phone.

Then, in September, the scandalous statement: The public prosecutor’s office discontinued the investigation according to § 170 paragraph 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure – no sufficient suspicion.

The reason: “The stroking of your hand and the touching of your neck are initially not clearly sex-related.” And further: “Even if he wanted to pull you towards his head, it is not sufficiently certain that this was intended to result in sexual intrusiveness.”

BILD asks what this contact was supposed to result in instead. According to the prosecution, this was only a “preparatory act”. “Such an attempt at sexual harassment has not been criminalised by the legislator,” the public prosecutor’s office states.

Unbelievable: In order for the perpetrator to get a punishment, Lona would have had to take the chance!

She says: “That was the first time I went to the police, and actually I had confidence. I still felt I had to be raped first to report it.”

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the young woman could appeal against the dismissal of the case – but given the legal situation cited, this would not be very successful.

At least there is a small consolation for Lona: she will never encounter this man in an Uber taxi again. And he won’t be able to harass other women there either.

A spokesperson for the Uber company told BILD: “In consultation with the driver’s employer, we deactivated the driver on our platform immediately after the incident was reported.
