Retired Turkish admiral questions wisdom of Sweden and Finland joining NATO
Retired Turkish Rear Admiral Ali Deniz Kutluk said the constant expansion has turned NATO into a cumbersome and unmanageable organisation. The discussed inclusion in the North Atlantic Alliance of two more countries – Finland and Sweden – will make the structure even weaker, and ultimately more dangerous for current members.
“Is NATO expansion right? Already the alliance is unmanageable. It has 30 member states. In addition, it has 39 countries that are called partners. Will the inclusion of these countries [Sweden and Finland] in NATO provide greater security or reduce it even more?” The Aydinlik newspaper quoted Kutluk as saying.
The accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO is not beneficial for Ankara. “Why would Turkey agree to a situation that would reduce its own security?” the retired military man added.
According to the Turkish expert, NATO is taking a step towards creating a less secure environment, as its expansion in Scandinavia may provoke Russia to retaliate. The rear admiral is afraid of a nuclear confrontation, where Turkey, as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, can also be drawn into.
In addition, he noted that the prospect of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election in 2024 may lead to the refusal of protection of the members of the Alliance by the United States.
“If Trump is re-elected, the US will cool relations with NATO as in the past. If he takes steps to reduce or sever transatlantic ties and abandon Europe to see to its own security, then will we not find ourselves in an even more desperate situation?” he asked rhetorically.
Earlier, Finland and Sweden announced that they would seek to join NATO as soon as possible. In turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not support this decision as long as both countries assist Kurdish militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which the Turkish authorities consider to be terrorists.
Ankara, like other members of the North Atlantic Alliance, can block the admission of new members by imposing a veto. Despite upcoming meetings with officials from both countries, he said Ankara would not be swayed on its decision.
If Turkey, which has NATO’s second largest army, has no veto right in the decision-making mechanisms of the alliance and remains ineffective on this issue, NATO would be underscoring the futility of its own structure, said Professor of Political Science and International Relations of Maltepe University, Hasan Unal.native advertising
As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted on May 16, speaking at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the inclusion of Finland and Sweden in NATO does not pose an immediate threat to Russia. However, “the expansion of military infrastructure into this territory” would result in a “reaction” from Moscow.
The Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto was nevertheless optimistic about his country’s prospects: “I’m sure that we will find a solution to this matter,” said the 64-year-old, but according to the NATO statutes, the admission of new member states requires the unanimous consent of all thirty member states.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was less welcoming. “We wouldn’t say ‘yes’ to them joining NATO, a security organisation. They were going to come on Monday to convince us. Sorry, they don’t have to bother.”
The ratification process for NATO membership normally takes about a year, but the military alliance was confident that it would be able to speed up this process.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reminded the press on Monday that Russia had “no territorial disputes with either Finland or Sweden”.
Essentially Sweden and Finland have joined a British military-political initiative
Sweden and Finland have been involved in NATO affairs for a while already through the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), a UK-led force, comprising 10 nations working together to “complement” NATO. The coalition focuses on security in the Baltic Sea region and the North Atlantic, where its members are located.
The JEF is a British-led expeditionary force which consists of, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. Eight of the countries are also members of NATO, with Finland and Sweden currently outside that alliance.
It was first conceived in 2012 and announced by the then UK Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir David Richards. The JEF arose from the Joint Rapid Reaction Force (JRRF) which became redundant as a result of the UK’s focus on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The multinational JEF was publicly launched as a NATO initiative at the September 2014 Wales Summit, subsumed under the new “Framework Nations Concept” with Germany, the UK and Italy acting as support nations.
In September 2014 the British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon also announced the signature of a Letter of Intent between Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom, to establish the JEF so that it is fully operational before 2018.
In early October 2015, Swedish Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist said that he did not rule out Sweden joining the Joint Expeditionary Force, even though no formal process exists to do so at the moment, when he was summoned by the Riksdag to confirm if the government was engaged in formal talks to join the JEF without the knowledge of parliament.
On 22 June 2017, the Swedish government confirmed that Sweden would be joining the Joint Expeditionary Force.
Recently, several European leaders met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Vladimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, in London as part of Johnson’s flagship Global Britain plan.
While there are no JEF-dedicated standing forces, the United Kingdom provides command and control. In 2021, the JEF conducted its first maritime task group deployment in the Baltic Sea, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Britain however is not able to defend itself without the United States. It relies on the Pentagon for its nuclear deterrence through the US–UK Mutual Defense Agreement, a treaty which was again extended to 31 December 2024.
Germany: Berlin police may no longer report attacks on Jews and gays
The Berlin government likes to pretend that it is particularly friendly to minorities. But in future, when attacks against Jews and homosexuals take place, the police will no longer be allowed to report them to associations that help the victims. The data protection commissioner ensures this.
In future, the Berlin police may not transmit data on assaults to victim support institutions and counselling centres – because of data protection. This is what the data protection commissioner of the Berlin law enforcement agencies has decreed, as reported by the newspaper Berliner Zeitung. His reasoning in a memo seems absurd: “In order to prevent re-identification”, the information transmitted must not describe the crime, nor the place, for example the street, the time of the crime or the age of those involved. A note obtained by the Berliner Zeitung states that any reference to a person must be prevented: “The reference to a person includes all information that refers to a person. Every description of human behaviour or human characteristics has a reference to a person. The description of a crime therefore relates to a person.
Every year in Berlin alone, thousands of people become victims of insults and attacks that are homophobic, racist or anti-Semitic. If these offences exceed the threshold of criminal liability, the police initiate proceedings. For this purpose, they have so far regularly sent anonymised information to associations such as the gay anti-violence project Maneo, the Research and Information Centre on Anti-Semitism (Rias), which registered more than 1,000 anti-Semitic incidents in 2020, or Reachout, the counselling centre for victims of racist and anti-Semitic violence.
From this, they develop proposals for the prevention of violence, prepare reports for the public, derive political demands. This is now made more difficult by the data protection officer of the law enforcement agencies.

Editor’s note: 99.9% of all attacks on Jews and gays in Germany are committed by Muslims, could that be the reason for this censorship measure?
Germany: Text by an Islamist instead of classical works in the A-levels in North Rhine-Westphalia
By MICHAEL STÜRZENBERGER
In his 25th Islam Week Review, “Islamist hunter” Irfan Peci has once again selected four events that particularly illustrate Islamisation in Germany and the world.
Gümüsay instead of Kleist” comes in fourth place. In a German exam for the 2022 Central Baccalaureate of North Rhine-Westphalia, the work “Language and Being” by Kübra Gümüsay, published in 2010, was dealt with instead of classical works by Kafka, Kleist or Brecht. A scandal, because the headscarf-wearing journalist of Turkish origin has shown more than once in her past that she has a radical Islamic attitude. She obviously imbibed this with her mother’s milk: her parents left Turkey because her mother, due to her headscarf, was no longer allowed to work as a lecturer in Turkey in the mid-1980s, which was then still marked by Atatürk’s modernisation.
Kübra Gümüsay has internalised the fundamental Islamic attitude of her parents: for example, in her work ” Language and Being” she praises Muslim authors such as Necip Fazil Kisakürek. The Turkish-born poet is classified as radical Islamic and once declared that minorities such as Alevis, Druze and Yazidis, should be weeded out and thrown away like nettles from “our religious and national garden”. Kisakürek also translated anti-Semitic works such as the “Protocols of the Wise Men of Zion”.
Kübra Gümüsay’s project ” Cog Network” was also promoted by Islamic Relief, an organisation that the German secret service considers to be part of the Muslim Brotherhood and whose leaders recently had to resign because of anti-Semitic statements.
Kübra Gümüsay has also been to “Islamophobia” conferences attended by controversial Muslim officials such as Farid Hafez, according to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Hafez is alimented by a foundation close to the AKP and conceals in his writings the Jew-hatred of thinkers like Said Qutb. Austrian police searched his flat as part of a raid against suspected Muslim Brotherhood supporters in November 2020.
Gümüsay also has sympathies with extremist organisations: for example, she complained that the Turkish nationalist organisation “Milli Görus” was being monitored by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Gümüsay also repeatedly expressed support and solidarity for Erdogan.
Joachim Paul, member of the AfD federal executive committee, comments:
“Gümüsay’s texts are neither literary nor socio-political of outstanding rank, they rather reflect the narrowed and exclusive view of a fundamentalist parallel society that has never arrived in Germany and is strongly influenced by opinion makers from the Erdogan milieu. There, extremist tendencies as well as aversion towards Germany are also literally palpable.”
It is a clear sign of how far Islamisation has progressed in Germany when such an author’s writings are part of an A-Level examination in Germany.
In third place, Irfan Peci puts the Muslim bus driver in Frankfurt who chanted the muezzin call of “Allahu Akbar” over the loudspeaker system of his bus. In his video (above) Irfan shows this scandalous incident. After all, the local public transport company in Frankfurt dismissed this driver from his job due to a multitude of massive complaints. His behaviour was “absolutely unacceptable”. It remains to be seen how long such an assessment will last.
The headscarf dispute in the hospitals of the Catholic St. Elisabeth Group in Herne ranks second. A Muslim trainee wearing a headscarf was dismissed in January because a neutral appearance is expected of staff there. After there were protests, mainly from students, about alleged “discrimination” and the Muslim woman concerned also complained publicly, there was a heated debate. The “student parliament” of the Ruhr University in Bochum demanded an end to the headscarf ban in a letter that was also sent to all head doctors. Coupled with a clear threat: if this was not implemented, they could no longer support cooperation with the group as the sponsor of a university hospital or academic teaching hospital.
As a result, a compromise proposal was worked out: a white bonnet that looks like a medical head covering, but could also be considered a headscarf from an Islamic perspective. This is now seen by the Muslim woman concerned as a success and publicly as the “end of the headscarf ban”. For Irfan Peci it is clear: once again, political Islam has prevailed, the “infidel” society buckles and complies with demands, which is massively supported from left-wing circles in the university sector, but also in the media and politics.

635 migrants arrive in UK over weekend as government vows to ramp up Rwanda resettlement scheme
British beach-goers weren’t the only ones to take advantage of the warmer weather across the country at the weekend as more than 600 asylum seekers crossed the English Channel to land on England’s southern shoreline on Saturday and Sunday, according to official data provided by the U.K. Home Office.
A total of 199 individuals in five boats were brought to Dover marina on Saturday, and 436 new arrivals from nine vessels were processed on Sunday, with French authorities confirming they returned 113 more people to Calais after three boats encountered difficulties on the waterway.
The warmer weather brought fairer sailing conditions, which often entices people traffickers operating in northern France to encourage an influx of individuals seeking to reach Britain to embark on the perilous journey.
The BBC’s southeast England reporter, Simon Jones, confirmed that more arrivals had been processed on Monday morning, despite less favorable conditions in the Channel.
Despite an announcement last month from the Home Office that those who reach the U.K. illegally will be deported to asylum processing centers in the central African nation of Rwanda, small boat crossings from mainland Europe have continued. Government figures available for the beginning of May show 792 individuals made the journey across the Channel in small boats in the week from May 2-8.
U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed on Saturday that the first group of illegal migrants will be sent to Rwanda within the fortnight, despite considerable legal opposition to the government’s resettlement policy expected.
Despite often bold statements about deportations and resettlement from both Downing Street and the Home Office under the command of Priti Patel, the British government has regularly found it difficult to follow through on its plans. In November last year, a scheduled deportation flight to Jamaica by an Airbus A350-900, which can cater for up to 350 passengers, departed Birmingham airport with just four people on board after a flurry of last-minute legal challenges gave many a reprieve.
Johnson, in an interview with U.K. tabloid the Daily Mail acknowledged the frustration the government had experienced with legal opposition from human rights lawyers and campaigners, but insisted the government would “dig in for the fight” as he announced 50 individuals would be transported to Rwanda in the coming days.
“There’s going to be a lot of legal opposition from the types of firms that for a long time have been taking taxpayers’ money to mount these sort of cases, and to thwart the will of the people, the will of Parliament. We’re ready for that,” Johnson told the newspaper.
“We will dig in for the fight and we will make it work. We’ve got a huge flowchart of things we have to do to deal with it, with the leftie lawyers,” he added.
More than 6,000 people have made the trip across the Channel to Britain so far this year after 28,526 arrived in 2021, calling into question by some the competency of the current Conservative government to effectively handle the border crisis, and to implement the desire of the British people to “take back control” of the country’s borders following the historic vote to leave the European Union in 2016.
US four-Star general tweets video game as real Ukraine war battle
An American mainstream “military analyst”, the four-star General Barry McCaffrey on Monday tweeted a sequence from a 2015 video game Arma 3 as the actual footage of Ukrainian forces downing a Russian aircraft.
It is quite surprising that the high-level military official did not verify the content he chose to spread his social media account since it is not the first time the pro-Ukraine faction has published video game footage as genuine Ukraine victories.
In fact, the Ukrainian government had previously released at least two video game clips for propaganda in recent months. In a short clip of the Arma 3 video game play, an imaginary Russian MiG-29 gets shot down by an air defense system.
“Russian aircraft getting nailed by UKR missile defense. Russians are losing large numbers of attack aircraft. UKR air defense becoming formidable,” McCaffrey announced on Twitter.
Faced with a deluge of mocking and incredulous comments, McCaffrey quickly deleted the embarrassing post. The fake footage did not stop CNN pro-Ukraine pundit Max Boot from retweeting it.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense had used Arma 3 video game footage before to claim non-existent victories.
On Monday meanwhile, the surrender of hundreds of Azov Battalion fighters that had been holed up in Mariupol’s Azovstal steel factory were described by the mainstream media as an “evacuation” and an “end” to their “combat mission”.
The New York Times, CNN, AP and other outlets tried to downplay what could be a devastating turn of events for the Ukrainian General Staff. Ukrainian soldiers will no doubt be dismayed by the lack of support they have now witnessed, not only from their superiors but also from their Western sponsors, after they were abandoned by them.
The headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR said that so far 256 people have surrendered at Azovstal, of which 51 were wounded.
Woman threatened with weapon: Syrian arrested by Vienna police
A Syrian citizen (20) allegedly stole a weapon from a woman’s handbag on Tuesday night and threatened her. The attacker fled shortly afterwards – a little later he was arrested by the police.
An attempted robbery took place in the fifth district of Vienna on Tuesday night. A 20-year-old Syrian national allegedly snatched a soft gun from the handbag of a 27-year-old woman and threatened her with it.
The Syrian, however, fled shortly afterwards. Two witnesses allegedly chased the man and overpowered him. The Vienna police were able to arrest the fleeing suspect shortly afterwards in Josef-Schwarz-Gasse.
However, there is no sign of the weapon. The police were unable to find it either during the search of the alleged perpetrator or on his escape route. The alleged victim was also no longer at the scene.
A WEGA police patrol finally found the alleged victim in the area of the underground station Margaretengürtel. In a first interrogation she confirmed the incidents – however, the intoxicated woman could not give any information about the whereabouts of the softgun.

France: High school students walked out of music class because their teacher played them a Beatles song during Ramadan
A group of students at a collège in the centre of the rose city of Toulouse walked out of music class because their teacher played them a Beatles song during Ramadan. They were reprimanded by the headmistress, who made a report to the headmaster’s office.
[…]
The music education teacher plays a Beatles song to investigate the structure of the piece. A pupil stands up and refuses to continue following the lesson on the grounds that he is not allowed to listen to music during Ramadan. He leaves the room, followed by seven other students, “not all of whom are of the Muslim faith and who followed their classmate out of peer pressure rather than religious conviction,” explains Mostafa Fourar, the headmaster of the Toulouse academy.
[…]
According to our information, another incident of this kind occurred at Collège Les Chalets, almost at the same time. A teacher reported: “I think it happened in the third class a few weeks ago. A group of girls asked their teacher not to sit next to the boys because they were menstruating and it was the time of Ramadan. The young teacher, a little put off by their request, complied. After that, everything was fine again. However, the teaching team intervened so that something like this would not happen again.”La Dépêche
Germany: Syrian stabbed his wife 24 times because she wanted to break up with him
She wanted to break up with him. He felt his honour had been violated, wanted revenge – so she had to die.
Horrific bloody deed on the motorway A7!
Since Monday, Samer M. (34) has had to answer for the murder of his wife Hind M. (32) before the Flensburg Regional Court.
What happened? On November 20, 2021, the Syrian couple was driving from Denmark along the motorway A7 in the direction of Hamburg. Apparently there was an argument, Samer M. stopped on the hard shoulder near Schuby (Schleswig-Holstein), pulled out a kitchen knife. According to the indictment, he stabbed the mother of two at least 24 times!
In fear of her life, the 32-year-old fled from the passenger seat to the back seat and even made it out of the car. But her tormentor ran after her, allegedly pushing her onto the roadway, according to the prosecutor. A lorry driver was unable to avoid her and hit the young woman, injuring her fatally.
The prosecution is sure: Samer M. deliberately caused the death of his wife.
While the accused did not comment on the accusations yesterday, his defence lawyer Sebastian Bauer insisted on his innocence, claiming that the 24 stabs, which according to the autopsy also injured Hind M.’s lungs, were “only superficial”. Moreover, no fingerprints of his client had been found on the knife. Samer M.’s hands were covered in blood when he was arrested by the police without resistance.
Lawyer Bauer said: “Was the crash only a tragic accident?
For the family of the deceased a slap in the face: “I think I’m going crazy. Is the deed supposed to have been carried out by an alien?” said joint plaintiff Christian Hacken (39), who acts on behalf of the brothers of the deceased.
A total of 22 trial days are initially scheduled until the beginning of October.
France: 16-year-old “refugee” tries to rape mother in presence of her two small children
The incident is shocking, especially as it happened on Sunday afternoon at around 1.30 pm in Parc Tassart, near the Henri Martin Museum in Cahors. According to our information, a mother was walking with her two young children when she came across a minor who was undressing. The 16-year-old was not content with this and took it to the extreme by pushing the mother against a wall in order to sexually harass her.
“The young man had grabbed her by the arm, pushed her against a wall and rubbed his private parts against her. Thanks to his reaction, she managed to escape.”
Another person involved, the victim’s stepson, was also hit in the face with his fist, according to the prosecution. Police officers from the Cahors police station quickly identified and arrested a suspect near the Cahors railway station. “It is a 16-year-old minor known to the judicial authorities and benefiting from the supervision scheme applicable to unaccompanied minors,” said Alexandre Rossi.La Dépêche
