The right to own firearms and use them to defend oneself in an emergency is deeply ingrained in the American consciousness. When protests by the Black Lives Matter movement degenerated into civil war-like riots and looting across the United States over the past year, civil militias and private individuals took up arms to protect their property.
This situation escalated in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Kyle Rittenhouse, then 17, had traveled to town after three days of rioting to stand guard. Rioters had caused property damage of around 50 million US dollars there. During the riot, Rittenhouse shot two men and wounded another with his assault rifle after they had threatened him.
The trial was marked by repeated attempts by BLM, Antifa and the media to intimidate the jurors. At least 500 national guards are being sent into the city to support the local security forces as the authorities fear further unrest.
John Pierce, the former lawyer for Kyle Rittenhouse, said he nevertheless expected a full acquittal in the Kenosha, Wisconsin case after the defense requested a mistrial. Pierce told Fox news that the judge was “terrific”.
“Judge Schroeder: He might be the best judge I’ve ever seen. He is no-nonsense. He sticks to the facts of the law. He was obviously outraged at some of the instances of prosecutorial misconduct.”
NBC producer caught instructing journalist to doxx jurors
On Thursday Irene Min Joo Byon, a producer at NBC, was outed as the individual who had instructed a journalist affiliated with MSNBC to follow the jury bus in the Rittenhouse case.
Judge Schroeder told the court that the journalist James J. Morrison, was pulled over by law enforcement for going through a red light. Morrison was chasing after the the jury bus in an effort to take photographs of the jurors inside.
When questioned by police for a traffic violation, he told the officers that Byon had instructed him to chase after the jury bus. Judge Schroeder has banned Morrison MSNBC from the courtroom in response to this serious admission. The outed Byon quickly deleted both her Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, but not soon enough to hide her affiliation with NBC.
Videos show the fatal shots
Leftists, anti-racism officials and mainstream journalists complained that the jury that is supposed to judge the white Rittenhouse was mostly white. Among other things, the law professor at Georgetown University, Paul Butler, described the process to the broadcaster MSNBC as a “white privilege” on steroids. Last week, the traumatised teenager described the tragic day.
First, Rittenhouse helped remove graffiti from a school on August 25, 2020. He later joined a group that wanted to protect a used car dealership. This had already become the target of rioters. The owner posed with Rittenhouse and the other men for a photo that circulated on social media, but denied in court that they asked the group to protect their business. Then there were the fatal shots.
Since witnesses recorded the shots with their cell phones, there are several videos of the crime. They show how Rittenhouse ran away from an angry crowd. First of all, Joseph Rosenbaum attacked him and tried to snatch the rifle from him. Rittenhouse killed him in a scuffle with several shots.
As he continued to flee from the aggressive group of rioters, he fell to the ground. After an unknown man attacked him and shots were fired into the air, Anthony Huber hit the teenager with his skateboard. When Huber also tried to take the gun from him, a bullet hit him fatally in the chest.
All three of Rittenhouse’s attackers were career criminals, but Wisconsin’s largest newspaper, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, argued that readers should not be informed about their criminal records.
Newly released documents obtained by Wisconsin Right Now from the Pima County (Arizona) Clerk of Courts confirmed that Rosenbaum was charged by a grand jury with 11 counts of child molestation and inappropriate sexual activity with children, including anal rape.
Anthony Huber had a disorderly conduct conviction from 2018 as a domestic abuse repeater.
Judge reads the riot act to prosecutor
Shortly afterwards, Gaige Grosskreutz, another attacker, pounced on Rittenhouse. The youth stopped him with a shot in the arm. The testimony of Grosskreutz caused a stir. When asked, he admitted that he had drawn a pistol and aimed at Rittenhouse. Only then did Rittenhouse pull the trigger himself.
The surprised reactions to this in the courtroom spoke volumes. Rittenhouse himself seemed to be listening to the statement in disbelief. This evidently confirmed that the now 18-year-old had acted in self-defense.
All three people who attacked Rittenhouse before the shooting are also white and all of them had criminal records. While Huber and Rosenbaum had attracted attention through crimes such as assault and sexual offenses, Grosskreutz had been convicted of burglary and illicit gun possession.
For their part, the prosecution tried unfairly to cast Rittenhouse in a bad light before the jury. Judge Bruce Schroeder had repeatedly reprimanded prosecutor Thomas Binger because during the cross-examination of Kyle Rittenhouse, Binger asked him why he had initially decided to remain silent. The prosecutor attempted to use the fact that Kyle had exercised his constitutional right to remain silent before the trial, but according to US law, this cannot be used against a defendant.
Schroeder reprimanded the public prosecutor. “That is basic law. It has been basic law in this country for 50 years. I have no idea why you are doing this,” remarked the judge. The prosecutor also withheld exculpatory information from the defense, which is a crime.
And according to James Kraus, one of the prosecutors, the jury had to be convinced that Rittenhouse should have let himself be beaten because “everybody takes a beating sometimes”. Kraus was essentially arguing against the basic right to self-defence.
After the final speeches, the jury withdrew to discuss the fate of Rittenhouse. He is accused of, among other things, willful first-degree homicide and use of a dangerous weapon. In the worst case, he could face life imprisonment. Whatever the outcome, Kenosha could once again face unrest.
Covington kid speaks out against trial by media
Former Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandman – who famously settled a defamation suit against CNN – urged Rittenhouse to sue news outlets to “hold the media accountable” after leftist media outlets rushed to his judgement.
Sandman was part of a group of American high school boys from Covington Catholic attending a pro-life march in Washington and they also visited the Lincoln Memorial. During their visit, they were verbally attacked by a group of black, anti-white activists.
The black adults were screaming at teenagers, “you little dirty ass crackers, your day coming” and “I will stick my foot in your ass!” The aggressive adults shouting racial epithets at children, were made out to be the victims of “racism” by the mainstream media.
