The Islamist assassin of Würzburg mainly attacked women – Police found IS propaganda in his dustbin

After the crime, police searched a homeless shelter where the perpetrator had been living. According to information from the newspaper BILD, the police found ISIS propaganda in a dustbin, which the 24-year-old had apparently disposed of before the murders.

As Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (64) announced on Friday evening, the Somali was also known for violent offences.

It fits in with this: According to a witness, he also shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the knife attack. According to Herrmann, the Somali was not previously known to the authorities as an extremist.

And: Immediately after the crime, the 24-year-old testified, according to BILD information, that he had realised his “jihad” with the attack. This is according to an internal memo from the authorities.

Bavaria’s Interior Minister Herrmann said on Friday that the victims were predominantly women – this is apparently no coincidence. According to BILD information, the man, who was born in Mogadishu in 1997, specifically attacked women. And: He apparently only stabbed in the neck and throat area to cause maximum damage.

In January, the 24-year-old had allegedly threatened someone with a knife. The police were called in – otherwise no previous convictions are known.

The five seriously injured are still being treated in various hospitals – two are still in acute danger of death. Two people with minor injuries have been released from hospital in the meantime.

It is still unclear how the little boy, who is also said to have been injured, is doing.
