Switzerland: Eritrean pushes man onto track

At around 3.10 a.m. on Saturday, a 34-year-old man injured a 19-year-old man at the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) station, the Basel public prosecutor’s office reported on Sunday. Paramedics took the injured man to hospital for medical examination. The SBB transport police succeeded in stopping the suspect, whereupon the cantonal police arrested him on behalf of the public prosecutor’s office.

According to the first findings of the criminal investigation department of the public prosecutor’s office, the 34-year-old had pushed the injured party during an initially verbal argument near track 1, so that the 19-year-old fell onto the track bed. The alleged perpetrator is of Eritrean nationality, according to the public prosecutor’s office.
