Sensation in the election for District Administrator in Thuringia: AfD wins over 50% of the vote and appoints the District Administrator in Sonneberg

For the first time in history, the AfD was able to crack the 50 percent threshold in a large area today – Robert Sesselmann in Sonneberg will become the first District Administrator of the Blue Party in Germany. After 54 of 69 voting districts, AfD candidate Robert Sesselmann leads with 55.5 percent ahead of CDU candidate Jürgen Köpper (44.5 percent).
