Also in 2021, there was a sensational trial against Islamic guardians of public morals in Vienna. Several Chechens shared information in secret telegram groups about girls who were (too) Western. They exposed and terrorised them. Young women who did not want to wear headscarves were beaten up. “We Chechens have our own traditions and want to avoid mixed marriages,” one of the accused explained at the time. The partial prison sentence against one of the Chechens apparently did not serve as a deterrent. Now a new case is causing a stir throughout the country
The newspaper “Krone” reports on unbelievable scenes that took place on Monday at Handelskai in the 20th district. Two girls were walking there when a man they only knew from social media encountered the two girls with his friends. The group identified themselves as guardians of public morals and checked the girls’ clothes. Suddenly, the things went out of control. “He called her foul names,” a young woman reported about the attack on her girlfriend. Because she was walking uncovered, she was spat in the face.
The 17-year-old girl defended herself, but was punched in the face. The second young woman was wearing a headscarf and was therefore spared by the attackers.
According to the newspaper, the girl met with one of the perpetrators after the latter had exposed her in social media on the basis of photos she had uploaded. The young man then suddenly appeared with three friends.
