They are handing this petition over to the mayor today. The aim is to ban the muezzin’s call before Friday prayers. The opponents suspect that the call is a call to a caliphate. According to Islam, a caliphate is an empire led by the successor of the Prophet Mohammed. The DitiB community in Herford defends itself against the accusation. The call to prayer is merely an “aesthetically beautiful invitation to believers”.
